I am planning a quick trip down to Anaheim from Santa Barbara from the 5-7 of July. Am I insane to want to try to go on the 4th? Are the fireworks worth it?

If you are doing DL on the 4th get there early. We have done it 4 times and not sure why we kept going back. IMO the fireworks aren't much better than RDCT itself...which is amazing! :) However people will wait for hours, saw people getting spots 3 hours ahead of time, and mainstreet becomes so crowded you cannot move. It is crazy in the evening as the locals start to show up as well. If it is a big deal to you and crowds dont bother you then you should do it once :)

We did it last year and had to stake out our fireworks spot on Main Street about 3 hours prior to showtime. Just be aware of your surroundings. A fight started to break out behind us, as it was crowded, folks were tired of sitting and another family started pushing their way into the area folks had been sitting in for hours. I was thoroughly impressed by the way Disney security handled it. They basically formed a human wall between us and the conflicting parties. We (the family behind us and us) did have to yell that there were small children around when the argument got heated - but Disney security swooped in before we could finish our sentences.

If you don't have to watch on Main Street, I wouldn't do it again. Watch from one of the recommended places like the 2nd level of Innoventions....

Can you imagine the parking nightmare. I did SeaWorld on a 4th and it took about 4 hours for a normally almost 2 hour drive. I was stuck for an hour getting out then diverted through a tour of North San Diego.

I have seen enough DLR parking nightmares to avoid the parks on the biggest holidays or stay until way after closing.

For Independence Day this year, Disneyland Park will be presenting our special fireworks show Disney's Celebrate America: A 4th of July Concert in the Sky. It's a once-a-year show that is presented at both Disneyland Park and the Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

It should be interesting to see, as, weather permitting, this year will be the first time the show will be presented at Disneyland Park in it's entirety. It was cancelled midway last year due to high winds.

I appreciate all of the replies so far! Are there any other good fireworks shows in the LA area on the 4th? I'll be moving into my new place in Santa Barbara on the 3rd so I'll be extremely new to the area (coming from Indianapolis). It isn't a big deal that I go to LA for the 4th but I'd like to start super early on the 5th if I can :yay:

The absolute BEST place to see fireworks in the LA area IMO are at the beach. You can see at least 5-6 displays from different cities. I would COMPLETELY AVOID DLR on the 4th of July unless you love wall to wall people :lmao: I miss that I miss SOCAL!!!
