5/22/2008 Wonder Cruise!

Hey, TigerzFan, thanks for the tip re Discovery Launch, you just made my husband very lucky, we try to get viewing tickets at the space center, selling beginns this coming Monday.

To you as experienced Cruise mom, I am wondering if my 4 year old girl will be happy at the kids club, she does not speak english at all, but she is a very outgoing and brave girl, therefore I think it could work, what do you and the other moms think?

MMmmmmmm, swiss chocolate. I can taste it already!!

Wow, it sounds like you're in for a FABULOUS one month visit here to Florida. I've never been to Captiva but I hear it's gorgeous.

As for your little girl, I have no doubt she'll love the kids' clubs. On our last cruise, our older daughter was 4 and she would ask to go frequently. On her registration, I would definitely make note of the language issue. It could very well be that there is a CM (cast member) who speaks the language ... maybe even worth requesting for dining, too. You never know, those Disney folks have pulled many tricks out of their ears! Besides that, I'm sure she'll learn some of the basic words that will be useful.
It would be an interesting question to post to the main board. I'm sure there are many other moms who have been in that situation.

Hmmmm, I think you'll have to teach us all a few basic words and phrases! We have 7,6, 5 and 2 year olds in our group and we can teach them.

Just booked again! I have booked and canceled this cruise three times now! My DH can't get off work and both of my 20 something DDs that were supposed to go with me have had something come up. I have decided to take my DSs, who are 5 and 6 on this one by myself. DH isn't thrilled, but I need a vacation and he will get over it. ;)

Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Hi Kristi!

Welcome (back) aboard!:boat:
Our family just recently booked as well for our first 3-night cruise. Looking forward to meeting you and your boys. Less than 7 weeks to go.....

We'll probably wear pirate stuff on pirate night, but not a full costume. It's always a good time. Too bad we'll be so full from dinner. It's a nice spread but we're always to full to eat it!

Swiss girl, I'm sure your daughter will have fun in the clubs with the dress up trunk, sliding board, characters, etc. She might be lost during the Disney movies or have to take an extra minute or two to catch on the games they are playing, but I know she will love it.

Can't wait! This is cruise #5 for us but our first 3 nighter so we're trying to figure out how to cram all the fun in really really fast!

This is our first 3 nighter also. I am also trying to figure out how to cram all the fun into 3 short nights!

But I know it will be fun no matter how many nights and I can't wait. Counting down the days! :woohoo:

So since this is our first cruise period....what are some can't miss things to do while on board?

I think we're going snorkeling at CC and just going to explore Nassau some on our own. But curious about things we HAVE to do on board the Wonder!

Cheers,
Josh

Josh, here are some of my favorites!

1. Sail away party is a great starter
2. Make sure you try the cold mango soup or cold strawberry soup at embarkation lunch. YUH-HUM!
3. The shows are awesome! Don't miss them.
4. *If it were my first cruise, on a 3 nighter I would not miss a regular rotation dinner, so if you choose not to do Palo, at least go up there, sit at the bar and have a chocolate souffle. If you the tip the bartender, they won't charge you a cover for dessert. Palo is GREAT!!!! If you go, have them roll you out when you're done eating.
5. Nassua day is going to be a busy one! It's Pirate night and also the Golden Mickey show. Make sure you do both, it's A LOT of fun. And save room for the pirate snacks on deck.
6. When in Nassau, Cable Beach is a great alternative to Atlantis. It's 15.00 pp and you can use the hotel's ammenities. They have a swim up bar, water slide, casino, great beach with lounger and tiki umbrellas, and water sports are available.
7. Not so Newlywed Game (adults only!)
8. The adult comedians are great.
9. Castaway Cay is worth the entire price of the cruise, IMHO. Snorkeling is a must for us! Best beach ever! Get out there early and grab a hammock.
10. For the kids: making FLUBBER in the kids clubs
11. SShh, don't tell anyone... but if you take a late night swim, it's empty up there on deck and so amazing under the stars!

Josh, I just read some of your trip report from your last trip to WDW, and now realize that it's your honeymoon. CONGRATS!!!!!
What an awesome place to honeymoon.
My daugher is 14 and is already planning to actually get married on Disney cruise ship. In fact, she already informed us that the guy has to be like you.... a true lover of Disney Magic, no matter how young or old or how many trips under your belt. Keep that magic in your heart and you'll have a long happy marriage.
Good luck and most of alll, HAVE FUN!

JOSH, DON'T FORGET ONE IMPORTANT MUST DO!
Eat a cheeseburger by the pool. They are the best!

Kristi, you sound like an awesome mom !!!

Josh and other first time cruisers....

Here's another moment you'll not want to miss...

When you first board, the CM will ask for your last name and then they "announce" your family's arrival onboard. It's a favorite moment of mine, I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it as I type this. It's when you really know the "Magic" and "Wonder" of it has officially begun.

Also, for everyone, don't forget you can have all (or at least most) of the characters autograph a photo mat (for framing), or a t-shirt, or a pillowcase, etc. just by dropping it off at Guest Services. Put the item in a ziploc bag, with your stateroom number - you can supply your own color fabric markers, too - at the beginning of the cruise and they'll send it up to your room by the last night. Makes a really nice (FREE) souvenier.:)

Josh, congrats from here too, honeymoon is just the most romantic thing I remember, besides the moment when I said, yes, I will...

To Kaykels and all the wonderful experienced DISerrs, thanks for sharing all the tips and hidden treasures with us, what would we do without you.

Looking forward to see you all and I told my husband that we will have to bring a add suitcase, just for the chocolate to all of you. He is a chocolate addict himself and he was not sure, if the goodies will be safe during our 3 weeks trip through florida, the might just disapear :scared1: .

You make my day, everytime I log in and see, that I am not the only one going crazy just by thinking how awesome it will be to experrience the wonders of magic.

Have a great week :yay:

Just wanted to mention that the latest posting on NASA's website shows The Discovery launch date moved to May 31st, but someone else mentioned it might be going back to the original date. :confused3

Hey TigerzFan

My Husband logged at sharp 9:00am into the Cape Canaveral Tickets Portal but could not finish his order for tkts and flew out of the system within a minute, when he tried to enter again, the tickets were sold out. Bad luck, but we received information from were the take-off could be seen to.

Thanks anyway and icecold regards, today we had snow again.

Wow, still snowing huh? We thought we had it bad. It was 44 today. We had spring fever for a few days and now it's cold again. Oh Florida sunshine, take me away !!!

I suppose y'all don't want to hear that it's 80 and lovely here today?:yay:
If it makes you feel better, we had tons of thunderstorms yesterday causing our pool to dip down to 85! Brrrrrr....:scared:

(ducking now.....)
