495 Construction help please?

I may be a little rusty on my driving directions in that area, but if we don't use the Winchester, VA route (which we're debating - I say 495 is quicker) we would take 270 from Frederick, MD to 495 towards Annadale and Springfield to get to I9f heading to Florida?? If that is the correct directions, can anyone in the area tell me what road messes we might run in to if we are coming through on April 29th and returning on May 7th or 8th. I'm familiar with normal delays and rush hour, but it would be major road construction that would make me change my mind. I used to travel that area a good bit, but haven't in several years and in our last three trips we went through Winchester, WV to get to 95. We are coming from Cumberland, MD. TIA!

ETA: I found another route that uses US 29 and I95 from SC that looks interesting. Anyone ever try this one? Just wondering how congested the roadways get and how the ride is, if so.

Your directions are correct from Frederick to 495 to 95 south.

Thanks! I can't find anything on construction there! I did find that there is construction on the 81 route so we won't go that way for sure. We may go through Winchester though.

Look into taking the east side of the beltway instead of the west side that has all the construction. I don't know how much delay you run into during the day.
