Hi

Is there any anti British feelings on the 4th of July Independence Day
celebrations. Should British people stay out of the way for that day, stick
to their hotels etc. Just a little worried about it all

Thanks

Go out and have a good time. No hard feelings. I was in England for a 4th of July are we treated great.

Really good and fair question but I can honestly say in 41 years of celebrating that no one has ever expressed anything like that - AT ALL!!! Not even ever....i.e. 4th of July, or not. IMO most Americans never even think about it - atleast not in an angry way. We know that we got away from you guys :) (A little levity goes far!) but that made us happy - beyond that I dont anyone harbors any feelings (You know, it mgiht be different if we'd lost!!) REALLY, dont worry! Someone may hand you a sparkler though - join in! :)

I have to agree with VA bear! I have never in my life even thought about the fourth being something against anyone! We just celebrate becoming the USA :cheer2:

Have a good time with no worries :goodvibes

One of our best memories was of my son(9) at the time talking away to a boy from just outside of England while we watched the July 4th fireworks. They were a terrific family and you know it never even crossed our minds. We were all there to have fun. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Look for us we'll be there- I'll be the one with the kids. :lmao:

I can't begin to imagine anyone harrassing you on the fourth unless you were openly expressing an anti-American sentiment! Even then, you would probably just be ignored. Consider yourself an honorary citizen for the day and jump into the fun. Have a picnic, go to a parade, take in a fireworks show, have a nice time!!! Remember that nearly all Americans descended from somewhere else and we are, on the whole, a very accepting people. Also, the British tend to have a longer "historical" memory than we do. As another person stated, in celebrating we really only equate our Independence Day with the birth of our country. King George is long dead.

Heck no. My grandma was from the UK--and we still have family there!

Have fun celebrating!!!! Noone will be hollering "The British are Coming!!".

Most equate the 4th with food, fun, alchohol and fireworks. If you ejoy any of those--feel free to party with the rest of us!
