Jim,

How is the Driver's Training going with Matt. Seems like I remember seeing something about Matt learning to drive. Is he taking driver's ed, or are you doing the teaching. My son Dale is 15 and is doing the Driver's Ed through the community college I work for. He took a written at the beginning to get his learner's permit, but now he is supposed to take a driving and a written this week to pass the course. I had him drive home yesterday from my MIL's and then to and from church this morning and then home from Wal-Mart this afternoon. I figured getting throught he Wal-Mart parking lot was a lesson in itself. He won't actually get his license until next June when he turns 16, but I figure this way he gets used to a lot of driving with us before we turn him loose on his own.

It is a scary feeling having one of your children driving you around.

School starts here tomorrow, 8/1. I don't know what happened to the summer this year. It seems like school was just out. DS is starting his senior year in high school, so I'm sure this school year is going to fly by, as well. Maybe that is a good thing, since we cruise two days after his graduation.

Wow, congratulations on your son being a senior. What an exciting year it will be for him. Florida schools must start really early. The Texas Legislature is trying to change our schools start dates by making all school within the state start after Sept. 1. A lobbyist told me that the travel industry was really pushing it so they could have longer summer vacations. We won't know for a while, because we are now starting our 2nd legislative session, because they can't reach a decision on the school finance reform issue.

It's been a quiet weekend on the thread.

Kiki, good luck with the house showing!

Yesterday we were out & about most of the day. It's a tax-free weekend here in GA. So we went buy the necessary parts to fix the computer. We're up & running again with a faster processor than before! We also went to an outlet malll & were able to find Emily a pair of mary janes for the winter time. She's got my narrow foot. Poor thing was in tears yesterday because she wanted a new pair of sandals but we couldn't find any to fit.

Last night Bruce mentioned to the girls that we'd be going on a Disney Cruise next year. Emily started crying & said that she didn't want to go because she was scared that the boat would get a hole in it and sink. Where did an almost 5 year old come up with that???!!! Bruce calmed her down by saying that there were little boats on the big boat in case that ever happened. I mentioned something the kids' club. She said that she didn't want to go unless I could go too. I told her to talk to her friend Sami about it. Sami will be going on her 3rd Disney cruise in Sept. Hopefully by next year she'll change her mind about going to the club. We watched the DCL video last night.

This morning we went to Wal-mart for school supply shopping. What a madhouse! We're trying to get the girls settled for a nap now. When they wake, we'll go furniture shopping.

Have a great Sun. everyone!
Ang
Yeh!! for a faster computer that runs when you want it to!!

It's amazing sometimes what kids can come with isn't?? Show pictures! The Magic is truly "Magic"!! She'll come around....

Kevin, Mike my neighbor is going to get a GPS. He is looking at a Garmin. BestBuy has the 2720. He wants me to spend some time with yours this weekend since he likes to buy from Costco. The things I have to do!
Money magazine just rated 5 GPS models. Their pick was Magellan eXplorist 600 followed by Garmin GPSMAP60CS. The other 3 models were rated a little lower. We can't justify one, yet...

I had a bit of a stiff neck and Saturday I ended up bed bound for the morning b/c I could not get out of bed without the thing spasming and knocking me over (literally) I typically have a very high pain tolerance but this was beyond pain! Luckily (?) my mom had some muscle relaxants left over from when she hurt her back and I took those and, after sleeping for a few hours, at least could get up without intense pain.

Then in the evening we headed to my parents 50th wedding anniversary party. I know I seemed rude b/c I couldn't converse with many people....between not being able to look left and/or right plus the side effects of the drugs, I was a real joy to be around.
Bummer about the neck problem :guilty: Hope you feel better soon!
Can you get Mike to make dinner?? :earboy2:

Speaking of that, when does everyone's schools start. The High School starts on August 15, by my daughter who is going into 6th grade starts on Friday, August 12. They let the 6th graders go in by themselves this day so they can get used to the school.

Didn't even realize I got a top, woohoopirate:
School starts here August 17. Registration is next week, so will get the tentative end date then. It all depends on how many snow days are needed. This year it was May 18 with no snow days; hoping it will be that early next year so we can leave for WDW on the 20th with a couple of stops along the way.

I'm so proud of myself. I've got both of our pc's connected to our wireless home network. What a treat to be able to get to the DIS boards no matter what room I'm in. Now, if I could just learn to type while I'm on the treadmill...

Alicia needs to be back in class August 12 I believe. Was the 11th, but then she got accepted to the Performing Arts Academy and they start a day later.

We can squeeze on more dive trip in before the grueling schedule starts again!! (like my empathy??)

I'm hoping that everyone is having a great time at WDW. We've still only been there once. Hoping to spend a couple of days there before the cruise. I just made reservations for off-site, Tropical Palms studio with kitchen for around $66 per night. I can justify the $7/day parking, now, and splurging on dinners every night. Now debating what days to spend at which parks. DS and DH like MK, I like MGM. Sounds like a couple of days of park-hoppers for us.

Both those look nice. I have the car mounted unit, but I'm sure there would be times when the hand held would be VERY useful!!

Jim, I'm packing it up Tuesday. We have to be at the airport at 5:15am Wednesday morning for the flight out. Should make for a long day......

I don't think I want to!! :rotfl: I use an elliptical runner that works pretty well. There is NO way I could type while doing that!! :confused3

Sharon would rather do a group breakfast than spend time in the park with just me.

As long as she lets you go WITH her, you're all set. Hey wait... wouldn't it be considered a 'character' breakfast EVERY morning with you?

Sure sounds like it!

Well... we'll have a signed contract in hand on our house tomorrow; we should be moving by the end of September, if not sooner. So my DIS'ing time at home will now be replaced by packing. (Guess that means I'll be DIS'ing at work...) I HATE packing... when we moved to FL, Ray was here a month before I was, so I packed up 90% of the house by myself... THAT's not gonna happen again!!!!

Well, I hope that the excitement builds at your house. We are crusing in Nov. so whatever we can do to help make it "better" let us know - postcards, pictures, Scoppie hanging by a thread over the veranda -- ok, :rotfl2: sorry about the last one. I meant the first two.

We left here Friday afternoon and headed to my parents. Went to Longhorn for dinner, then out to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (again)

We came home late late late and then got up early to go to church---KT was supposed to hook up with a camp buddy but she ended up not making it to church. Did find out, sadly, that KT's cabin counselor's husband died suddenly last week though. 52 yrs old. :( KT was friends with her daughter.

So that's my update and why I haven't been around much. :)

congratulations to your parents on their 50th - WW. :bride: :groom:

and I hope you feel better. :goodvibes

I'm sure others will post more of the details. I just don't want to get in trouble posting things that should stay at WDW.

Wrong City --- what happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas....now spill on WDW...... :Pinkbounc  :rotfl2: :rotfl: :goodvibes

What she said!

(I meant to say so in my post, but hit that submit button before I was ready... and I'll need to keep my post count up, as my time will be limited soon.)

Hope you're feeling better soon!!!
