That's what I said! So at least it proves either
A. I'm not crazy, or
B. We both are.

Nope, I agree - My kids love to have a sitter visit, they get one so rarely. The final time a certain sitter babysat for us was after her comment that she sent the kids away to play by themselves because she wanted to read her book, and they were bothering her...(An adult who charges $12/hr...)

Go with your instincts...

Way to go there Stacey!! Very good answer.

We desert folks use the slang term Swamp cooler, because when it is not dry it can make the house feel "swampy". Kind of like Florida right about now......

That's their industry name up here in the north, where we use them in the summer for cooling in the plant at work. We have two on the roof that are each about the size of a shed, and have a double pad that this flinging device tosses water up onto pads to keep them wet that air is drawn thru and blown into the plant, that sound similar?

Now that I have reached that "certain age"...I wish our cooler was as big as a shed! Seems to be flashing hot in here all the time lately..;)

Karen....100% absolutely with you on the babysitter issue. I wouldn't even want to hear one of my kids' friends make a joke like that...it's just not funny. We had a miserable time finding sitters here. Lots of wealthy families whose girls didn't need to work to have money....but we found two who were great. One used to draw for the kids, she was a marvelous artist.

Well....we made it through the whole day today with the little dog only having one accident in the house. He loves to go to the door...enjoys being outside after almost 2 years of being an "apartment dog". I still would have just as soon not had a dog again....but this may just work out okay.

The fires have turned south again. They are now burning right over our ridge, again. Tonight Jay and I could see the flames from our back patio. Enough, already. We're hoping that most of its fuel is gone on our side of the mountain.
We ran into some friends tonight who had just come back from their 2nd home in New Mexico.....were here only a couple of weeks...and lost their home here. Tonight they were going to a meeting to see if they could finally go back and see what's salvagable, and begin clean-up. So far, we only know 3 who lost their homes. Most of the structures that burned were cabins for vacationers...and empty. Hallelujah!
Did I mention the little dog's name is Ash? I hope it's not an omen. I wanted them to name him Gizmo...he looks like a Gizmo. The other day, Jordan had cleaned her room and found her Furbie. Anyone remember those?? The dog goes totally nuts with that thing. It is soooo funny to watch. And yesterday, I got a fax, and he stood and growled at the fax machine. I guess he's kinda cute.

This is how I used to get my post count up. I always used to sit here and talk to myself late at night. I'm usually one of the few "west coasters"....

I finalized the video tapes from the Mexican Riviera cruise tonight. What fun...I'm ready to go back RIGHT NOW! I can't believe I stood and taped the whole incident of the couple who almost missed the ship in Mazatlan. But I was still out there when the Carnival Pride was singing M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E to us....so I have that on tape too.....and all the people from Mazatlan who came down to wave us off, little ones yelling "Adios Mickey!"

Jordan and her friend just came out here...first time they noticed the fire. We have a nervous nelly in Jordan.
Anyway....her friend just said to me "You're an old lady, you need to go to bed". I think they must want the computer. Lucky for her, I knew she was kidding. She'd be an ugly cheerleader with no teeth. :teeth:

Sadly, she's right. I have to work :earseek: tomorrow. Payroll, end of the month books...and will most likely have quarterly reports waiting. Fun fun.
Such is life. I'll pretend I'm a dwarf and whistle...:rolleyes1

Night all!!

And you guys thought I was shy!

Wait till you meet my twin, Lisa.:scared:

Pray for rain...........

I think you mean:

Necesitamos la lluvia poner hacia fuera el fuego. ¡Ruegue para la lluvia!

Meaning - We need rain to put out the fire. Pray for rain!

Jim - I think you need to fly over Stacey on the way to Costa Rica.....

Happy Friday!

Woo Hoo! It is finally Friday! Plus we have a long weekend! I know - I've only been back to work one week. What can I say - I love my time off!

Have a great day everyone!

Prayers and pixie dust going out to all that need them!

Good Morning All - Emmy is a HANDFUL. She is a very busy 5yo. And she has no fear, chickens especially!!!!!!!!!!

Today I'm out of here. :moped: The backpack is filled and not with wine this time. I'll enjoy the local stuff.

If all goes well, tonight I will have dinner with Matt. 6 weeks has been a long time, but I guess that is preparing us for the "empty nest".

There is just one more thing to do today before leaving for the airport. I need to go and drop off a check for my new life insurance policy that goes into effect today. For some reason Sharon wanted it in place before I repelled down a waterfall. :confused3

Tonight should be something like this:

Jim and Matt, Costa Rica, November 2004

Don't hit 10,000 without me. :rotfl2:

Good Friday morning everyone. Time for Friday kareoke. For some of us folks, my selection is (and this will date me):

Rain Dance
The Guess Who
Written by Burton Cummings and Kurt Winter

- peaked at #19 in 1971

Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?

Fifi said to Don the baker
"Can ya show me how to bake another bun, Don?"
And I'm still sittin' with my next door neighbour
Sayin', "Where'd ya get the gun, John?"

Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?

Christopher was asking the astronomer
"Can your telescope tell me where the sun's gone?"

Changin' just a few things
Laughin' while the bell rings on the door
Changin' just a few things
Shootin' when the bird sings

------ lead guitar ------

Changin' just a few things
Laughin' while the bell rings on the door
Changin' just a few things
Shootin' when the bird sings

Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?
Don't ya wanna rain dance with me?

Jim - have a wonderful time! Tell Matt we said Hi! and that we missed seeing him when we were down in June.

Can't wait to read about all your adventures when you get back!

When I started getting all these eggs from my chickens, I had to look up on the internet how to hard-boil them. I had done it before, but always guessed and sometimes never came out right.

I can hard boil them, I just wish I knew how to soft boil them. It's been YEARS since I've had a soft boiled egg. :(
