40th bday ideas?

My husband officially turned 39 AND A HALF yesterday. (We know this, because the kids pointed out today that they are 7 1/2.) Yes, our triplets' bday is the day after my husbands, and after years of getting the shaft, they know that this year, it's all about Daddy!

So any good ideas on how to celebrate the big 4-0? I'd like to try to keep it to a party at home, but July is hot, so I cannot see many people hanging outside for long. I am just looking for one creative idea that we can do during the celebration to make it special. (I suggested going to WDW to celebrate all 4 bdays, but was shot down....I think the phrase about FL being hotter than heck in July was in there!)

This is more of a gift idea than a party idea, but does your husband have a favorite sports team? For my DH's 30th and my BIL's 30th birthdays I had jerseys made of their favorite team with a number thirty on back and their last name.

DH turns 40 in October, and we are doing a Disney celebration - one week in a AKV concierge 1BR followed by a 7 day cruise in a Cat 3. And DH gets to choose all our dining...

I don't blame you for not wanting to do WDW in July... What is your DH into? Any particular sport? Maybe some particular kind of food? I would take whatever it is he likes, and focus the celebrations around that. Get the kids to help as much as possible with the prep work so they can feel involved too... ...which I'm sure you would do anyway.

My DH turns 40 in July also! I think I read this on the family board, but someone decorated a jar and put in 40 reasons she and her kids loved their dad/husband.

I'm looking forward to reading responses too! Last summer we went to a surprise 40th party at a Cincinnati Reds game. He thought he was just going with his family. His wife called and got group rates/tickets and then mailed them to us.

Hmmm...what does my DH like? Golf, college football, eating crabs (we live in MD), Rockband....

Someone told me how they projected their Rockband on a wall and had "band tours" for a party. Not sure that's a special 40th, but definitely a party idea.
