Too many yukky things live in the wood pile so I stopped the wood delivery. (Age had nothing to do with the decision).

Anyone have covered gutters? Is it normal to have LOTS of icicles? Have a broom by the door so I don't get stuck!

Hey, Mary...what are you doing up?? I'm just now posting, because Jared blew a circuit breaker and I had to get it taken care of.

If it makes any difference, I have never thought the character breakfast was any big deal. Very disappointing. And I am the biggest kid there is, when it comes to the characters!
We'll miss it on Sunday, too..because we have an early excursion. Too bad they don't make it "open seating"...then people could go as early as they want to. It's never crowded at the later time....I wonder if it is at the early time?

Agree here. We've gone to some, skipped some. If you've ever been to a character meal at WDW, you've already experienced it. Actually, it's my LEAST favorite meal to eat at on the cruise because you order from a very limited menu....it's not buffet. The characters also seem more rushed than they do at WDW. They are being shuttled around by the Shutters guys, getting pictures.

I'm guessing we'll skip it this time.

BBB I'm going to say something but I'm not saying it as a moderator. I'm saying it as a fellow cruiser and someone who has been on these boards for 6 years and has seen it before. You are setting yourself up for a major disappointment on this cruise. Notice I said you are doing it - DCL or anything or anyone else isn't doing it. By trying to micro-manage every aspect of this vacation you are taking all the fun out of it. So every time there is a change it leads to a bigger and bigger disappointment for you.

SOOOOOO totally agree. There is so much to do and NOT to do on a Disney cruise. Go with the flow, no pun intended. :) Some things DO need to be planned, it's true---like excursions and Palo and whatnot. But it is NOT the end of the world if you don't know EXACTLY what time Bingo will be on your cruise. Besides, what's going to happen if your planned Bingo time comes up but you are enjoying walking around deck 4 with the family enjoying the sunshine and sea breeze? It won't matter if Bingo is at 10:30, 10:45 or 11....enjoy the moment.

So many cruises we've been on we've changed plans....even moments before the event. For example, we might look at the navigator in the evening and make comments about what looks interesting or fun. But the next day we'd rather sit by the goofy pool and play cards while the kids swim instead of packing everything up and rushing to the cooking demonstration in Studio Sea. We'll just shrug it off and go on with what we're doing. It's a MUCH more relaxed vacation that way.

Relax, chill, breathe, ENJOY!

Lunch on CC is honestly, just good, not spectacular. Typical cookout food with a few odd extras. You're not missing anything there. And the ship is going there twice, so you will get a shot at it anyhow.

Mark, well said. I love this part especially...

IMHO...the BEST part of CC food is the massive amounts of fresh fruit and the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream (although last time the gal coudn't get the machine to work so after 10 minutes we shrugged our shoulders and accepted it) By CC day (usually the last day) I'm about fooded out, so the idea of a dry salmon burger or a hot dog doesn't excite me. There's banana bread, but it doesn't compare to the stuff in Parrot Cay at dinner. Some chips,...can get those at home. Some cole slaw...don't eat mayo based products that are at picnics although I'm sure DCL takes care with them. I garbage up on the fresh fruit....cuz I know it'll be a long time before anyone cuts and peels fruit for me again, and because, honestly, CC food is less appetizing than food I prepare at home. BBB, you wont' miss a thing if you do'nt save room for CC food. :)

All the talk last night about planning/over-planning/expectations and disappointments has made me VERY glad that we have made a new plan for this vacation... which is PLAN NOTHING!!!!

As a compulsive planner, that's virtually impossible for me, but we are going with the thought in mind to make no definite plans (except for Palo, provided that we can get a time), and be spontaneous for a change. We know that it means no DCL excursions, (personally, I think just about all cruiseline excursions are highway robbery anyway), but we are soooo in need of an 'unplanned' 7 days after the past 6 months of craziness that we have had.

We'll bring the snorkel gear, and if we DO make it to Cozumel, we'll head over to Chakanaab by cab at our leisure and hang out for the day there... if not, we'll find something to do wherever we end up.

That said, I think we all have different ideas of what our vacations should be like... and if they don't meet up to the expectations we set for ourselves before setting sail, there will be disappointment... there's no right or wrong answer here... just different ways of looking at the same 7 days. We ALL want to have a great time and make lots of good memories- we just don't all do it the same way.

and then came home to see Grey's Anatomy. WOW, that was not at all what I expected. I am so wound up now, I don't think I can sleep.

But at least Derek remembered... even though Meredith didn't!!!! There's hope for him yet...

Ooh... an early morning top with Pam & Dr. McDreamy...

Just booked a studio at Ron Jon Resort for $210 the night of May 26. I doubt if I will get up to see Magic come in this time. Hope it will be warm enough to really enjoy the water park.

Good morning all! It's a little chilly this morning here in GA. But we're supposed to warm up by the end of the week.

BBB, if you're really worried about missing the character breakfast, you can always request a different dining rotation that would put your character breakfast on a different day. But if you have linked dining, be sure to handle it through the person that did it for late seating. I know that we won't miss the character dining as I'm sure it will be highlight for our girls. We have early seating though so we'll still get off the ship at a decent time.

As for excursions, we're just going with the flow like Kikipug. The ages of our girls really limit what we can do. Besides, DH would rather relax & chill on his vacation rather than doing anything commando-style. I think the only thing that I will plan is Palo (if I can get it). I do agree with what Kiki said ... each person does their family vacation a different way. I hope you are able to relax some and enjoy your vacation. I have a feeling it will all work itself out in the end.

Any of you 75-day ressie people know what date we can make ressies? I remember someone posted but didn't right down the date. I still haven't gotten my DCL brochure (or whatever you call it).

:grouphug: True enough, Gary.

Reminds me of the saying "a bad day on DCL still beats a good day at home." :)

Oh please don't. I'm looking forward to finding out some family secrets at dinner. We just weren't close enough to hear them on the Member Cruise. :rotfl:
