Maria - I hope you get what you want, 12" of snow, I hope I get what I want, a dusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a madhouse at the store, lots of people really stocking up. There was even an announce by the store to get extra pizza and donuts to see you thru the 'blizzard'. :confused3

Angie, anything before 1980 is considered vintage clothing. Actually, some people sell the more distinctive 80s stuff too. I have bought a few very 80s prom dresses, sold less because Alicia steals them. But in jewelry, I look for rhinestone etc. pieces from the 50s. That's my favorite era to find vintage clothing in too.

Bet my mom has vintage stuff in her closet!!! She probably even has our old prom dresses, knowing her. Can't believe 80s is vintage ... makes me feel old!

You'd probably love stuff my MIL has - not sure why she's kept it. She did give me a sequin & pearl top once. I need to replace a lot of the sequins & pearls though ... and it's a little big on me but it's very pretty. One Christmas when we were there she had me try on this jumpsuit that she had. It was a green shimmery stretch jumpsuit ... stretch knit ... bell bottoms ... halter top. It fit but I wouldn't be caught dead in public in that thing!!! I guess it must have been from the 60s or 70s. If I remember correctly, there was even this feather stuff around the bell bottoms. We all had a good laugh!

You did stock up on those donuts & pizza didn't you??? I can only imagine that shopping for a snow storm is like shopping when there is a hurricane coming ... no fun!

By the way, I don't think I thanked you for taking care of dining.

Aw, c'mon Sue...don't you just love the "hush" outside when it snows? Everything is muffled and it's all sooo still. I LOVE IT!! But, I must admit that as I am getting older I don't like to drive in it.

I know, everybody starts getting a little crazy when "they" call for snow. No bread, milk or PIZZAS in the supermarkets :rotfl2: . I think I have more than enough food in my house to survive for at least a week.

Anyway..I hope both of our wishes come true, if that's what you really want. Only time will tell.....

Scoopie was supposed to go to New Orleans with us for our annual convention. It has been moved to Dallas.... if he'd like to go there, someone can send him to me... not sure who's got him after Angie... and if he'd like to enjoy Bike Week in Daytona... he can catch that too, as long has he's here in time... let me know what his March travel plans are...

Karen, is your Dallas trip before Bike Week? Just let me know when you need Scoopie by and I'll send him to you.

Looked at weather.com for the forecast for next weekend in Louisiana ... highs in the 70s ... I can't wait!!! The weather looks like it'll be perfect for enjoying a Mardi Gras parade. Too bad we won't be able to spend Sun. in New Orleans. I just found out that my aunt & uncle have a condo on St. Charles Ave. (uptown New Orleans ... right on the parade route) and offered it to us for the day. Darn in-laws ... we have to spend time with them too.

I love that!! Must be why (among many reasons) that I love scuba diving so much. Very relaxing underwater. :thumbsup2

Hi Susan,

That is the time that we will be going too!! :cool1: It will be my DD and I on this tour. It looks like it very well could be a all DIS tour because I don't think they take very large groups. It looks like the USAF will be well represented too..as I am Retired USAF. We look forward to meeting everyone :teeth:

Mike :earsboy:
Go USAF, I'm hope it's a good tour. The reviews have been great!

What other excursions are you looking into? We like to snorkel and play at the beach, so we're looking for some jet ski rentals either at Cozumel or Costa Maya. We rented them on St. Maarten in 2004, it was great.

As far as we know, we're the only ones so far. We're supposed to meet at 8:30, also, for our tour. We'd be thrilled if you'd join us.
Why thank you! I'll put in right now and see if we can go with ya. :)

Sounds like fun closets to me! I'd even like that jumpsuit, but you wouldn't catch me trying it on.

OMG, Angie. I sounds JUST like my first pantsuit that I got in high school, only it wasn't a jumpsuit, it was pants and top, light green polyester with all the trimming. FYI that was around 1970. Hey, I'm proud of how old I am!

Sometimes those smart ones use their creative energies for thinking of better pranks. Which could mean that he's not engaged enough in his schoolwork, ie "not being challenged". I think you should toss that on the table at his next conference.

This is so very true. The original post made me think of my son so much... he gets in trouble (innocent pranks, can't shut up ever, etc. that type of stuff- nothing really serious but his teacher this year is advanced 2nd grade and she's SO strict! LOL) but he makes straight A's. He's in Gifted and talented and last year the counselor said she'd classify him as atleast near genius. Sometimes that's a joy- but if they aren't challenged enough... look out. LOL He's doing better this year but he has a lot on his plate this year too... he's in advanced 2nd grade, dual language program, and gifted & talented. We also keep him pretty busy with extracurricular activities (Boy scouts, awanas/church, and soccer) but sometimes I wonder if that's STILL not enough for him. He's driving me ballistic with all his ideas for the science project this year. LOL He needs to start bugging his DADDY about this stuff because I was never one to get into science projects as a child- I only did them when I had to! (now it's not required- but they can sign up to do it if they want- he definitely "wants". LOL)

But the same was true really for my oldest (youngest just started K, she's learning fast but still not to the point of not being "challenged" enough)-- in the early elementary years she also couldn't sit still, stop talking, getting out of seat, etc. We finally managed that by the teacher just giving her extra busy work when she completed her normal classwork... that worked great for her and still does (she's in 6th grade now).

On the one hand it's a blessing... sure makes it easy on me because I really don't think I'm the "teacher" type so I'm in trouble if/when we get to the point that *I* have to help teach them something... but on the other hand it can be tough to deal with at times- especially when you weigh in the behavioral/conduct issue... the bright ones tend to get in trouble if not challenged enough (and sometimes even if they are LOL). Like you said.. you keep hoping the teachers will cut some slack and notice the fact that the child is excellent in grades, just has a bit of an issue with using that creative energy in ways that are not exactly desired. LOL

Oh and this was a surprise (to me) TOP! LOL

I think we have decided on the Fury Catamaran Sail, Snorkel and Beach party for Cozumel. We are also going to try to get some parasailing in at Costa Maya after the tour. As far as Castaway Cay, Most likely the Stingray Adventure and maybe the banana boat if we don't catch that somewhere else before.

All this stuff y'all are mentioning- is most of it things you are booking thru DCL? And if so, can you cancel at a later date or stuck with it soon as you book it?

Sounds like we might not be doing enough? LOL I dunno...
So far all we've decided on is not much and most of it is up in the air! The only thing "concrete" is the scuba dive Jeff will be doing with WDWgoose & son (anyone else? beuller? bueller?) --- the only other thing we want to do at Cozumel is the dolphin stuff and not sure we'll be able to. Costa Maya I hope we get to do the Mayan Experience as it's the only thing that sounds great to us (and I told DH about it and he thought it would be great too!)

(some other alternative options I'm looking at is:
Atlantis submarine expedition at Cozumel if we can't do the dolphin thing...
Catamaran sail and snorkel & horseback adventure at Costa Maya if we can't do the Mayan Experience....
Glass bottom boat scenic voyage at CC...
What are your thoughts on these? And do you think we should book those things- especially at cozumel and costa maya just in case we can't do the other things planned/hoped for??? That's why I asked if we booked them, if we could cancel them at a later date- like if we get confirmation of Mayan Experience and if we are able to do the dolphin stuff by the time of our cruise?)

CC we were just going to see how things go. But now I'm thinking we should book things now? We were thinking of renting snorkeling stuff (for 2 and take turns- since one parent/one child is better for us than 2 adults trying to keep up with 3 kids snorkeling all at once). We figured CC would be our "beach" days... we're not all THAT big into "beach" time but we'd enjoy it a little and we figured what better place than CC. But you think we should book other things? Problem being with youngest still 5 at that time... not much we can book with her. (and it is not an option for us to leave her with club on the beach and go off the other 4 of us to do something. That's not cool! In our opinion anyway LOL)

Stressing stressing... it's getting that time to book stuff eh? LOL

PS. when we look at our reservations online it says late dining seating 8:30pm even though we're linked with everyone else for late dining -- right?

Those that have booked online before-- does that page change once you reach the right amount of days ahead or what? Just curious... first time for us (ofcourse) and I wonder if it just automatically knows when to change that page so you can book ahead... and does it change ON that day or the night before or what? I guess worrying it won't change (since we get to book early due to REAS pkg paid for) and we'll have to wait until Monday to call them about it or something?

Oh and another question. We have TWO rooms therefore 2 reservations. Will I have to go in on each reservation to make excursions/register the kids/etc. seperately? Or will I be able to do it all on one reservation? For instance make an excursion for all 5 of us while in the reservation for only one room that has the reservation with 3 of us in that room? I sure hope we don't have to do it seperate. I can see a nightmare there... book 3 of us on one excursion, go under the other reservation and try to book the other 2 of us and it's all taken and not able to book more of us? egads!

We did the Atlantis submarine at Coz on our first cruise. It was fun to do once, but now is a 'been there, done that'. We're hoping the Dolphin Discovery will be open (through DCL), otherwise we won't know what we're doing there.
We also did glass bottom boat at CC. I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you do Atlantis sub first. There just wasn't that much to see, and I was getting seasick on the boat, even after taking the meds every day on the Magic (which is why I won't do the Tulum ruins tour ferry ride).

Thanks for all the advice! Appreciate it!
If you can't tell- we were just trying to do things where you could see fish, but not be in there WITH them.. primarily because of how we're 3 to 2 on the kids/parent ratio and because our youngest is "almost" 6 on this cruise therefore can't do everything the rest of us could. But also because it would help my stress factor immensely. LOL
Okay scratch glass bottom boat at CC- I don't want to pay for something, not see anything, and possibly get seasick. We've never cruised before- we've been on boats a LOT though... but still. Even with meds you were getting seasick so that's not good for us. LOL

We haven't done it...but the first day is with DH & I and all the kids, the second one is just Jay & I. I'm thinking we're bound to see more out there than we would near the island...and we have to get that snorkeling time in!

Where do you snorkle at CC without doing an excursion, DS is still not a strong enough swimmer so we wanted to let him practice snorkeling where he can feel comfortable and not far from the beach. He has practiced in the pool and I have a wetsuit kinda float for him, he just doesn't have the body strenth.

HAY ALL
been slow at work GOOD THING

well I 'm glad I finally got this out, I tried a few times and would get bumped OFF

The first thing you will see at CC is the snorkel cove. They rent the equipment, it's listed as an excursion I think. You can swim out from the beach. It's a protected cove, with things to see "planted" around there.

That's what I thought, we have our own snorkle stuff and have just never taken it to CC with us but really want DS to practice, we took him to the great barrier reef and he would not snorkle there, would not even get in, of course we could not get DD out of the water so he really needs to learn now.
