I think that some of us are going to need to start saving more money to be able to feed our Deluxe resort habit - and maybe go to Disney less often...
Less often??? Now that's just mean!!! :)

But if that happens, then rooms will be available and codes will come up. In that case.. yeah, everyone go less (for my sake!!)

:) :grouphug:

But that really would suck not being able to go to Disney once a year. Sorry for the lack of a better word, hope it doesn't offend. I guess your right and that's too bad for a working class family such as mine. Maybe I'll have to start going ever two years or find another place to take my family. :guilty: Oh well, what can you do? Win the lotto and go once a month! LOL! :rotfl:

Never mind I thought you worked at Disney World since I saw Castmember written next 2 your name. I apologize for the comment. I still dont agree with what Disney charges and I know I am not the only one.
I didn't mean to say that I agree with what they charge for rooms - I was trying to point out the logic that they are a business and they are going to charge what they can - especially if people keep paying it.

I wish we could still buy bread for a nickel, or still get real penny candy....and not pay $1.00 or more for an ice tea or soda.

I just would like to know when $80 became a value rate.

The year the value resorts opened, they were $70-$80/night. I think $80 is a good value for a clean hotel room in a resort w/awesome theming, a full food court, free transportation, etc.

My feeling is... if you don't like the price, then don't pay it. There are the lower priced mods and values... or (heaven forbid) off site! For us... I was willing to fork over $1500 for 3 nights for a tower room during spring break... so, when I realized that by buying an AP... I could drop the price to just over $1100... it was a NO brainer, just icing on the cake. But either way we were going to stay in that tower room.

I think WDW is getting to be unaffordable. This may be the last time we go or at least stay on site. Below is what I found for a villa just 1 and 1/2 miles from WDW with free transportation to the parks. I am really beginning to wonder why I choose to stay on site. One hour early entry is really not such a big perk when you look at what other resorts/Hotels are offering. The Hotel is absolutly beautiful with a very large pool with slide. The price for a 1 bedroom suite is only $129.00/night. Below is the price for a villa I cannot believe I am paying $126.00 AAA rate for a small room with 2 full size beds at POR. :confused3

I disagree. I was looking at my old Birnbaums WDW 1996 book and the prices weren't all that much less, I was actually surprised. They had the moderates for around $100, the value resorts were around $80. I know we paid $72/night w/AAA discount the year the All Stars opened. I don't think thats too much of a difference in almost 10 years.

The rates have increased progressively, some years moreso than others. What hurts is the lack of deep discounts they used to have. That's where it's bit us as locals. Those days may be over and we'll have to adjust. That adjustment may not favor Disney, though. As a local it's not in my interest to continue to pay $450 a night for the Polynesian Concierge even with a discount when there are other things we haven't seen yet in Orlando.

Maybe it's for the best, though. Hawaii is looking more and more economical now. Sooon... :teeth:
