Rut Roe. What do I need to know here? We get to WDW on the 26th, I believe.

Ahh, I have investigated - National Cheerleading Championships (perhaps among other events)...We have been in WDW during that time. We actually enjoyed going out to the parking lot and seeing the kids practice each morning.....Did not notice problems with kids at the parks....Value resorts are more packed with kids than moderates, so our only adjustments was to make reservations early in the year and not wait until they posted Fla. rates, to make sure we had a spot at POP.

Sometimes there seemed to be more kids running up and down halls, and lots more pizza boxes sitting outside the doors, but they still beat crying babbies.......(so how is that for politically insensitive comment).

...............scuse me - Miss, I just returned from a cruise and posted such wonderful photographic memories...... :teeth:

That's right....and don't forget about the Walt! :rotfl:

What the heck - it is dark and there is a thumping noise going one - a small bird throwing himself at the window - from the outside? I'll wander out when it is light and see if someone's pet escaped?????? Looks like a finch of some sort and they do not eat months, which swarm around the light of the window????? Hum??????

Hey Jim - a package arrived from Hawaii yesterday - guess what is in it?
And drat! Sam signed for it.....so much for a surprise.....I'm making him wait, not opened yet.....

This time ....................................

South Africa

One of my favourite restaurants is Boma and I have looked forward to this food booth so much I would not let Sam share the Durban Chicken. Didn't I mention that we often share - how else do you think we can eat so much.... :rotfl:

Bobotie with Mango Chutney

Durban Chicken with Mealie Pap - Does not hold a candle to the Spicey Sugar Cane chicken of past years. Disappointed I was....and not Tuskars or S. African beer...

Melktert

Beyond Sauvignon Blanc

Kanu Chenin Blanc

Indaba Merlot

Indaba Shiraz

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Thursday!

Thanks for the info. I think we'll be ok. I doubt many will be staying at VWL.

As for crying babies vs. scantily clad, loud, obnoxious tweens.......bring on the babies. At least I don't think evil thoughts about how the parents aren't teaching them any sort of manners!!!

Not just cheerleading... its the Pop Warner Football Super Bowl... kids from all over the country who have won their state and regional divisions get to compete for the National Championship at Wide World of Sports. They do close MGM early one night for a private event It is a HUGE deal for everyone involved... but the good news is... it starts later than I thought... its starting on the 5th... I thought it started on the 2nd.

It ends up being LOTS of energetic, EXCITED kids, age 10-15, many without their parents, staying at the Value resorts... yes, a recipe for noise, chaos and who-knows-what... but I still think they're better than the South American herds, I mean tour groups, that appear every spring and summer. And a Pop Warner kid has NEVER run over my heels with a stroller. (so there's MY politically incorrect comment for the day...)

Doesn't help me much. We're there from 11/26-12/10! :)

Imagine the fun we had in Las Vegas, presumably an ADULT getaway, when we shared our floor (and every living breathing space in town) with a national cheerleading convention.........I say bring on the babies ANY day!! Just don't expect me to step aside for YOUR stroller. How's that for P.C.???

And...by the by........ONE trip in the Walt does NOT equal up to the ability to go to WDW any weekend of the year that you just happen to decide it would be fun to "pop over"....you lucky Florida-livers!!!

Laura, I hadn't heard that, how exciting! I am assuming that we old-timers will still be able to book there at 7 months. We like AKL. In fact, we can check out the construction site when we stay there in December. I can't believe I'm going again so soon, but gotta take the family once in a while, you know?

Back with the land of the living, I think. The five day antibiotic is a killer the first day, but seems to kick the bug out. I was able to go to Alicia's school play last night, and only had to leave once for a coughing fit. That's progress!

Did I mention that there were something like 66 babies on our cruise? And under 300 kids total. Just a few bigger kids (8-10) caused a LOT more commotion than the babies. We even had Bingo babies, courtesy of Ian. They were adorable. And it did seem like a lot less stroller traffic this time.

Irene, thanks for posting the menus and reviews. Enjoying it vicariously. Seems like there are a lot more wine offerings at each booth than in 2004. I remember maybe two offerings per booth then. Maybe next year there will be even more. Hope we can go! My family is telling me that they want to go too. Alicia gets a little Fall break, so I might have to let them.

Our annual holiday party is on 12/9... c'mon over!!!! Actually, anyone who's in the area that night is more than welcome to join us. Scuba & Sharon came over last year... and he threatened to spoil my Christmas Cruise SURPRISE for my kids... so I had to have him removed...

Unfortunately, there will be no such surprise this year, so we're safe.

Always popular - get to this line early as it fills up. But they are well organized. Now you pay and get tickets and present the tickets and get your food and drink. I had intended to try the Shrimp but did not make it this year. Sam tried the beef and it was very good. They also serve port (JIM _ Lookie).......They also offer a wine walkabout which is fun. We passed this year as in the past Australia has poured at the Party of the Senses...Mmmmm, I'm hungry again....

Australia

Shrimp on the Barbie
Beef Skewer with Green Bean Salad
Grilled Lamb Chop with Caramelized Onion
Macadamia Nut Tartlet
Rosemount Traminer Riesling
Wolf Blass Yellow Label Cabernet Sauvignon
Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz-Cabernet
Benjamin Tawny Port
Foster's Lager (with commemorative stein)

Now let me think.....

ohhh gooodie - a U-TOP with babbies.....(serves me right).

Well that clip art was protected, cute picture too....I'll try again. See above.

Is that offer good for old "table mates"? We may be in the area early December for a little time away.
