It is a disapointment and I wish they would at least change the characters every year and do something different.

Perhaps it is a planned concept...So that all of you with kids that have done the breakfast will skip it....then all of us, who have yet to do the breakfast, will wander into an empty room and have them all to ourselves :teeth:

Good Morning All - That is what happened to an early seating a few weeks ago, VERY few families in the dining room.

And I forgot to tell the 10 nighters, remember Maria, the assistant server? She is now a server and loving it. Maria was our server on the 1/28. She was promoted in early '05.

Stacey- he can dive no matter where they end up taking us? So if we go to costa maya a 2nd time there is somewhere to dive at Costa Maya? I haven't been able to find anything about diving on Costa Maya and I've asked before and no one has said anything about diving at CM.
Go to the scuba boards website and see what appears for costa maya...
or google cosa maya diving - I am sure you will find something. "puter is so slow I cannot leave this thread and try it for you.

So the point is... we never get time alone.
A Disney cruise can hel0p there....

This cruise was not about spending lots of time together as a family (although we did intend on doing that for all excursions at the various ports -except his diving ofcourse-- and intended on spending time together on CC instead of the kids using the club there)-- it was about a way for the kids to have a blast while we (DH & I) get to finally have some time alone and Dh dive was what sealed the deal for him (especially spending this much).

Before you pay for the cruise, are you sure you would not be happpier with a land trip, such as one to St, Thomas where DH can dive, dive, dive and you and the kids can go to the national park and hike. They may even have a dolphin excrusion there. Or perhaps the Eastern Cruise would be more to your likeing, with St. Thomas and St. Maarten. These ports are not hurricane damaged. There are 3 sea days, not 2 so you would be able to enjoy the character breakfast without a rush. There would be less chance of a change of plans...Look at the website and think about it. It might suit you better with less chance for disappointment for the amount of money you are paying.

In fact the more I think about the two cruises, you may well enjoy the Eastern much, much better based on all of the above. No tendering probrlems, no notice for Disney to change ports at the last minute, most likely dolphin adventure, possibly twice. Only one time for CC so you don't have to wrry about sand and breakfast.....

Welcome needawdwtrip,
you will have a great cruise, our kids cried when we had to leave the ship after breakfast the last day, we are all addicted and I keep wondering why I waited so long and all the cruises I missed out on.

And needawdwtrip, the kids are not the only ones who cry.....there apparently is lots of dust that gets into the adults eyes as well

I hope that works for you.

When I was in Coz in Nov, Dive with Martin left me.

I was 20 minutes late and they did not hold the boat. That is the only time I have ever by left by a boat that I had already paid for. And no refund.

I've been to Coz 3 times and yet to get a dive there. Bad weather and changing port time got me each time.

Maybe 4th time will be the charm.

Yup 'cause I will be there...and the seas will be choppy, and all of you will dive and I will feed the fishies.......and no refund either.... :rotfl2:

I never knew that and guess I just learned something new. Now the question is will they be in season in May?

Need to find that out before a bunch of DISers go to JB only to get a a bad attitude and new rock shrimp.

Well, I danna know - should I forgive Jim this error?

Let's ask our fellow posters....what say y'all?????????????????????

Good Morning all....Caught up now, I am.

The dryer is broken - so I will be hanging clothes on the line. If we keep on like this, we will not need electricity.....

Oh, get the dryer repaired, well that is a thought.

The pool cleaner stopped working as well....(Not Sam, stop that Kevin).

So, off to hang up the laundry.....My mother would be proud....

Irene - please forgive Jim this one error. However I do think he needs to do the research about May so that it doesn't happen again. Plus I think he needs to plan something special for us all at the Friday night Bon Voyage party. :goodvibes

The Eastern is an excellent idea and what I usually recommend for first time cruisers. There is good diving at both ports. St. Martin has a dolphin experience and St. Thomas has Coral World which is great for famiies and very easy to get to. I think BBB would be much happier going on an Eastern cruise.

You see the utter bravery of that pairs skating team from China? Was very impressed.

Bravery, yes, but a SILVER medal for falling like that??? I don't know about anyone else, but so far I'm not liking the new scoring method. A fall like that should not earn you a medal unless everyone had a fall like to make even playing ground. :(

Well the guys I saw looked nothing like Olympic athletes. More like couch potatoes. I guess if you can't play ANY other sports, you can curl!

Or you can go on Survivor and SOMEHOW mastermind not getting voted off....twice!

I'm sure it's enjoyable and didn't mean to diss the stingrays-I'm sure others love them and enjoy this excursion. It's just not the same at all for us. It's the DOLPHINS they want to see... not just the experience of seeing some sea animal and touch them/etc. My daughter is not nicknamed after stingrays nor obsessed with everything stingray.. she is for dolphins. Also I think I might be able to handle the dolphins simply because they seem to be very intelligent, gentle and well atleast they are portrayed as gentle/etc. Stingrays... um, not so much. I don't even like little fish swimming at me when snorkeling... I would totally freak with stingrays. I almost couldn't touch one on the back while in a TANK while I stood on dry ground outside of the tank- at SeaWorld! LOL

The comparison, to us.. would be like someone who loved horses to want to go see horses and instead someone said oh just go see the chickens instead.. you'll enjoy it. So not the same. :rotfl2:

If she's THAT into dolphins you might want to check out Discovery Cove at Sea World in Orlando (or do they have one at the Texas Sea World)

I have DONE the dolphin thing in Cozumel. I can give you a full account of how many hours I stood around WAITING for the next step to happen (wait here 30 minutes while we get you off the ship) (wait here 20 minutes while we get you a wrist band) (wait here 25 minutes while we get the group cabs--3 people at a time) (wait 30 minutes here while we wait for the last of the group to catch up in their cabs) (wait here 30 minutes while we get your life vests) (wait here) (wait here) (wait here) (wait here).....

It'd be interesting to price out what I paid PER MINUTE to actually be with the dolphins.

NOT saying it wasn't an incredible experience. It was VERY cool. But it was also VERY irritating to wait and wait and wait and force myself not to have a crappy attitude b/c I was there with ds and HE was excited to see the dolphins (dh and dd were doing the ruins, so I was alone with ds)

We haven't checked it out yet, but I've heard Discovery Cove, while expensive, offers you more time with the actual dolphins. So dollar for dollar it's probably cheaper per minute of dolphin time.

IMHO, I think you underestimate your children. There have been things my kids have REALLY wanted to do that we've been unable to do for various reasons. We sit down with them and explain the problem and we problem solve. I can imagine your house one evening when you explain to them that you REALLY want to take them to the dolphins but yada yada here's why you might not be able to.....BUT, you've talked to some people and yada yada yada are fun alternatives.....get the kids pumped up about something else....

YOUR ATTITUDE is infectious....if you're sour about it, so will they be....if you're positive and excited about it, they will follow suit....it's a choice you make for the good memories of your family

AH-HA...surprisingly I found this quote by Haim Ginott that I've been hanging onto for years...and when MY attitude goes South (not on a cruise) I pull it out and read it over and over....maybe this will help you....emphasis added by me for this situation....

"I have come to a very frightening conclusion. I am the decisive element in the home. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. As a parent, I possess tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of insiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. IN all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized."

Hi there!
another question please... let's say you skip the character breakfast (for us it would be late on CC day)-- where else can you eat breakfast? Or do you only have the option of eating room service continental breakfast if you want to eat some other breakfast on character breakfast day? I haven't figured out all the meal options obviously. LOL (and continental breakfast is not our idea of breakfast... atleast not the adults- kids could eat cereal and be okay with that... but not us).

Thanks in advance!

Nope. If you skip the character breakfast you're out of luck until lunch. :lmao:
