4th july.

Hi there been to orlando twice before on 4th july and we went to magic kingdom both times and found the crowds and the heat to be a little to much does anyone have any ideas for somewhere else to go not as hectic as magic kingdom? we dont drive so we restricted to public and disney transport. Any ideas to where we should go. p.s our kids ages are 16,6 and 2. Thanks veery much. happy new year to all. The wright family.

The only time we have been there for 4th July we went to AK and the crowds were managable.

Saying that though, it was the first 4th July after 9/11 so I think crowds were down anyway. The only thing they did special at the park was hand out american flag pins as you entered.

Hopefully someone will have been this year and will be able to give a better idea.

We did US in 2003 and Typhoon Lagoon in 2008 on 4 July. Both were extremely busy but we expected that so didn't plan for a normal day at either park - we just took it easy, queued as needed and did both parks again on another day.

Worked for us and we're planning on doing TL on 4 July this year (and it is this year now !!).

("us" is me, DW and 2 DDs, 16 & 14).

Having experience 4th of July in MK, we vowed never to do it again. Last time we relaxed by the pool in the morning, had a nice lunch then went to Seaworld. Lovely and quiet and a nice relaxing day.

We were there last 4th July and to be honest there were lots of folks heading out for the day from the on site hotels. MK and EPCOT had extra fireworks on that night and so did DTD. I think even AK had an extra parade so I would imagine all the parks would have been busy. We stayed at our hotel, after hearing other guests talking about their plans for the day, and chilled out in the pool it was nice and peaceful hardly anyone around after 9 am. Lots of guests returned around dinner time 6ish to you and me and either grabbed a meal at the food courts or went to bed for a couple of hours. I got some laundry done while DH and DS swam and after that we had a leisurely day we played in the games room and caught up with some tv and watched the fireworks from out communal balcony. Our room was well located to see them and it beat being crushed by the masses in the parks.We saw lots of crowded buses full of happy but tired guests being dropped of up until about 2 am at our hotel. You could book a game of mini golf at one of the courses nearby or swim at Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon.

friends of ours were in Orlando two years ago for July 4th. There found it extremely hot and were worried about the heat and crowds in MK. He is a mason and like they do (apparently) popped into the lodge house in Orlando. They were invited to the local celebrations, somewhere in old Orlando. They ended up having a fantastic time, doing the "traditional" things, ending the day watching fireworks around a lake. There were lots of tourists there - you didn't have to be a Mason

Not been in July - but on Xmas day we did go to SeaWorld & found it a lot more manageable! perhaps you would have the same luck

We were there last July 4th but decided to give the parks a miss. Spent the morning at the pool and then - when it got too hot - headed to the shops. I see you don't have your own transport, but you could get a bus to DTD and then take a taxi from there to the shops.

Hi there,

I have spoken to friends in Florida who advised me against going to the parks on that day. We still went although do something slightly different like, rise early and go to the BB water park for opening time spend 5 hours there, then crazy golf at the Winter/Summerland, good fun!!!

Leave to go back to your hotel and rest then how about a nice buffet meal at the Trails End Buffeteria at the Fort Wilderness resort, this is one of many little gems at the Campground. You could spend the rest of the day there at the Tri Circle ranch, carriage rides,walks,the nightly Hoe Down making marshmallows with the kids. Another overlooked show is the hoop de doo review, book early though.

At the end of the night take a boat from the FW to the Contemporary to the TTC then connect with the Epcot monorail and be there in time for the Illuminations. If you want more food then consider either a quick fish and chips from Harry Ramsdens or try exiting the park at the International gateway and visit either Beaches and Cream at the BC or a Boardwalk eatery

Just a couple of tips, although I avoid the "Parks" on days such as these.
