Does that sound right? The dates are 10-29-05 through 11-6-05. Eight nights comes out at $3,389.60 for a tower room. That seems high for the regular season. Any ideas??

Thanks

Tower Rooms are expensive. Consider buying an annual pass and watching for AP codes then see if you can revise your reservation with the code. It should be a healthy savings.

We stayed at the contemporary on 10-27- two nights only. We were booked in a garden wing and got upgraded to a tower room for free. It can happen.

I just booked a AAA rate of $293.00 a night for the first weekend of December. Since your staying a week it is worth the investment in AAA. Just a note with taxes it came out to $326.00 a night.

That sounds right b/c just a garden view room at Poly during regular season is almost $400. -Steph

That sounds right to me. We are going in late April, which is also regular season, and we are paying $381 per night with the AAA discount (which is typically a 10% discount).

We may have to give up our beloved Tower room after the rumored refurbishment.

What rates would you have them charge? The prices are set by what the market will bear....simple economics.

Hi Northern Lights - have you heard any more about the refurbishment rumours? I'm going in May but haven't heard very much about them refurbishing the rooms yet. Why are you thinking you'll have to give up your room? Do you think they'll be moving us around due to renovation? Thanks!

I didnt want to stir up any trouble ILOVEWDW2003. I just think that the prices for the Value resorts are getting very expensive. I am not "bashing" Disney nor am I saying I will never go back. All I said is I dont see the value of $80 a nite.

I disagree. I was looking at my old Birnbaums WDW 1996 book and the prices weren't all that much less, I was actually surprised. They had the moderates for around $100, the value resorts were around $80. I know we paid $72/night w/AAA discount the year the All Stars opened. I don't think thats too much of a difference in almost 10 years.

With the discount on MYW tickets (I think the 7 day comes out to around $24 per day for an adult) would I save enough on an AP rate at the CR to cover the price for APs.

Rarrington - sorry for the confusion due to my esoteric response. I just meant that after "sprucing" up the CR we may be priced out of the Tower since pre-refurb we are already paying close to $400 per night!

Like you, I sought w/o luck any refurb information. I think each of us will be fine for our upcoming trips. Last rumor I saw had Disney refurbishing one floor, one Tower side at a time. The rumor is that the rooms will be spectacular, and will have large plasma televisions hanging from the walls, remote controlled curtains, Internet stations, etc.

Can you imagine what a Tower room would cost after refurb? Like I alluded to my prior post, we may have to ditch the Tower for the "more affordable" Poly.

As a Disney fanatic even I have to admit that the prices are getting out of hand. I can't buy a AP because I never know when I'm going back and the last trip was a Christmas suprise from Mom and Dad (They treated) I'm going to join AAA but even that doesn't help enough sometimes. This upcomming trip is going to be our last for a while at the Deluxes because it's getting to expensive for us. We're spoiled by the deluxe hotels and I wasn't too impressed by the prices or the room size on the value resorts. I don't see all of the codes that used to be everywhere. When I first started reading Mousesavers in the spring of 2002 there was a ton of codes available. (I'm talking about non AP codes) Disney is missing out by not releasing more codes to the general public. Does anybody remember the stay for 7 pay for four program that came out in Spring 2003? That was a great savings and they should do that more often for us true Disney fans by sending us this as a thanks to all of the repeat customers. I could comfortably stay at a deluxe and not worry about how I can really afford this vaction. Every true Disney fan should be able to stay at a Deluxe once in a while in their lives. I can't wait to go in April but a part of me is a little worried about if I'm doing the right thing by spending so much money. A little help from Disney with discounts would have been nice. Oh well, I just wanted to put in my 2 cents in. pirate:

Disney releases codes only when they need to, not to reward the true Disney fans.

If all of the resort rooms are full, why should they release codes? Disney is not missing out - they have resorts that are full - with people paying rack rate or close to it!

In the spring of 2002, tourism was down due to 9/11. Disney had to release codes, 7 for 4, 7 for 5, etc to fill the resorts.

I think that some of us are going to need to start saving more money to be able to feed our Deluxe resort habit - and maybe go to Disney less often...

For me it was worth it to buy an AP. I had the winter discount code rate for CR wing room at $237 and changed to the AP rate of $199.

ILOVEWDW2003 since your a cast member why dont you hook us up with youre castmember rates. All you have to do is call 407-939-2278. I mean is only fair since you think is ok for Disney to charge us $100 + for a AS room. You dont have to pay that rate but by us paying it you get a weekly paycheck. I am glad that all the Disney Hotels are full and things are going well. I just would like to know when $80 became a value rate. I recall paying that at Coronado one thanksgiving weekend.

Never mind I thought you worked at Disney World since I saw Castmember written next 2 your name. I apologize for the comment. I still dont agree with what Disney charges and I know I am not the only one.

Yipes, maybe I am jumping in without knowing for sure, but I don't think that ILOVEWDW2003 is a cast member? I think they've posted enough on the DIS to earn DIS cast member status? Am I right? If not, sorry. Regardless, even if they were a CM, it really has nothing to do with the issue of costs for rooms.

I don't know, maybe off topic, but I read these boards and count myself lucky at the rates I do get, even for value. We live in the DL area, and being DL passholders, find ourselves visiting often. The DLR resorts out here rarely offer the kinds of prices I am able to get out there at WDW...most often, the rates we get typically run from $150-350 per night, and unfortunately that INCLUDES the local Holiday Inn :( I count myself lucky when I can get a Value onsite for $100, considering it includes transportation if I choose it, plus all the added benefits. Would I like it cheaper? SURE! But in the end, I consider it kind of a deal. Guess it all depends on your point of view and where you are coming from!

Have you priced Hotel Rooms in NYC? For a room that sleeps a family of 4, you would never find a clean one for $80-$100 a night.

But-I still want my AP rates!
