My birthday is December 31st, and I've still got a few years, but not many, until I am *heh-hem* 40  How crazy would I be to want to take a trip to DL for my birthday. I was thinking 50th, but you know, 40th is a lot closer, and it sounds like fun! I'm already planning my 100th birthday there. (Sure hope I make it that far!)

So, I know it's really busy that week between Christmas and New Year's. Is it doable at all?

Hi -

HAPPY BIRTHDAY... early!

My 40th birthday was December 2nd of 2006 and decided to have a Birthday bash at DL too :cool1:.

Since my bday falls close to Thanksgiving, going to DL was OUT of question for that particular weekend. So we decided to go closer to Christmas (Dec 15-22). The parks were EMPTY  !!!! We had such a great time -- I will do it again and again at that time of year!!

We had SO many rides to our selves -- personal boats on pirate: for example!

You might want to consider going before your birthday--- I know it is not the same as being there ON the actual day but the lack of crowds will make it seem worthwhile!!!

Yeah, the huge crowds would deter me from going on the 31st. maybe you should celebrate a little early or late? It's still DL. It's not going anywhere. Yes, it would be fun to go on THE day but realistically, you will be shoulder to shoulder with everyone else. If it was me, I wouldn't want to go NYE even if it was my birthday. But the choice is yours.

I'm planning my 40th Bday with girlfriends at DL too!
Great minds think alike.

Altho, my Bday is Sept 19, so it works out to be at a perfect time.
It also falls on a Friday next year..meant to be..Easy for friends to come down for a weekend.

I would definitely not go on the 31st of Dec. Since Christmas time is a hard time for most people to leave their family and go celebrate a 40th birthday you might want to wait until after the Holiday rush, maybe just 1 week even. By Jan 7th most kids should be back in school. Also, more of your friends could probably make it to help you celebrate AND enjoy the getaway with you by then.
That would be sad if most people cancelled due to bad timing(Holidays).

I did my 30th at WDW and it was incredible. We did the MK for the big day and had dinner in the castle... Not an option at DL, but there are still great things to do.

Now that I'm DVC, I'm thinking about making it an annual thing. Already booked for this year, in November! ;)

I did my 40th at DL - it was a blast! Lots of birthday stuff you can do, and even birthday wishes from non-speaking characters (thanks Woody!). I did mine in August so there were lines, but oh well, it's still Disney!

i did my 30th at DL and it was great. we loved it. i am planning on going back for my 35th, 40th, 45th, etc on top of our annual trip. there is something magical about a disney birthday. i say go for it. :cool1:

I've actually heard that early december is a great time to go! So for the b'day person on the 2nd, maybe you should go ON your b'day in the future!

For the OP, I personally would probably freak out with the NYE crowds, so I'd schedule it early. Actually, we ARE panning on visiting the first week of December...after the Tofurky Day crowds are gone (sorry, haven't have turkey in 15+ years, can't call it Turkey day, LOL), but before the xmas crowds arrive...
