Mark - how do I look for WEP and what does it stand for? I think I have to call my ISP up.

Thanks for the advice.

Maria

It's in the device transmitting(router, wireless access point, whatever is making your home internet wireless) and your portable device, it's a protocol, you enable it to secure wireless networks from outside intrusions, a pretty standard thing. Somplace both devices should have instructions.

Stands for Wired Equivalent Privacy. Basically it encrypts all transmitted data both ways with this passcode that you set. (probably lost you there)

Edited to add: I don't know that much about it other than advice I've read from others that you need to turn either of them on, or anyone wandering by can access your wireless. I don't have any in my house, but I can pick up the connections from neighbors with my notebook if it's on. Don't know them that well or I'd tell them too.

Mark - thanks for the advice. I will definetly check this out. I know when I was hooking this up and it was looking for a wireless connection, it listed my neighbor's but it said "secured" under theirs. I will call LInksys tomorrow. That's the router that I have. I'm not near it so I can't tell you the exact model.

Thanks again.

Maria

Cozumel had armed guards on the roofs of the buildings...right where the main shopping was, and where the old cruise terminal used to be. At first I thought it may be for our safety, but then I thought it was possible that they were still in position to prevent looting of the buildings that are still destroyed and in the process of rebuilding. I imagine those materials for construction aren't cheap down there.

I can't remember a time when we've ever been worried on any island or trip in broad daylight. Well, there was that Guatemala jungle episode...but other wise, I think if you stay with a group, get back on the ship before dark, you'll be fine. These places do rely on our money.
Costa Maya at least has the huge terminal area with what at least looks like a nice pool (bigger than the ship's anyway) and a couple of good restaurants. And I feel completely confident that we'll be safe there.

Is every one watching football or like me.......waiting for the server to serve :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Watching the game with our son and the two cheerleaders. It's more than a little noisy in here. And I am getting really irritated with the busy server thing. I thought for sure I lost that whole long post! Going to go check out the t-shirts again......

watching football and cross stitching. preping for vacation? nah! ;)

rooting for texas b/c then I can say the Buckeyes ONLY lost 2 games this year....one to the national championship winner and the other to the Orange Bowl winner :)

Besides, if Texas wins, when we play them next year it'll be great if we can say "we beat the reigning national championship team." :)

I kind of like the different font for the "Il Pochi"....makes it more recognizable as a foreign language, I think. And are the scoops of ice cream going to be in color? If so, I'm thinking the only good color for a shirt would be white!

And you win the cupie doll. That's why I did it in two different fonts. And you don't know how long it took me to figure out how to make the top curve of text not upside down.

Wee... a Top! with Stacey, cupie dolls and foreign languages...

So the Boards were down for maintenance, I was going through withdrawal, the girls were bummed because they wanted USC to win, and NOW none of our quotes are showing up! Too funny. But at least we're back on board.

Been searching Costa Maya again. I know Jay & Jared will want to snorkel. I'd be happy just getting wet at the beach. If we aren't snorkeling in Cozumel, I don't see the sense in dragging all of our gear for just Costa Maya.....unless....we do the Seahorse Snorkel at Castaway Cay. Decisions, decisions. Can't use the gear they let you use for free...we have prescription lenses and wouldn't be able to see a thing w/o them.

Mark, I'll be checking my mail for the Cupie doll! ;)

Hi to all my former cruise mates! I don't want to hijack your thread, but just wanted to say that I notice you all are going to break the 10 day cruise posting record here. Now why doesn't that surprise me???

Have a great day, and boy do I wish I was going with you all!

Lisa!

True enough. If diving was offered, or even "supported" (ie air tank fills, weights) I would more more enthusiastic!! Gotta agree with the kid, it's still OK!!

Thinking more about this: Drinking fruity drinks and sitting around with our DIS friends over on the adult beach......... Priceless!!

That was our plan the last trip but we snorkeled the entire day and did not make it to the adult beach - see Stace - there is hope.

DH and I are quite happy to stay on the ship besides CC, we have been to Cozumel and Costa Maya, kids will probably want to shop and get off so we will have to see.

After seeing the cost of excursions for Alaska we may have to just save it for that haha.

Oh, more pressure. We are planning on Alaska for 2007 and I had not stopped to think about shore excursions costs......As Scarlet said, I will worry about that tomorrow....

I KNOW we won't get off in Costa Maya.......I just don't like all the police walking around with BIG guns on the roofs. What would happen if they weren't there???????

Fran
:teacher:

We ran into that in Italy - you just walk faster.....But this helps with my contemplation of renting a car and driving ourselves - not gonna happen....If I want to see ruins, it will be a shore excursion...and I do want to see the mayan ruins.

Mark - I like the design. I'll have to print this out and see what we can do with it. How does everyone feel about that design?

Maria

Mark - me too - I like the design......

Stace - We passed up the Seahorse snorkel on our November trip - and are seriously considering it for May - Can we take over one whole boat? And besides, it's not that much gear to drag....(well, for us, cause we are driving...diving too at least in Cosumel.)

Can't believe I made it though the entire last night posts and no one has said Good Morning yet and I am late.

Could not make the entire game last night - crashed after half time - but Congrats Texas Longhorns......

Trying to work on my cruise item each day....Need to wish list my excursions today. Still unsure about which Mayan Ruin...Also for Seahorse excursion, which day???? Gotta find the reservation number, and must pay off the cruise as well.
