4pm arrival, what rides

Our first day is a short day, with a hopeful arrival to DL of 4pm (maybe earlier) we have a 610 Blue Bayou reservation (PTN package for an 8pm show).

I'm fine with just walking around and enjoying being there but if we do arrive at 4 what are some good ride options to do between 4-6.... I was thinking Winnie the Pooh and maybe Pirates, as they seems to be in that area, but not sure much else is over there any suggestion?

This is August 30th so I'm assuming Haunted mansion will be closed.

You'll be close to Indiana Jones, but the line might be too long. Jungle Boat, Tarzan's Treehouse (walk through), Big Thunder and Splash Mountain will all be close to Blue Bayou. I'm just not sure how long the lines will be for everything. You'll probably get more ride in addition to Pooh and Pirates and probably Tarzan's Treehouse also.

Thank you!

I'll add jungle cruise to the list, I was thinking maybe buzz and Nemo in adventureland if we are early enough....

I'm going to check out what's in Tarzans treehouse.... Will a 2 year old enjoy it?

If you put the dl app on your phone, you can check when you get there to figure out where the shortest lines are.

Thanks! I have the app and am trying to check it even now every now and then to get an idea, I just don't want to be running now all over on day 1 to fit in a few rides and have a not good first day.... I would rather hit one or two rides and take it easy.

Keep in mind that Nemo is a huge time suck. A half hour line means budgeting almost an hour for the experience (time to load and unload plus the ride.)

The West side of the park (AL, FrL, CC, NOS) will give you the best experience for a first-time visit, late entry visit. It's really lovely over there and you will get some rides in.

Tomorrowland on the other hand has some great, unskippable rides. But as a land, it's frankly the worst themed, least immersive part of the park and difficult to navigate to boot. I think it would be a bummer to start there.

I was originally thinking I would stick to the west side and the lands you mentioned I am just not sure there was enough to keep us occupied with out huge lines.... I also could let DD just enjoy the walk up Main Street and maybe hit the carousel as she loves carousels! Then head west for pirates and Winnie the Pooh....

I don't think there's anything wrong with soaking up the atmosphere! I personally could spend a full in DL and not ride a single thing, because it's often pleasant just to watch the shows and wander around. It's too far out for a detailed entertainment schedule, apparently, but in that area there's usually a good chance to catch the jazz band or the pirate bootleggers trio. I personally always love the Tiki room, and the only time you have to wait is if there's already a show going on. There's also the Mark Twain -- it's docked right now, but it's fun to hang out on it, and sometimes the band is performing there, too.

There will also likely be a 4:30pm Soundsational parade going on that day -- not sure if you want to catch two parades in one day, but it could mean Main Street might be a bit congested when you arrive.

It also could be a good idea to check into BB a little earlier than your scheduled reservation if you want a waterside table -- they'll probably quote you a 30-40 minute wait, but sometimes it doesn't always take that long.

Thank you! Some great ideas, maybe I will take a look at the entertainment schedule and just do close rides and take in some performers!

It might be a good idea to get a Fast Pass for Splash Mountain. I also like to chill on the Mark Twain Riverboat (even though it doesn't sail now). Maybe Fast Passes for Big Thunder as well? And don't forget: both Indiana Jones and Splash have single rider lines :-). Hope this helps.

It's a lot of stairs going up the tree and then back down. If your 2 y/o likes stairs, it will be an excellent choice. Otherwise, you may find yourself doing some carrying.

IASW may have a short line too (it wasn't bad when we were there, except for right after a parade). My kids LOVED it when they were toddlers.

With the 2 y/o girl I would say your idea of the carousel may be good as long as she won't beg to ride Dumbo and Casey Jr. since she'll be able to see them. You can also go in the castle. There's a walkthrough exhibit that retells the story of Sleeping Beauty. And usually the Tea-Cups do not have a long wait either. There's something magical about Fantasyland with little ones. I do enjoy Pirates and Jungle Cruise a lot too. The first ride we took DD on was Jungle Cruise.
