Dis'ers,

My family and I (DH, DW, DS, DWM and DWD) will be visiting in March of 2017. I am a HUGE U.S Civics nut and American History fan. Can anyone share when the new audio and audioanimatronic of POTUS #44 was placed in 2009 and when we could possibly expect #45 to be placed in the MK attraction?

THANKS!!!

According to the Hall of Presidents wiki, the attraction was down between Nov 2008 and July 2009 to add #44.

Robinb, wasn't this, in addition to adding #44, a much more comprehensive refurbishment of the attraction? Maybe using #44 was a bad example. Does anyone have any insight into when it #'s 41, 42 and 43 were added?

Usually they do a refurb when they install the next president. It doesn't get a refurb many other times between elections.

It's been 8 years since the last one so I would assume it would be as long.

I recall that they changed the show for Obama and there was lots of discussion about it taking forever. Actually, I don't think I've seen it yet. I'd better add that to the list for Thanksgiving.

In 2009 The hall reopend 4th of July week. IMHO This seems to be the most appopriate time to re-open the attraction with the new POTUS added. I'd be surprised if Disney is able to add it faster than that. But When Clinton was added the attraction was closed for less than a month, so who knows. If you are plannig a trip around this attraction, i would keep an eye on the dis refurb section.

It closed on 1/20/2001, the day that Bush 43 was inaugurated. I remember because I saw the last show. At the time, it was uncertain *if* it would reopen, let alone when. From what I recall, it reopened that summer. That one was a less extensive rehab - the theme and script of the show remained the same, with Clinton's speech replaced with one by 43.
I suspect that the extent of the revisions will depend upon who the new prez is.

just for yucks....

Who is the youngest president? Wrong it is not JFK. Teddy Roosevelt was the youngest president. JFK was the youngest elected president.

What does the S in Harry S Truman stand for? Beeep, it doesn't stand for anything.

What day of the year has the most president died on? Believe it or Not - the Fourth of July. In fact two presidents died on July 4, 1826, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.

Easy one, how many men have been president? 43 not 44. Grover Cleveland is counted twice.

When I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour we were told that the sculptor starts works on the heads of both candidates once they are announced, as to have them ready for a quick placement. Also remember that the new POTUS records his/her voice to add a message to the attraction, with Obama it was about education, so that would need to be done, not sure if the new POTUS records this message once they are sown in or they can do it before January.

All content aside ................. I hate that there is this big theater in a prime spot and yet the attraction is minimally visited by guests. Any given time I go the theater is virtually empty except for some older folks ........... except when it rains hard and then folks just take refuge. Sad. :sad2:

It'e even sadder when the people who do attend it feel they need to boo during certain parts.

It's one of my favorite attractions, though I only need to hit once per trip. I'm glad that I get to see the sitting POTUS one last time before it changes over. I agree the HOP is very empty on most days, though as I recall there is usually a decent surge after a new POTUS is added to the attraction.

I have a feeling it will depend largely on who is elected. If T goes in then not much extra to be celebrated or touched upon. If H goes it then they have the whole first woman thing to work in and I'm sure Disney would go all out on that just like they did with Obama. Not saying it is a political thing or anything like that just what would be historic and what wouldn't be.

Honestly I don't think you can one way or another what will happen. No matter who gets elected they will have a role and speech in HoP.

I mean maybe if T is elected they would have to rework the whole show as well. Of course none of us know 100% what Disney is going to do. For all we know they could scrap it completely after this election. Yes there will be at minimum a small down time for new POTUS to be installed and programmed but I still stand by my thought process that it will depend on who is elected for how long it will be.

Yes it's true that no matter who gets elected there will be changes that need to happen. The fact of the matter is that one candidate (should they prevail) will be of far more historical significance than the other, that would likely require a more elaborate refurb that the other candidate and therefore take more time to add to the existing attraction.

They didn't do anything special because Obama won. The show was in desperate need for a new film, so they made the new film with Morgan freeman as the narrator. They just took the opportunity to do it when they had to place a new animatronic/
I don't think that they will change the show itself no matter who wins this time. They will just put Obama in the background with all the other presidents and place the new one in the front and record their sspeach
