Day 7: Friday, May 18, Another Day at Sea:
Today I actually got up at 7:30 in time to see the sunrise. Even I was impressed with that feat of strength. Of course it was the only night we did not have set our clocks forward an hour. Tonight we do though, BOO!
As I walked up along the 10th deck, all by myself, I noticed the sun had already risen slightly and was completely covered by some pretty clouds. I went to the bow of the ship, I was going to take some pictures and video, and was literally blown back by the wind. I could not even hold my video or camera since the wind was so strong up there. I dont think I had ever felt such a strong wind force. So I figured if I couldnt even hold the camera, then my efforts were fruitless. L So what did I do? Why, went back to bed, of course! Remember the sleeping options? Well, here is a recap:
A. Sleep in until 10:30 or 11:00 or
B. Wake up early at about 8 or 9 and then take a nap at about 12:00 - 3:00 missing most of the afternoon.
Usually we chose option A, since we did not seem to miss as much doing that. We usually always had something that began at 11:00 am, so it was a good get-me-upper. We dropped DS off at the kids clubs (as to his request, of course), where they were doing a sing along and then having lunch.
Today Ducky Williams was doing another Behind the Scenes series (same one as before) where he would be raffling off more sketches. We did not win AGAIN
.DRATS!
DH said that my Disney luck was not existing on this trip. I said it always exists, it just takes a hiatus here and there. I just did not have any disney luck with the raffles
.I wonder how it would work with Bingo??? Probably not so good.
We had decided to eat at Lumieres for lunch today. We were wondering why it was pretty dead in there, but the burgers were oh so good!!! Afterwards, we went and caught the last of the Mouse 2O party up on deck. There were where all the people were!
Basically, they played music and some games while the pools were open (it was still pretty windy for us) and they had stations around the Goofy pool that had tattoos, bracelet painting (in the 2 gazebos), and a huge BBQ. It looked really good, but we had already eaten! I still felt like some ice cream though (I love that ice cream and have it often, I just dont mention it LOL)
***Disclaimer: Long, boring and meaningless observation this next paragraph (unless you love the soft serve ice cream on the ship):
A note about the ice cream: Sometimes it is good, and sometimes it is not so good. I do not know if it is the mix they use, or the water ratio they use, but sometimes I hit it right and love it and it tastes like good soft serve ice cream, and other times, it takes like watered down frozen yogurt,

and I hate it
.There were a few days when it was good and I thought it would stay that way, and then today it went back to the kind I hate again. For other Scoops ice cream connoisseurs like me, keep an eye out for the paler chocolate ice cream. I have noticed when it is darker, it is the kind I dont like. If it is paler, its the good kind. People may disagree with which kind is better, but that is what I find.
We went back to the room and was able to find my DD online before she headed to school. I posted pictures and made some changes to previous reports while I was able to talk with her. Now that our times are forward so much, it is difficult to catch them while they are home.
Desperate Shipmates was going to start at 5:15pm and since our dinner was at 6:00, we had to get ready for Pirate night early. So we did, and had a great time at Studio Sea, where I always see a lot of other disers. Some of the questions and theories to who stole the painting of the Captain, where sooo funny!
Ok, here comes another glitch we have noticed. I am trying not to be negative...just stating what I have noticed.
With dinners
.we think that the reason things have been running so slow is because they serve all 3 restaraunts at once
not good. I can definitely see why they stagger it, not only for people and pictures in the atrium, but for the kitchen/galley as well. I do not know why all of a sudden for this trip they are doing things different and not staggering out the dining times, and NOT doing matinees. Those are my biggest and only complaints on this cruise. Believe me, the ship is full enough to warrant it, its not THAT empty. Just go to the 8:30 show and anyone could see that LOL.
Since the kids were in the lab again, DS refuses to leave when they are there, and since he already was, we were out of luck. So DH and I had to enjoy Pirate night dinner alone again. He has only stayed with us through dinner only 2 times.
Because the Pirate dinner was running a little slow, AND we had to go in order to catch Mickey and Minnie together in their pirate costumes, and then the movie was being shown earlier at 8:00 instead of 8:30, we had to get our desserts to go, and even that took forever. I had to send DH to go save a spot in line, while I waited around a bit for the desserts (why I did that I have no idea, they were having such a buffet of desserts later up on deck for the Pirate party
duh)
We got a great picture of our DS with Mickey and Minnie, and then it was almost time for the movie. As I was heading back to pick up our desserts from dinner, I stumbled upon the group DIS pirate picture in the lobby. I arrived just in time to jump in it, and then get out of there. I remembered it was being held, just did not remember until I saw all the commotion and pirates in the atrium. LOL
I re-joined the family in the theater and we watched the movie. We really liked it!
After, I went up and grabbed a spot for the Pirate party only about 5 minutes before it started, and no one was around. It must have been the wind, because it was pretty gusty up on deck 10, but that is where I wanted to be, so I braved it out and stayed. DH and DS came up right when the characters came out, so it was good timing. I sheltered them from the wind so they had a nice time! LOL
We of course had some desserts from the buffet, we each took turns while the other was in the room with DS.
We were so stuffed and gluttoned out from the previous nights huge buffet. Since the other (Tropic
.party) had been rescheduled, we had 2 huge ones in a row
..wow that was a lot of food in 2 nights
.but it was a lot of fun, and by the time the party was in full swing, and nearing the end, the 9th deck was packed. I guess a lot came later--probably most of them being the later diners.
I love watching the disers and their families dance and have a great time at the parties. At the end, I had finally located Eric in his pirate costume, and some other disers that had worked so hard on making their pirate costumes, Too cute. Everyone was having a great time despite the windy windy weather!!
All in all, another great day at sea! We only have one more sea day, and then our ports begin!
