Question for Mr. Scuba.....

If the OSU Buckeye game is going to be televised on Saturday, September 3rd, where on Disney property would be the best place for some rabid Buckeye fans to watch the game. Preferrably as close to Downtown Disney as possible, but we will have a car and so *could* travel if necessary.

Of course, this question isn't for me, I couldn't be considered "rabid." It's for ohiomickey and KT---to help KT ease the pain of missing THREE home games this year!!

TIA!

I see others have mentioned ESPN on Boardwalk, but I would rather watch the game at All Stars Cafe at the Wide World of Sports. It is less crowded than the ESPN room, they have large screen TV's around the whole room, they have the radio boxes at the table so you can hear the game, they will have several games on at the same time, they have the NTN trivia game (Matt loves it), the parking is easier, and they don't mind people "camping" for the afternoon.

We have been in All Stars when there were no events at WWS and have been the only people in the place. They open at 11:00 so if it is the early game just be there when they open.

ESPN and All Stars are the two best places near WDW.

You could have just left the top for the early morning people! :guilty:

:flower1: Good morning cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Friday!

Jim - great tip about All Star Cafe. Never been there but it sounds like a great place.

Good Morning All - It has been a busy week. Emmy was here for a sleep over, workmen everywhere, slow dial up, whew. I don't have structural damage in the front of the house at ground level. The building contractor will be here today or tomorrow about the roof and frame. The landscaping plan had to change since the grade in the front of my house was too steep. Anyway, I will now have a 'paver' retaining wall and patio w/ a walk. Also 2 new double gates for mower access into the yard. With all the cruises booked next year we will be sitting in beach chairs, no extra $$$ for patio furniture.

be in your room or at the ESPN club. Then to get to Downtown Disney you just catch a bus.

This is for 9/3, so we won't have a room at WDW that day. ESPN club is where? Wide World of Sports?

That's right - forgot you were staying by the port.

ESPN is on the Boardwalk. Wide World of Sports is over by All Star Resorts I think. I know we've passed it before.

Boardwalk - ESPN Zone......

But why would ANYBODY go out of their way to watch OSU?????

AH, my question is answered.

KT is having a hard time with games this year. You know, she has season tickets with Mike. This year she'll miss two home games b/c of the cruise/WDW and she'll miss the ONLY October home game because of Mike's half sister's wedding (KT is in it) So of the 7 games this year, she's missing three. I think it's more she's going to miss her special time with Mike. They make a day of it and it's pretty special to her. So Mike's hoping to at least watch the game with her somewhere. :)

btw, she thinks it's VERY rude for someone to plan their wedding without first consulting the OSU schedule!!!

Hi Virgil! Will finally be getting the desk to UPS tomorrow....had the kids put it in the car today. At least you won't wait as long for that as you did the Christmas tree! ;)

HEY! I resemble that remark! I'm taking it down this weekend!! :)

Thanks everyone for the info on where to watch the game.

We sure don't need the drama queen having a breakdown at DTD! :)

Good morning all! Happy Friday!!!! :flower:

We had open house at the elementary school yesterday. Emily will be starting K on Mon. She was VERY nervous. I think we just all felt like outsiders. It was vey overwhelming. We've felt very "safe" over the past 5 years at day care.

I was sort of put off by her teacher. It seemed like she was more pre-occupied with with chatting with former students than she was with making her new students & parents feel welcome. I hope that's not an indication of how the year will be. The aid talked to us more than the teacher did. Any advice from all of you who have been through this before (especially you Fran, since you're the teacher)? Emily's b-day is coming up and the teacher did mention that to her. I asked if they do any sort of treats and she said that we could send snacks (cupcakes) for the kids and that I was welcome to come have lunch with her. Maybe I'll do that.

Where I come from, there are big LSU fans. My friend got married on the day of a big game. She conceeded and had a TV on in the bar area at the reception. Neither she nor her husband were fans.

Smart bride!

KT has already told me that she'll make sure her wedding isn't on game day! If she accidentally plans it on game day she says she's going to the Horseshoe instead of her own wedding. She'll go to the game in her wedding dress!! ;)

She also said her groomsmen will have grey tuxes and her bridesmaids will wear scarlet. Scarlet and grey! ;)

DH is already grooming the girls to be LSU fans. They have their cheerleader outfits & pompoms. Heaven help us if we're still in GA when it's time for them to go to college and they decide on UGA. At least LSU is in the SEC West while UGA is the SEC East.

Need to call the cable company. We bought an HDTV at the beginning of the year. Bruce is reminding me that football season is starting and he wants to watch the games in HDTV. More $ out the window!!!

time for a TOP?

A TOP shared with Angie!!!

I usually take the open houses in stride - Mike's teacher wasn't even at the beginning of school open house - she was very terse at the 3rd grade parents orientation night. I ended up being room mom and while she wasn't warm and fuzzy, she was/is a wonderful, witty person. Mike really excelled in her class and considers her a favorite. They've been in workshops, etc all week, I know they are exhausted.

Most kids also enjoy saying "hi" to their former teachers. I think that's a good sign, the kids cared enough about her to come back...

Between other parents and kids trying to get the teachers' attentions, we usually just make sure the kids know where their rooms are and then escape -er - head out - it's usually a madhouse...

Get involved, volunteer, if you can, it's the best way to get to know the teacher's personalilty and classroom style. Try not to judge based on the open house...

Oh, I distinctly remember the crowd at my parents house after my own wedding to watch the Red Sox in the playoffs... myself and Ray included... (thankfully, we only had the reception hall til 6, and the game was at 7). How's that for a romantic way to spend your wedding night! :rotfl2:

It's Friday!!! Kareoke Time!!!

Here's a bit of Beachboys keeping with today's morning conversations!!!

When some loud braggart tries to put me down
And says his school is great
I tell him right away
Now what’s the matter buddy
Ain’t you heard of my school
It’s number one in the state

So be true to your school now
Just like you would to your girl or guy
Be true to your school now
And let your colors fly
Be true to your school

I got a letterman’s sweater
With a letter in front
I got for footbal and track
I’m proud to where it now
When I cruise around
The other parts of the town
I got a decal in back

So be true to your school now
Just like you would to your girl or guy
Be true to your school now
And let your colors fly
Be true to your school

On friday we’ll be jacked up on the football game
And I’ll be ready to fight
We’re gonna smash ’em now
My girl will be working on her pom-poms now
And she’ll be yelling tonight

So be true to your school now
Just like you would to your girl or guy
Be true to your school now
And let your colors fly
Be true to your school

Rah rah rah be true to your school
Rah rah rah be true to your school
Rah rah rah be true to your school
Rah rah rah be true to your school

Speaking of school colors, just had to do it in mine - GO BG!!!
