4th Girls-Only Trip ~ PLEASE check first post for link to new thread

Good morning ladies!!!

It's a blustery day here in Vegas but I rather like it. I will be working on starting the poll once I get the twins off to school, so look for it a bit later this morning. It will be a public poll which means everyone will be able to see who voted for which dates. It's open to anyone who actually plans on attending the next trip.

If anyone has any final thoughts, dates, ideas, opinions, etc they'd like to share, now is the time. But I think we have a nice range of dates and so far it appears everyone has a least one time frame that they really like. Plus even the soonest date is still almost a year out, so hopefully everything can be worked out and plans can be made so everyone wanting to attend will be able to.

Potential newbie to the group and all I can say is...it sounds like so much fun and if you pick a date when I'm not in school (one vote for spring break - should be the third week of March) I'm in. Otherwise, as much as I'd love to, I can't go.... again. Stupid school gets in the way of all my fun.

I work for 2 days, and all you know what is happening, chicken pox, fellow moaners, new dates, shirt distortion, newbies, oldies, and crazies! I don't know how I keep up!

I like the idea of a later trip, so that the next few years (we're doing this forever right!?!?) can be used at the end of our AP's. I'm just trying to be cheap. I love the idea of going during food and wine also. So, that's how I'm going to lean.

I'm doing well, and am not worried about the chicken pox at all. I had it twice as a child, and was vaccinated in nursing school. We had a patient with shingles lately, and the infectious disease doc said that I'm good and Natalie is good since I already have good immunity. (They checked my titers also.) Last year I brought Mono along on the trip, and it all turned out good. I just hope Cheryl feels better soon!

Oh, and I'm standing by my moaning is due to my hip pain. DH says I've never moaned before. (Well at least in my sleep!! )

Anyway, a blood test that tells you if you have antibodies to certain things in your blood. Nothing too exciting! LOL

tears in my eyes this morning

Don't even get me started with the tears!!!!!!

Okay, so I was driving my DD to school this AM and we were listening to my very special CD of songs from the 2nd Dis DIva trip when "You've Got a Friend in Me" came on. Well, it is such a hick-ish country-ish down home-ish song, I usually just skip it and move on with my listening enjoyment. Today I listened to the words. tI made me cry. The message of friendship really hit home....you guys....are....so...gulp...sniffle....choke....well.....you know.

GO listen to it you own selves!!!

I never thought of titers in an interesting way before...but now I see it!! My OB/GYN was quite unimpressed with my cavalier attitude about toxoplasmosis...after 12 years of veterianry medicine, 38 years of cat exposure, I was negative...and he was horrified that I wasn't worried about cleaning my indoor cats litter pans. I thought, golly, I think can avoid chewing my fingernails until after I wash my hands...don't you think?

Oh, now in 21 years of vet med I have seen 3 cases of toxo. It is fecal oral..I just keep my hands out of my MOUTH around cats...cool.

Hope no one ends up with chicken pox!!

Spring Breaks Next Year

I looked up some of the larger school districts in various locations/states in the west just to get an idea of when schools will be on spring break next year.

Peoria Arizona Unified: March 14-18
Scottsdale Arizona Unified: March 14-18

San Francisco Unified School District: March 28 - April 1
Denver Public Schools: March 28 - April 1

Orange County Unified school district: April 4-15.
San Diego Unified School District: April 4-8
Central Valley School District (Spokane): April 4-8

Los Angeles Unified School District: April 18-22
Salt Lake City Unified: April 18-22
Clark County School District (Las Vegas): April 18-22
Seattle Public Schools: April 18-22


So basically, it looks like the heavy spring break crowds will start around March 12th and continue through April 24th (Easter). Before March 12th and after Easter weekend, it doesn't look too bad.

I had cats with my first two pregnancies and changed the litter box. No problems at all.

I haven't read back very far, but I vote for slightly later for next year. I'd like a bit warmer weather. And, I do plan to attend. No GS, no bad knees!

Well and not that it matters but I can add that the schools up here always do spring break the week BEFORE easter. I forgot when you said easter was next year but that is when it will be for most of the schools in this area as well. Just an FYI!

I would LOVE to do food and wine but mom and I are pretty much open to whenever. Once it gets to be April swim starts so I know that will make it harder on shane as he will not only have to take the girls to school but to swim practice and then in May the meets start BUT I am sure for one weekend he can manage. I know WHENEVER we choose I will find a way! I'm not missing it no matter what!!
