Day 6: ANOTHER day at Sea: Thursday, May 17, 2007
Another hour forward last night, my DS and I could not get up this morning….DH went to the Disney’s Art of Entertaining series where they made Apple Streudel with vanilla sauce. It was then time for the next Desperate Shipmates installment, so he went to that by himself too L --sorry honey, I was SO tired, I could NOT get up. I am kicking myself for it now. I missed out on some valuable clues….He found out some valuable clues, but I missed out on a good time so I hear L.
By the time DS and I got up, it was about time for lunch. But DS wanted to go and have lunch in the kids clubs (of course) so we decided to drop him off at the Oceaneer club and see if the weather was any better than yesterday. We had heard that it would be. And although it was not as cold, it sure seemed just as windy to me as the days before….The Mickey pool was not really crowded at all, and the sun was shining, but it sure was windy. I remember walking by the pool a day or two before, when it was worse weather and really rocking the ship, and watching one kid in the pool (or wave pool I should call it--all sloshing about) and seeing the lifeguard all huddled up against the wall with hood and jacket on. LOL
We grabbed a burger and chicken sandwich from Pluto’s and then left to get out of the wind.
I ran into a few new Disers I had not met yet (always fun to put faces with names) and then caught the last half of the Destination Lecture series on the Iberian penninsula (basically the country of Spain). It was very interesting, even though we were still pretty tired.
After that it was time to go to the Animation with Ducky Williams in Animator’s Palate. We did have a Galley tour booked, but canceled it since we had done it before and could rebook for next Thursday. So went by the guest services desk and rebooked it and then headed over the Animator’s Palate. Instead of being close to Ducky, we went next to a monitor so we could see. It was a lot of fun to draw along with him and draw Mickey. I started laughing so hard when I saw DH’s Mickey. He was laughing at me laughing at his Mickey. It really was a crack up, it looked like a deformed distant cousin of Mickey. But bless his heart, he sure tried. He is definitely good with computers and numbers, but he is NOT an artist. LOL
Ducky raffled off 16 more drawings, and DRATS!!!!---- I did not win one again. There was a ticket that was 2 numbers off from ours….pretty disappointing. But not a big deal, we still had a great time!
They were letting anyone go into the Tea with Alice and the Mad Hatter, so we took DS in, but he was not interested for long. He just wanted the chocolate chip cookies, and then we got out of there. We went back up to the room and started getting ready for dinner in an hour.
Dinner was a new menu called the Transatlantic. DH loved the Alaskan king crab legs with lemon and drawn butter. I had the cheese souffle (I think that is what it’s called). But the main dish of the Pork tenderloins with a dijonnaise sauce was really really good! The desserts were really good too, but we knew there was going to be a huge buffet up on deck later, so we tried not to eat too much dessert. We noticed a lot of other people were doing the same and just skipping out on dessert.
Right after dinner, I went and waited by the door of the theater for the show “Art of the Story”, while DH went and picked up our son from the kids clubs. We knew he would want to see this show.
WOW! I loved this show!!! I almost loved it as much as Golden Mickey’s….which is saying a lot. They basically showed film clips from certain movies, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan J, Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King etc, and then performed a song, or scene from it too. Really cute.
While DH took DS back to the room, I went to stake out a spot for the Tropicalifragilisticexpialidocious deck party (which I am used to doing with the Pirate deck party---you don‘t show up at least a half hour before, you do not get a good spot on deck 10), except there was no one around. It was really windy and even felt a little rain. I thought it might be canceled….but it wasn’t. It was so windy up on deck 10, that we went back down to deck 9. People starting showing up a little later and by the time the characters appeared at about 10:15 or so, it got to be a little crowded. I watched them set up the buffet, and it sure looked good. I stuck around while DH took DS back to the room, he is not much of a dancer anyways, he just liked to watch, and play with a telescope toy that dad had bought for him earlier. I lined up for the buffet at about 5 minutes till it opened at 10:30, and then went back to the room so that DH could go and get something too. For him the line was quite long though….
And so here we are, getting ready for bed, 6 hours later than what we are used to. For most people on the ship, many are a lot like us and having a hard time with the time change. They are wide awake until 2 am, and then either:
A. Sleep in until 11:00 the next morning or
B. Wake up at a normal time like 8:30 or 9:00am and then go back to bed at about 10 or 11 and sleep until 3:00. We did that one morning, and once you zonk out, you are GONE for a few hours. So we try not to do that anymore….I am really going to try and wake up for a sunrise one of these days. I would like to eventually check out the workout room too….But there are important activities tomorrow including another Ducky Williams seminar, so maybe I can win a sketch this time? Yeah right L
At least tonight, we do not have to set our clocks forward an hour! YAY! Check in with everyone later!
Here are some pics of the store windows, and some of the special merchandise they have available for the MED sailings: I thought they were really pretty:
