We've just booked for this summer and will be there for the 4th of July celebrations... I assume that Disney does something special but I have not heard or read about it. Can anyone help?

Thanks! :cool1:

It's superb!

I was there for 4 July in 2003 - the parks are busy - but - everyone will tell you they are rammed - we managed to get a lot done. At MK they were giving out special 4 July badges to people on the way in and during the day there was a special flag ceremony down Main Street led by Mickey - it involved all the razzamataz you would expect and had the star splangled banner everywhere!! We then headed to MGM after the parade and spent the night there. They had (and I think still do) have the Sorcery in the Sky fireworks - they only happen either once or twice a year and make a nice change. You can get a good spot in front of the Hat (I proposed during the fireworks - was nice at the time - not so nice now we've split up! :rotfl: )

The parks do get busy so be prepared for this - however, I would happily do it again - I had read horror stories of the parks stopping access at lunchtime becuase they were full but we didn't have any trouble. When we headed to MGM in the evening, there was a 20 minute wait for TOT.

Have a look around DIS and Allearsnet.com which will give you lots of info. wdwmagic also has some info on Sorcery at MGM.

Enjoy! :wizard:

:sunny: Hi We have been 3 times for 4th July the 1st time we spent the day in MK it was mega busy and for the evening we went over to Epcot for the fire works, as we were travelling over on the mono rail we were lucky to be sat with the train driver who told us the best place on the 4th July was Epcot as it is fairly quiet and lots of 4th July related stuff going on, the fireworks are stupendous they have the normal ones and then a fantastic display which is basiclly the best you will ever see, you are deaf when it is finished, So after that advice we always do Epcot on the 4th.
The characters are plentiful and dress up in colonial outfits there is lots going on around the countries etc and not too busy at least not until a couple of hours before the fireworks then people come from the other parks, maybe a priority seating at a resteraunt of your choice and settle down to wait ( I have been known to buy a blanket/rug from Mexico about$15 put it on the ground where there is a good view and wait,we then take it in turns to go for a wander, buy drinks shop and soak up the excitment.

I have been there a couple of times on 4th July

Both times they did indeed close MK by midday as it was full.

I personally didnt enjoy it as everything had at least a 40+ min wait and all the eateries were packed out etc
The 2nd year we spent the morning at Epcot and then went to Mk early evening - but they were turning people away at the car park entrance as it was still full.

However there is a good extra holiday feel to everything and the fireworks dispalys are extra big.
