All this talk about Coke and Pepsi... here I am eating my lunch, while the storm rages outside... and our soda machine is OUT OF EVERYTHING CAFFEINATED!!!!!!

STATE OF EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's it... time to go home. :rotfl:

That would send me packing, too!!

A T.O.P. with Kiki and Caffeine!!

Coke pay$ dearly to be the only brand choice on a cruise ship (and in restaurants, etc...) We run into it all the time with our business... by state law, alcohol beverage manufacturers cannot 'pay off' a retailer to be exclusive (so we can't do stuff like that)... if Pepsi had come forth with the larger check (and more freebies), they would be on the ship instead of Coke...

I like my explanation better....

Kiki and Stacey, haven't you ever heard of COFFEE????

Just ask GarRy!

The rain has almost stopped. The wind is gone. The sad news is that tomorrow is going to be cold. It is 61 degrees right now in Orlando and that cold air will be here within a few hours. That's almost as bad as a hurricane.

I'm really glad that the wind and rain have almost stopped....but the Gov did warn about being aware of the calm after the eye has passed....
As far as being cold???
BOO HOO!

The coffee in our office is just about the worst I've ever had... the rain has stopped (but the wind hasn't)... I might have to take a ride to Dunkin's....

Besides, coffee is the MORNING caffeine.........Pepsi is the AFTERNOON caffeine! :flower:

It's 58 here in DeLand right now... not raining any more, but the winds are still pretty high... looking forward to FINALLY sleeping with the windows open tonight!!!!!!

The rain has stopped here in Lake Mary, but we still have a lot of winds. Temperature is down to 56. We have the windows open now for the first time in months.

Hope all of our Florida neighbors made it through Wilma without any serious damage.

Wow, Wilma was truckin'! That was as fast as Charley, wasn't it?

Hoping Irene checks in soon. Looks like she was in the path?

Irene may not be posting for a few days. 3 million people are without power and she is in that area. The reports of damage are sketchy right now, but the power outages are wide spread.

The Weather Channel people are showing stuff like newspaper boxes turned over and debris littering the ground. Looks like the worst of it were high rises popping out windows, trees down, that kind of thing. I do get the impression(may be wrong) that they are stretching a bit to report on damage, like it isn't all that bad and they're hyping a bit to make it newsworthy. They just had the mayor of Naples on and he was quite positive, liked to hear that.

The thing to keep in mind with power outages, the utilities have huge circuit breakers on their lines, just like you do at home. Any short, even a temporary one from some piece of debris hitting a line or such can trip them. Then the surge from a tripped line can pop two others, you get the idea. It's a balanced system normally, but these kind of things temporarily unbalances them.

Now the utility has to check thru the whole line that is tripped to make sure it isn't still shorted before they turn it back on. Time is all it's going to take to get a lot of them back up, besides replacing any downed/damaged lines.

Hope everyone's ok. Power and windows and trees can be replaced. :)

DIANA

I'm cross posting this here b/c I don't know how many of you ex-10 dayers still read the old thread:

Hey all.....remember the ornament exchange and the coveted Moose "ornament" that KT ended up with???

Well, I opened my Colorful Images catalog today and found this:

471260C_md.jpg

You can get it personalized with whatever you want....like Key West, St. Lucia...etc!! :) The only troubles I see is that there is a limit of 10 characters on the ornaments...Castaway Cay is more than that...and the banner in front of him has a limit of 12 characters....and "Dis Holiday Cruisers" is too long. You'll have to be creative...

Here's mine for reference:

Ok, ok, it's NOT *mine*.....it's KT's. And she makes sure we remember that! :)

That was so cool!! I think that thing set the record for stealing and back stabbing at the ornament exchange!! :rotfl2:

That was the coolest ornament! I might just have to get one.

Where are all of our blabbermouths tonight??

I'm going to sit down (finally) and watch Prison Break, hopefully not fall asleep half way through...and wait for Jordan to call for a ride. They are at the football field watching a movie. Part of the festivities for Homecoming week. Today was "Wear Your Jammies To School Day". Don't half of them do that, anyway?? :confused3

Don't expect to hang this guy on your tree. He's pretty big and heavy. And no string! (you'd have to tie a "noose" around his neck to hang him)....

Ha....a moose noose. :)

Anyway....no one would want to watch a movie outside here today. It's 36 degrees and has been RAINING all day. Cold and wet. Lovely. It even started to snow for an hour! Brrrrrrrr

PJ's to school. Only did that once....for Halloween. Went as a baby and wore my footy pj's. We were having trouble with KT's ballet class. They were all coming in jeans and Pj's that dragged and not focusing on dancing. This year they made a new class "advanced ballet." And every week you are graded on your outfit, your hair (is it out of your eyes) are you ready to dance, do you pay attention, are you doing the moves correctly, etc etc. So far the girls have been SO focused it's SCARY!!! KT is loving it b/c she couldn't stand the constant redirecting of all the other girls. The girls must maintain a good score or else they could get kicked out of the class. Plus, their parts in the recital will be determined by their scores. :)

I had a freaky day. Mike did school with KT this morning, which left me the afternoon. Right about the time I tried to start school with her I got a horrendous headache (migraine like, but no aura that I remember) So she got through one subject and I let her off easy. Didn't get squat done that I wanted to get done today, but oh well, there's always tomorrow. :)
