Thanks, OM, never saw that. Did they show it on the air? I may have missed an audition show here or there. I don't like it when she belts it. She can be a recording artist without belting, right?

Yeah, I do remember it b/c I remember her talking about her mom being the vocal teacher and Simon (I think) said something about her mom being "proud" and "living vicariously" through her. :)

Is that what you pay for private school? Wow. The schools around here are all in the $13K range. But yeah, totally agree. She's not exactly a truancy case.

:earseek: :earseek: DOUBLE WOWIE!!

Cruise question ...

I booked the 2-day package at Castaway Cay that includes bike rentals. Does anyone know if the children's bikes have training wheels? I assume that they have various sizes of bikes for kids.

Ang

Doing the Virgil thing, so I don't know if anyone has answered, but I'm almost 100% positive that they do. Gee...that helps, huh? Almost.

I keep an envelope with at least $20 in ones (and there's usually some left over) somewhere handy, so that we can tip room service in cash. I just hate coming home to a huge credit card bill....and this way (although you don't have to worry about this yet) if the kids order room service, they can tip them also.

And I think the black sandals would be just fine for your khaki dress, too. Most importantly... be comfortable!

Thanks Stacey.

I guess I'll just accessorize my khaki dress with black jewelry. I have a LONG strand of onyx beads ... sort of like a pearl necklace but onyx. That will help tie in the black. Yep, think I've got myself convinvce. One pair of shoes knocked off the list ... now I'll need to see what to do about knocking some others off the list.

Many places in Mexico - including local tours - require cash...this is new for us, we never carry cash anymore...

Memo to self....remember to go to the bank!

Yep...that's part of the reason.....

Plus, I put cash in the tip envelopes for our servers, etc. Again, it's that thing about not coming home to a massive credit card bill.

U- T.O.P. !!

Wish our teachers were as easygoing...;)

Frances turned in the form to the teacher's today about Lauren's absence... Boy, was Frances pissed.... Very condescending comments from them.... Good thing I didn't turn it in - as well - I wouldn't have kept my mouth shut. Doubt that would have helped our case.... but... considering Lauren is a straight A student, the youngest in her class because she skipped a grade....scores the highest on the standardized test, etc... I really don't care.... If they don't want my $4.5k next year.... oh well....

Rant off.....

Virgil
WE are done with school here on 24 May. All books collected and tests done now a week of parties so they have 180 days. Thank heaven. Teachers here are pretty good used to dealing with military families. We get our usual threatening letters after 7 days of absence even if excused. I drew the line when they wanted to see medical records so principal could ask his pal at MUSC if she needed to have surgery. PRIVACY none of schools business if DR writes excuse especially when does not affect any other student but DD. Why do they always pick on the straight A students and turn them against school. :confused3 We cruise , we do disney, school or no school. As long as grades are okay. More to real life than they learn now in school anyway. But then SC is one of lowest in nation.

I wound up doing a search on the main board. They do have ones with training wheels. I only did 1 adult & 1 child rental. The adult bikes have child seats. So Emily can ride a child's bike with training wheels, I can ride with Ashley on the back (maybe) & Bruce can run along side.

Yes, the offer still stands. If you get something else, let me know so that we can either cancel the 2 extra seats or offer them to some other DIS'er that failed to get ressies. I'd sort of like a different time but still on formal night. Bruce doesn't want to feel out of place in the dining room if he's not wearing a tux ... sort of wish I could change his mind.

Ang
Angie, if it helps, one of your tablemates will be in a suit instead of a tux. on formal night :thumbsup2 . We decided not to buy or rent a tux this cruise for dh.

Yup. I think MY kids learned MUCH more on our vacation to D.C. than ANY student who went with their entire 8th grade class and used the week as a social gathering. It was really sad to see this big group of students on a tour all talking with one another while a tour guide was telling them about this or that.

Stacey, you always need an extra couple of hundred for the stuff you forget!

Kevin is thinking about not taking his tux this time, but taking his nice black suit instead. He usually takes both, we're trying to cut down on total weight. The scuba gear and camera weight goes up, so some clothing needs to go down. We won't have much luck convincing the teen of that though. When I told her there is only ONE formal night, and ONE semi-formal night on this cruise, she looked at me like I was crazy.

Stacey, how did you know that "Leeshie" is her nickname?

I just hope Jay & Jared aren't the only ones at the table in tuxes!

But you made me think of something I hadn't thought of....does jay absolutely HAVE to bring a jacket for dinner at Palo???? Can't he just wear a shirt and tie? Arrggghhh...I don't want to haul both, either.

Alicia and I talked about Leeshie in WDW. I asked her if I could call her "Lecie" (no "sh" sound) because I didn't like the "leash" connotation.

I got Alicia and Bernie to pose with their haul. They've been asked to perform at another show a few days after we get back. Too bad we can't take Bernie on the cruise for the talent show! But I do have a DVD!

Yea! DVD party!! Do they get to keep the trophies, or does the studio? Who has to make the costumes?

VERY CUTE!!

And another guy, just a couple of tables over, will just be in a suit. No tux here. We'll be the plain couple sitting with the beautifully dressed couple. :)

Hmmm ... maybe we can gang up on him & convince him ... that is if our Palo ressies change times.

Ray will definitely wear his tux if we aren't at Palo that night... might even wear it if we are... that's up to him... I'm wearing the same thing either way... cause I'm on a packing-consolidation mission right now.

But what about those Mystic/Rainbow stone things? Or are they cheap enough to be covered?

Very easily covered. They are (were) very inexpensive. But I'm afraid that the word is getting out that they are inexpensive, but yet a very good stone.....prices will soon be rising.

Okay...I'll admit it.....I will at least be carrying my credit card when we go shopping...just in case....I'd hate to have to borrow someone else's credit card like I did in St Maarten.....:guilty:

Well, I think Jim styles the tux. He doesn't have to haul it cross country. If you want to change table mates that night, we will understand. ;) The jacket for Palo was the deciding factor, the suit is multi-purpose. Of course, your guys WILL be looking good, doesn't that count?

I've told her that I wanted to name her Lacey, but Dad wouldn't hear of it. But we usually call her Alicia, Leeshie is an endearment.
