Actually it looks like both the Sony and the Konica will take the older lenses. If they are manual then you need a converter....

The Sony camera is the basically the same sensor that is used in the Nikons (D80 and D200 -- Sony makes the sensors for Nikon, but Nikon's version have additional features)

My lenses are all manual - so it seems that I can use a Maxxum or Sony with an adapter and the threads do not seem to think that they are worth the effort.....

You see why I am so tied to my old system....and why none of this new technology makes any sense....a new learning curve. but the resources you posted are very helpful...I like the discussion sites for general information. checked some at lunch today, still researching....now I have to go research Konica, for some reason, I thought Konica/Minolta had discontinued digital...



Read some more, there is a Minolta that sounded appealing from some reviewers, but they are no longer made...You can find some, perhaps new and used, but???? do I want to go with a camera that is no longer made????

I would not. Digital has made leaps and bounds in the past couple of years. An old camera is obsolete! I don't think it is that Minolta stopped making cameras, they just merged with Konica and they licensed their mount to Sony.

I think with the adapter the lens are completely manual -- including metering -- the meter works but you have to manually set both aperature and shutter speed. If you went this route I would get either the Konica or the sony and a new zoom lens in the 24-80mm range. This is a good "walking around" lens and would let you start to learn the new funtions on the camera. Buy the adapter and you can still use your primes when you are doing landscape work and can take the time to set everything manual.

It is always fun to help spend someone elses money!!!

My mom even suggested parking in a safe place & taking a cab! They plan on getting their early & parking at a church that will be opening their lot for paid parking. We'll do that too if there is any room left. But, I'm not sure we'll make it. We have to go watch Bruce's mom & her husband in a parade in Mississippi earlier that day. We'll be running on Sat.!

I probably missed something,

The last week has just been so crazy. Ashley's early morning band practice was cancelled today, so instead we got to go to the extra 5:30 a.m. swim practice (yuck)

I leave tomorrow for San Diego. I am having to outline everything for Charley. The only bad part is going to be on Friday morning. He has to be at work at 6 a.m. and the kids will have to get up on their own and get ready and off to school. Friday night, Ashley is spending the night with one of her swim friends so she can go to Saturday practice, then she is going home with her coach and her daughter so she can work with Ashley on some techniques before the swim meet next week. THen on Sunday, my MIL is coming over after church so she can stay with Ashley because Charley's schedule is 2-10 that day and Dale has youth symphony from 3 - 7 p.m. Too many things going on I guess. We just can't be normal.

Really starting to look forward to vacation. Only about 3 1/2 weeks away and I just can't wait.

We'll be there from 3/11-3/15 for our annual convention... can't wait. I've never been there... I know its not what it used to be, but I'm sure it will still be fun. We're staying at the Windsor Court... we've got dinner reservations for Brennan's for one night- I hope their Banana's Foster lives up to its reputation... but I'm prepared to be disappointed on that one, cause I've heard conflicting reports. Not sure where else we're eating yet (thats a major issue around here )... too many places, not enough time!!!!

My husband has been abducted by aliens and they have replaced him with some other life form. This life form walked into my house last night carrying two bouquets of flowers. Lavender roses for me (how did they know those were my favorite?) and a mixed bouquet for Jordan.
I don't know what they did with the human husband....but I'm not all that sure I want that one back!

On that note ... need to be sure to go hunting through the lost-n-found bins at both elementary school & day care. Emily can't find 1 of her gloves. She's going to need them over the next few days.

I see snowflakes! Lots of them, and they're still coming down. In fact, school is cancelled today. Alicia let out a woohoo! and went back to bed.

This means I can't get out today and get Kevin that lovely Valentine's Day present I planned. But we're getting a new DVD recorder today from Amazon, that counts right? Our old one (really old for an electronic item) has died. Sort of. It won't let us watch and record at the same time anymore, and it really messed up Heroes on Monday. (can anyone fill us in on the first half of the show?) Kevin and I watched Veronica Mars last night with commercials in case it didn't record. Felt like we were in the dark ages.

Here's what Dwight gave me for Valentine's Day: he left town on a business trip!!! (not funny really, but he'll make it up to me --- oh yes he will!!!)
