Pam, so glad everything went well and they're lucky to have a daughter like you to take care of them.

Amanda,

Don't you live in Georgia ?? My DH is down there near someplace called Glencoe(??) not sure of the spelling. He said it is very hot and humid. Told him that he is preparing for our 9 days at WDW.

Good Morning All - Beautiful am here, 45 and partly cloudy, birds singing, sun trying to peek thru, coffee in my hand.........

:flower1:Good morning cruisers!:flower1:

Happy Thursday!

Sue - your weather sounds wonderful. Woke up here to thunderstorms. Well we do need the rain, but could do without the thunder and lightening. :umbrella:

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning, All!

You can tell school is winding down and the weather is nice - slow night on the boards....Have a great day!!!

I talked to Red today. We are getting all the final details lined up. Picking up tanks, weights, flag on Tuesday. Packing the blender on Wednesday! :rotfl2:
Great! I'll bring the "sitter":teeth:

Ditto on the cloudy and thunderstorms. Thunder is rumbling in the distance as I type, but should clear up here and get to a balmy 72 degrees. Yesterday was the last day of school here. DS starts back again on August 17, which means they will get out in plenty of time for us to take a leisurely drive to WDW before the cruise. We'll get the final school calendar with report cards tomorrow. We're thinking of pulling our pop-up camper and staying at Ft. Wilderness. Any of you ever stay there, and is it worth the extra ??.

Amanda, I sent you a PM.

Sandi

Sandi, there's a thread on the DIS for Camping at WDW, it's all about Ft. Wilderness. According to the folks that post there, it's the best campground anywhere!

Monica, it's also the season to wrap up all those TV shows we've been watching. Survivor, Idol, etc. We were watching the "semi-finales" of Lost and Alias last night, they finish up next week while we are flying to Orlando. Now, that was poor planning on our part! We will DVR it, of course.

Pam, that's good news! Glad to hear it.

We should have recorded all that stuff from last night too. My butt is still sore......

Yes, I've read through that thread and even have it bookmarked. I just thought maybe some of my soon-to-be fellow cruisers had an opinion on FW. Not that anyone on the OTHER thread would be biased about FW;) .

I just heard on the news that Allstate is cancelling all home insurance for Florida residents. What a crock!!

Wished I had Allstate, so I could cancel them!! :sad2:

While we didn't camp at FW, We stayed in the cabins - we loved the whole area! It's beautiful, wooded - the kids had a blast exploring. The transpo depending on where you want to go involves transfering at FWL and/or the transportation center. So, plan extra time. The inter-camp bus system makes it easy to get around the camp, too.

Forgot about end of season shows, don't have DVR, so, I've been doing netflix I'm catching up on the series' (In the 3rd season of West Wing) I haven't seen in between introducing the kids to my favorite shows - they're watching Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew mysteries and Speed racer. This summer, I plan on starting the 1st season of Alias and 24...

Watched AI once, didn't click w/me - give me a book any day...About, the only thing I watch with regularity is Extreme Home Makeover...We get together regularly with friends for an Extreme party on Sunday nights...

We have stayed there and it is the only campground Sharon will stay in. It's the Hilton of campgrounds. Everything is clean and perfect. They even blow off the pad when someone checks out.

Make sure you do the Review when you are there. The campfire at night is pretty good too.

Welcome to Florida. That is just a fact of life we live with down here. It's really not as bad as it sounds. They already have other options lined up for their customers. Allstate is just behind what State Farm, Hartford, Traveler......did to their customers.

You can't payout $20 billion in insurance claims within one year and not expect some fall out. There are more changes coming.

The best season of Alias was Season 1! Yes, Netflix is great for that. When we had it, I got all the seasons of SATC that I had never seen. Another excellent, addictive show on DVD now is Gilmore Girls. I recently bought Wonderfalls on DVD for Alicia's birthday. It's quirky and fun, but they only aired four episodes. So the DVD is like watching a new show.

Yikes! So what ARE you doing for insurance? Does it cost as much as your mortgage? Between spiraling property values, estimated property taxes, and insurance, our dream of moving to central FL seems to be moving away from us. I told Kevin maybe we could afford to live up in Ocala or Gainesville. Then we'll be towing our trailer down to Ft. Wilderness too!

Another interesting tidbit I read recently. A lot of the hurricane damage from last year still isn't fixed, because there's a shortage of FL licensed contractors. I know a NM contractor that needs to start studying for his FL license!

Between spiraling property values,

Saw an article in the Orlando Sentinal when I was down there....

A couple bought a house for $144,000 last year....and ONE year later sold it for $248,000!!! And they hadn't done major improvements to it. Yeowser!!

Just a quick note to say I got back from Las Vegas visiting with WVMD (Virgil) and Frances. We had a really nice time. I have no more money now than when I left......I hate to call myself a "loser", but if the shoe fits.......

Anyway, lots of catching up to do here before my parents arrive for their visit tomorrow....HI to everyone!!

You have to pay to live in paradise. It's not cheap like people talk about. But when you are drinking coffee Saturday morning by the pool or planning a business trip to go diving...it's worth it! :cool1:

Homeowners insurance is nothing compared to contractors insurance. Those poor people are stuck dealing with me and it is very expense for home builders. If I remember correctly there was an emergency order that allowed contractors to come in from other states to make emergency repairs, but that will probably expire before you finally get over here. :guilty:
