I'm glad you were able to go to your party! I didn't know Michael's did birthday parties, Wow! Maggie would love it!!!

On an aside note, I never got to go to school on my birthday it was just a few days after school let out for the summer. I always felt I missed out on something special.

me neither. Mine is 3 days after Christmas and we were always on Christmas break. Ah, well, I grew up normal in spite of it!

I'm starting to think you have WAY to much time on your hands if you can find videos like this. :lmao:

Actually, I was reading the Sunday paper, enjoying my latte, since the house was quiet....
And there was a story about a teenager in Columbus who has cancer. He has his own CaringBridge page and it had the link in the paper. He had a link to this video on his site.

THAT'S how I found it. :)

Today I do have time on my hands. Everyone is gone. But it's 10:40 and I just completed 60 minutes of interval training on the treadmill......so I'm not wasting ALL of my time. :)

So when will you know when you're hitting the Buckeye state? I'm planning a trip to NC to see my sister and I want to make sure it's not when you'll be here. :)

OK here it is - post #19,000!

Seems like it was just yesterday that I was writing about post #18,000. What has happened in the last 1000 posts. Nothing I would call extraordinary. Yet the entire experience is extraordinary. During that time I’ve been involved in two cruise meets threads. The blabbermouth thread, which started for the May 2006, Double Scoop cruise and the 2006 DVC Member Cruise thread. Both of these threads are filled with wonderful people. People I have come to know as friends. The very first cruise Mark and I took was in 1999 and before we found the DIS. The second cruise was in 2001 and while on the DIS I was mostly over on the DVC forums and it was before the cruise meets forum came up. Our third cruise actually had a DIS meet (organized by someone else). Sadly only 3 other people showed (the organizer and one other couple). Our 4th cruise was the 2003 Member Cruise where Mark decided to try and organize a DIS meet. That’s when he came up with the idea of buttons for everyone. They were plastic snap-on ones back then but they were a hit. It is on this cruise where we met some of our first true DIS friends. Our 5th cruise also had a cruise meets thread and a DIS meet but since we were sailing with my in-laws we weren’t as involved. Still we met a great group of DISers and had a great time.

When we came home from the May 2003 cruise (our 5th) something happened that really changed our posting habits. We booked the December 2004 10 day cruise and joined the cruise meets thread for that cruise. 24,000 posts later and we sailed with these wonderful people. We had definitely found another group of great friends. That was our 6th cruise and definitely a special one. It was also the cruise that we booked the May 2006 cruise on. With many of our friends from the 10 day. A cruise meets thread was already well underway. Who knew it would grow to be the biggest cruise meets thread ever!

Late 2004 came the announcement of a 2005 Member Cruise. We were in again and found that many of our friends from 2003 were also. We would also be sailing with a number of DISers we met at DVC Member Homecoming. As with all cruise meet threads we also met even more new people. We had a blast on this, our 7th DCL cruise. It was also on this cruise that we learned that Member Cruise 2006 would be held in October. I don’t think the announcement was even an hour old before the 2006 Member Cruise meets thread was up and running.

May 2006 brought us to the Double Scoop cruise – our 8th. It was so great to see so many friends from the 10-day and also to meet so many new DIS friends. We had a record 5 DIS meets. At JB’s on Friday, at the Radisson on Friday, at Grills Saturday morning, in the terminal Saturday morning, and of course the big one on Saturday afternoon. We were even blessed to have Ducky Williams attend that one.

Cruise #9 is right around the corner. The 2006 Member Cruise and promises to be filled with more fun with DIS friends. Not only are we having a DIS meet on Saturday afternoon, but we are having a party bus of DISers to head over to the port.

In between all these cruises I’ve had a wonderful time chatting with all my fellow cruisers. I’m doing a circle journal with a group of friends from the Member Cruise, we just came back from a wonderful weekend in Ohio with the wonderful ohiomouse family, and we have had the pleasure of meeting up with Cindy’s family a number of times since they live in the area.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It has been a great ride. We’ve shared lots of laughs, we’ve shared a few tears, and most of all we’ve shared our love of Disney! Thanks everyone!

I talked to a teacher friend, trying to get an inside track on summer vacation for 2008. The Texas state legislature mandated schools start on the 4th Monday in August beginning 2007-2008 school year. She believes we'll finish mid-June in 2008 :sad2:

Monica -- there still may be a chance. The legislature has not completely abolished the waiver yet. That this what the lobbyists are trying for, because they don't want any schools getting waivers to start earlier. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Morning All - Prayers for the crash victems in KY.

We are packed and ready to say goodbye to the Beach - We will catch the Mayport Ferry and head south.

no oaunch today - lightening - scarey.....

but there will be JB's..........

WOW, been gone all day since my morning post and only Irene has visited since then.

Well, we had a busy day. Went to church and then went to PF Changs for lunch. Came home and changed and then took Ashley and a friend to the mall so Ashley could spend some of her birthday money and gift cards.

We survived the sleepover on Friday night. There were 11 girls total. Two of them had to leave at 11 p.m. and the other nine stayed until 10 the next morning. That is definitely the last time I will do that.

Swim practice starts back up tomorrow and then we have our first football game of the season on Friday night. Ashley is not too happy about that, because that is the day of her actual birthday. Our friends from Dallas are driving in late Friday night or early Saturday morning, so we will get to see them. I can't wait, because I was so sick at Christmas when they were in town I didn't get to see them.

Well, gotta run for now. Take care and see ya'll later.

Last post from me before we leave for WDW...Have a great Labor Day everyone! See ya next week~!

Morning All - reat time at Ameila Island - Seminar was very worthwhile, my presentation was ok (not my best)....but the friends, relaxation and extra special sunset sail was perfect.

Our trip home was extra specal as well. We took the Mayport Ferry and A1A down to JB's where we met up with the Scuba's sans Matt (homework).

Then back to reality and HURRICANES????? No Way - yes it is true....

Cats were glad to see us - then the sink stopped up.....

I am supposed to be driving to the west Coast 3 times this week. Bet meetings are cancelled....

Having been out of town we have no food (and no "supplies") in the fridge....Today will be busy. Let us hope it is only a storm and does not re-strengthen....

Cats hate being locked up when we go away, the take it out on us by crying all night.....(yawn)...

The Mother is already upset as the relatives are cming into town next week.

Any extra patience would be appreciated. Send it down my way please.

Best start some laun dry in case we lose power....

Later....

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Monday!

Back to work for me. Small update on the picture DVD's. They have all been burned. Just need to get them finished with labels etc. and sent out. Hopefully this week. Thank you for your patience. Real lives and work got in the way a bit.

Wow... off the thread for 3 days, and only a few pages to catch up on... its that busy time of year!!

Stacey - Lots of prayers & PD headed your way for your Dad... :grouphug: .

This weekend marked the 'official' start of football season for us... our Jamboree in Port St. John on Saturday. The lightning storm (the same one that hit the shuttle a few miles away) had other plans. We got through about 3/4 of Ray's game, despite the deluge of rain...I'm really surprised that Elizabeth wasn't complaining about cheering in the pouring rain (her inner-drama queen stayed hidden)... the lightning started fast and furious after that, and the rest of the games were cancelled... however the boys all had to still weigh in at their appointed times... which for Christopher, was 6PM. (It was only 3 at this point.) Made for a long, soggy day. Found a mexican/cuban restaurant to hang out in... good cuban sandwiches, (bad happy-hour margaritas :guilty: ).

Not looking forward to the possibility/probability of Ernesto paying a visit. (That's my dad's name, by the way.) Ray is scheduled to fly to Salt Lake City for his new job on Wednesday... wonderful. This morning he says... "Don't worry, I'll make sure you know how to start the generator."... gee thanks.

I doubt it will turn into much, but, because our company distributes drinking water & ice during disasters (not to mention that our facility can be used as a large-scale morgue... but we won't even GO there!!!), it takes planning NOW... we can't wait until this thing commits itself to a path. Let's hope it finds someone else to bother...

All you Floridians - Stay Safe!!!

Maybe if we all blow really hard, we'll knock it off course and away from land ;)

EEEK :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

It has started. The lines for gas, the cops controlling the gas stations....I have not ventured to the grocery store....(Sam had that chore today as we have been away). Meetings out of town cancelled for the next 3 days...and still we do not know the path.

I'll let you know if I need batteries and you can all send them down.....

I just hope we do not lose power for days and weeks like before, it is hot.

At 10:00 pm - everyone go outside and blow this thing out the sea (that's east....) Thanks.

Pixie Dust and Prayers for all of your Floridians that this thing doesn't head your way!!

Hurricane preparations

Batteries - check
Batteries for Mother - check
Food - check
Gas for Car - check.
Gas for grill - check.
'puter - being charged.
Emergency preps for office - tomorrow.
Beer for the Hedgehog - check
Shutters - still undecided.
Mother - calm - check.

Now the storm can go away!!!!

This storm sure does look like it is going to hit south Florida, but not with a big punch. The main problem is with all the blue tarps. There is still a lot of unrepaired damage that will only get worst....water damage.

Matt and Lisa are thinking no school on Thursday. They can always find a good side to a hurricane.

That's great! I've been known to fall off treadmills - so, I can't even imagine trying to dance on one! :lmao:

STACEY-PRAYERS AND PD TO YOUR DAD.
