40th Birthday -- What to Do?

Okay --

I've booked our annual early December WDW trip... which always happens to coincide with my birthday - Dec. 4th... coincidence? Yes - in part - as you all know early December is low points, low attendance etc.

I typically try to downplay the birthday thing and being at WDW - because it isn't really fair that we happen to go at my B-Day --- but this time will be different from usual because I'll hit the big FOUR - OH.

Soooooo --- what to do special... things for all of you to consider as you assist in this quest...

> Have 2 daughters - one 4, one is 9months
So --- anything really fancy is out with the girls -- we love Victoria and Alberts, but only go when Grandparents are around for baby sitting... and for my actual B-Day I want to include them.
> It is possible that my Mom and her partner will come -
> It is also possible that we may have another few friends around.

I was thinking about the Hoop De Doo -- haven't been there for 10years. I've been to luau -- not that impressed...

.... anyway --- I thought I'd throw this out there for some feedback!!!!

I also went to WDW for my 40th. My kids at that time were 4, 7, and almost 10. I would recomment the Hoop de Doo. That is what we did and had a great time. One night my husband and I also went alone to the California Grill. That was the trip that we spoke to DVC and then bought at VWL. Have a great time!

Another vote for HDDR. That's exactly what we did for my 40th a few years ago. We took our family of 5, my sister's family of 4, my mom, step-dad and grandmother (12 of us). We stayed at OKW in a 2 bedroom and a studio. Non of them are "park people" or Disney fanatics like I am, but they agreed to come because it's my favorite place in the "world". The first night we all did HDDR. The next day we just hung out at the pool, had dinner in our villa, then headed over to the Poly beach to watch the fireworks and boat parade. It was very memorable and HDDR was a blast. My kids were 5, 6 & 8 at the time. My family left on day 3 and just my family stayed and did our "park madness", hee hee! This was also the day (my actual birthday) that we had dinner at Rose&Crown at Epcot and had great outdoor seats for Illuminations. It just doesn't get any better.

Wow, are you old I won't be 40 until December 8th this year!!
When I realized that we would be getting off of the Wonder on my 40th birthday, it was just too much agony to bear, so we are going to Vero for two extra days, making our vacation exactly 2 weeks long. I really am looking forward to my 40th, as I sit on the (hopefully) warm beach sipping something with an umbrella in it. . .

Get a Fairy Godmothers or Kids Nite Out babysitter, then take your spouse to the Brown Derby for Cobb Salad, a fancy-pants entree, and grapefruit cake.

If your server finds out, the people at WCC makes the event pretty special too. DH celebrated his 60th there in November.

I celebrated my 40th at WDW a couple of years ago. Make sure you get a birthday button at the Magic Kingdom townhall--CMs let me ride in the lead car on several attractions and I rode on Splash Mountain three times in a row. (It was a very slow day, though!) I am a low-key person, but it was fun to get all of the notice.

We had a very nice dinner at The Contemporary, and I got birthday greetings throughout the day. From the Contemporary, we could see both the MK and the Epcot fire works. It was a special evening.

My motto: If I am going to get old, I might as well do it someplace where I can act like a kid.

You could try one of the Illumination Cruises.......You could get one that serves food on the Cruise. This is a bit pricey, but an unbelievable experience. You can call WDW-PLAY for info.
