4th of July Waitlist?

I currently have a reservation for a 1 bedroom at OKW for July 5-8, but may need to change it to a 2 bedroom as more family members go. When I called today, only availabilty was at SSR. Since I realize the 4th of July is a busy time, are the odds against me to waitlist for OKW for a two bedroom then?

Doesn't hurt to try - your best chance will come at the 31 day mark. That's when those who do not have firm plans have to cancel to avoid the holding account.

I'm on the waitlist, too, over the 4th, for a studio. I decided to go just a couple of months ago, so I knew things would be difficult, but I never expected that even SSR would be full! I know that alot of people will give up their reservations at the 31-day mark(at least, I hope so!) so I am trying to be patient!

We just called yesterday and got a one bedroom for July 2nd thru 5th at SSR! First time we called!

I think I am going to try to waitlist for OKW for a 2 bedroom for the 5th-8th. If we can't stay there, we will try for SSR. We leave the 8th for a week using our World Passport points, so I am kinda locked into dates. (plus the difference of flying on the 4th of July versus the 5th was about $400 dollars-unbeliable!!

i called today to upgrade from a studio 7/2-7/7 to a one bedroom. nothing available. since i have another studio reserved for family members, the CM explained a 2 bedroom lock-off would be better point wise. Unfortunately nothing is available there either. i waitlisted for the two bedroom. i didn't for the one bedroom b/c I would have had to borrow points and didn't want to lose them if the 2 bedroom came up.

I am thinking of calling back every few days. Is that better or just wait for the waitlist?

Hi all!! Sounds like we'll all (hopefully) be neighbors. We're wait listed for 7/2-7/7 for a 2 Bdrm at OKW. (already have a 2 Bdrm for 7/7-7/10) It's not going to be very much fun if we have to move in the middle of our vacation but that's my own fault for waiting too long to book over a holiday. (I've learned my lesson!!) Good Luck to all and hopefully we'll all get what we want. Keep your fingers crossed!

A little extra pixie dust sure would help!

WOW!! That's fabulous!! I'm so happy for you!!

What's the difference re: lockoff in the 2 bdrm and "non" lockoff? Is there still a door to close for privacy inside the "non" lockoff unit? I just found out that I had to "request" a lockoff unit so eventhough I have a 1bdrm for the first 5 nights and a 2bdrm for the last 3 nights (non-lockoff), I'm still gonna have to move cuz I didn't request a "lockoff" unit. (Just found that out yesterday, 5/5) I'm learning a lot this first year of membership!!!! Last year (B4 DVC) we went to Port Orleans with 2 adults and 3 kids and I couldn't stand the 10 nights of cramped living space. We took a tour and fell in love with the resorts!! If we have to move it won't squash our excitment of our first DVC vacation!!!

Hopefully your good fortune will trickle down to me somewhere along the way!

From what the M told me, the lockoff is like having two rooms...a studio and a one bedroom. You can open the door if u want or close it for privacy. I actually wanted a studio and a 1 bedroom and the MS suggested the lockoff and saved me points! So instead of borrowing points from next tear I will have a few to bank!

We are (were???) waitlisted for a GV at OKW for July 4th (with backup ressies for a 2BR and a studio). The waitlist came through for July 2nd and 3rd and I have got fingers and toes crossed for the last day. I would LOVE to free up that 2BR and studio.

Since I told MS to automagically switch my ressie on a day-by-day basis, do I need to start calling them (soon) or should I just be patient?

My extended family couldn't go with us so instead of waitlisting for the 2 bedroom I'm keeping the 1 bedroom in July. However, originally was scheduled for the 4-8 but plane fares were much more for the 4th so we are going 5th-8th now. Tomorrow I will call and cancel my 1 bedroom for the 4th which hopefully will free up someone waiting for that date!!

Have a 2br at SSR for 7/3 and am waitlisted for a 1br.

We are booked in a 1 bedroom July 5 - 8 but are waitlisting for a studio or a 1 bedroom July 2 - 4. We are trying to decide if we should add all hotels or just leave the waitlist to OKW. At this point if we are moving rooms, it doesn't matter to me if we switch hotels too.

What do you all think?

I you like OKW, I would just waitlist there for about 3 weeks and then change it to all if nothing come thru. I just gave up the 1 bedroom today for the 4th there. (and they said it would be waitlisted) Good luck.

Woo Hoo! As you can see from my new ticker below - we got a room for the first part of the week. It is a studio, so we are still waitlisting for the 1 bedroom, but at least now we know we won't be homeless for 3 nights!

Okay everyone....Our waitlist came through for 7/2-7/7!!!! YEAH!!! We're now in a 2 Bdrm for our whole trip: 7/2-7/10. I'm still in shock!! We've been waitlisted for about one month. Here's the good part for all interested.....We've opened up a studio at SSR and a 1 bdrm at OKW. Hopefully this will help someone out there because I know what it feels like to sit, wait and hope that it will all work out. I'm so excited and anxiously awaiting our trip...only 5 1/2 weeks to go!!

Glad to hear that your waitlist worked out so well. I would love to give up the 2BR and studio that we have reserved at OKW for July 4th, but it's not looking good for us to get that last day in the OKW GV since we've passed the 30 day mark. Still, I suppose there is always a possibility that we'll get the room and that we won't have to switch rooms on the 4th.
