Not by a long shot! LOL They have those in FLA also and I was suckered in there once! LOL I think Green chili is definitely a northern New Mexico thing! LOL

Not necessarily. Green chili is a staple in El Paso. You can go to the grocery store and buy 40 pounds of green chili and have it roasted for you there so that you can take it home and put it in your freezer for next several months. We pretty much use green chili in everything. El Paso is known for its great mexican food.

That's true! The BEST area for growing the wonderful stuff is down in Southern NM, Hatch to be exact. With all the rain and moisture we have had this winter, the "experts" are predicting a buggy chili crop. Bummer! :sad2:

Here's the long awaited picture of Maggie - Major disclaimer - I took the picture - In no way does it reflect upon John's talent as a photographer - If you'd see his camera - you'd understand my difficulties unless it was on dummy mode :rotfl2: ... - John tried to color correct it as much as he could quickly in photo shop. The dance was a latin theme...

Awwww precious Monica!

Awwww......thank you, Monica......what a doll !!! Seems like only yesterday mine were that little.....VERY cute!

Chile is better during the droughts. It's HOTTER! :headache: Not that I like it really, really hot. Pam, hasn't El Paso been annexed into New Mexico yet?

Monica, the picture is great. She looks adorable. But sorry, not grown up. When they get taller than you and wear more makeup than you, now that's grown up! :scared1:

It seems like some of you have booked excursions already through non-disney vendors.

Is this something I need to do now (will probably play it safe and do just disney organized excursions) or do I have time? I am not sure if I even can do it this early. I guess I contact my TA for that. (All Seasons)

Also, on the main board I have heard about the Passporter. Worth it? I bought Birnbaums and it really didn't tell me much I did not know already. Will the new passorter concentrate on the west coast ir will it give me any new information. I have already been on the 4 day so I am not totally clueless.

Throw on a bit of lip gloss - and she already wears more make up than I do... :teeth: She's a little athlete, or as her best-boy-friend calls her a "cool girl" - and like me usually runs around in t-shirts, shorts, or sweats, with un-kempt hair - to see her in a dress & heeled sandals takes a bit of getting used to... :wizard:

Jim, We're not brave enough to do excursions on our own so, we usually book through DCL - In our opinion, the extra $ is usually worth the peace of mind guaranteeing the boat will wait if the excursion runs late. I know others have had great success on their own and with much smaller groups...

Last year, I found a passporter at the local bookstore and thumbed through it - In my experience, I learned the same information, tips and even more information by lurking and asking questions on the boards...The passporter was a lot better than Birnbaums - by a long shot - having it all organized would be handy - I just kept a word document file on the computerand added various tips and hints as I came across them on the DIS board, then I had my own customized travel guide...

We usually do something on our own (in ports we are very familiar with like Key West or St. Thomas) or we do DCL excursions. I think what you have seen being booked already are things like the Royal Swim In Cozumel that have a very limited number of opening.

I think the Passporter is much better than the Birbaum book. In fact I'm going to have a tip printed in the next Passporter. A free resource that I found is also great is The Magical Disney Cruise Guide. Click on the name to bring up the pdf.

Enjoy your planning.

Mary....you're going to be PUBLISHED?? Cool!! Now I'll have to get a new Passporter, like I needed an excuse!

We'll go with DCL for the Tulum Ruins, but not sure what else we'll do.....

Stacey- we're doing Tulum too! We finally get to be on an excursion together!

Jim,

We booked the Dolphin Royal Swim in Cozumel directly through Dolphin Discovery. This is not an excursion offered by Disney. The one offered by disney is that you get to stand in water versus actually swimming with the Dolphins. They only allow 8 per group and we have 7 in ours, so it was important to book this early. I think it depends on where you are at to determine if you want to book something on your own or not. I am pretty comfortable with Cozumel. We did Cozumel on our own last time and had no problems. In Grand Cayman, we booked an excursion through Disney. In Key West, we went out on our own. Usually Disney is over priced on the excursions.

Mary, that's very cool! Will you "spoil" your tip for us? Of course, we'll still buy the book!

Is the Tulum tour the one where you get the chance to snorkel through the cenotes? That kind of appealed to me.
