We got great news today. Dale made the El Paso Youth Orchestra. We had been waiting since the auditions to hear something and we found out early this morning. He is thrilled. About 5 of his friends made it. They will have practices every Sunday afternoon and then 4 concerts during the year. One of the concerts will be played with the Full El Paso Symphony, so this is great experience for him.

Congrats to Dale ------Great news indeeed!!!!

Dad saw the oncologist today. The doctor said he "highly doubts" that the cancer has spread to his lungs. He thinks it may be a virus....the type that is found in the dirt and dust in some areas of the country. The type that we have here we call "Valley Fever" and almost everyone who has ever lived here has it in some form or another.
So the first thing the doctor did was to take blood to see if Dad has the virus. If that isn't it, then they will do a biopsy. But Dad and Mom were both encouraged by this news.
Thank you, everyone, for your prayers!

Gosh, I think the concept of having "Valley Fever" does not sound like something we would normally say "oh goodie", but let us hope that is what it is and your Dad will be able to forego the biopsy and your Dad and Mom can return to some peace in their life.

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Wednesday!

Congrats to Dale - great news!

Good luck to KT and Nick!

Stacey - continued prayers for your Dad!

They had some really talented kids there. KT did well....but her size may get her in the end.....the character is a 12 yr old (which means she'd need to be a good bit bigger than the person playing the 4 yr old) Not sure that'll work.

Nick was more tentative tonight and had a huge paragraph of lines to read. His slow reading stumped him up a bit, but he at least was expressive near the ends of his lines. Hopefully the director saw that and can see the potential....plus his resume shows he has had decent roles.

The last time this theater had callbacks they said they'd call that night if the kids got in. This time the director wants until Thursday at 6pm. ARGH!!!

Thanks for the wellwishes everyone!!!

Fingers crossed for KT and Nick. Good luck! pixiedust: pixiedust:

Congrats to DALE!!!! :cool1: :thumbsup2

I'll keep my fingers crossed for KT & Nick!!! ;) :thumbsup2 :wizard:

Stacey - Glad to hear your Dad's news is not as bad as they thought. P & PD for his quick recovery.

OK, now that I'm caught up....Good morning everyone. It's been a little chilly up here in the North. Getting down to the 50's at night. Started wearing long sleeves and pants. Yuck!!! It's like someone just flipped a switch and Fall is here. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE FALL (Autumn). That's my favorite time of year, but I didn't get a chance to change-over my clothes yet!! Poor kids are freezing in the mornings waiting at the bus stops. Hooded jackets are not cutting it, especially for my 2 skinny minnies.

Have we figured out when the 2008 dates will be released?

Gotta go and get moving now. Have a great "HUMP" day everyone.

Thanks everyone for the congrats for Dale. We will be keeping our fingers crossed for KT and Nick.

Stacey -- hope everything works out for your Dad. My mom's bichon frise got valley fever when they were living in Arizona. Of course I understand that is far worse on animals than it is in humans, so that is a good thing for your dad.

Maria -- so nice to see you again. Don't stay gone for so long.

OM,

Tell Mike - another excellent article!

I do have to admit in 2001 we were living in Canada, so 9/11's impact in our livies was less than most Americans. Life resumed as normal in Canada quickly. As a result, the theoretical distance and the ages of the kids at that time (we filtered the coverage) led to a muted impact in our lives.

His article brings to mind World War II and the remaining the holocaust survivors and veterans are aging. We're loosing a vital link to another piece of history we must never forget and should not become another small paragraph in history books.

sigh - I love September and October in the north - this is the only time I miss living up north...Someone please post fall color pictures in October!!!!

It's tough trying to figure out what to wear - 95 degrees still screams summer - but, fashion dictates fall colors, clothes, etc...even down here there's a lot of traditionally fall clothes in the stores...ugh! Who wants to wear jackets, long sleeves and pants in 95 degrees?????

Monica, I'm with you. Not giving up my cropped pants for a while!

Congratulations to Dale! And good luck to Nick and KT. Is Nick reading for the four year old, or is there something in between? I hope they both get cast!

Stacey, that's encouraging news about your Dad. Bet he's glad he finally got to the doctor.

OK, count me in as someone who did not enjoy Blue Man Group. Alicia really wanted to see them, so we went when we were in Vegas for a dance event a couple of summers ago. Something about putting on rain ponchos during a concert just didn't appeal. Might have been the hot and sweaty thing. It was OK, but I do think it helps to already be a fan of their music.

Almost ready to go. That's a good thing, isn't it?

Shorts and a t-shirt.

Just wear dark colored t-shirts and you are all set. Fall colors dictated a grey t-shirt for me today. :lmao:

I will try my best to post some October pictures for ya. I lived in FL for a year or so and that's what I missed most of all. Had to come back and thank God I did, that's when I met Augie. I'll do what I can.

Hey look at that - a UTOP!!! Haven't had one of those in a long time. I'll be glad to share it with MickeyMO...

Thanks for the well-wishes for Dad. I know they both feel a little better now.

I've had three dogs get Valley Fever, and Megan had it. It is definitely worse for the dogs than for people. In fact, Ash is still taking meds for it now.

Got up this morning and hit the ground running. That last minute need to get a million things done before going out of town.
Got my permanent "teeth" put in yesterday, so last night was totally shot. Took a pill and went to bed.
Tomorrow I have to force myself to go back to the dentist so that he can adjust my bite, now that I'm not all numb. Soooo glad to be done with that!!

Have therapy in a bit, so I'd best go.
