40th Anniversary WDW

I've heard from a trusted source that they will definitely be having a new parade for the 40th. Not sure exactly what else they will do to celebrate it, but I know that there is a parade planned.

WAY overdue and GREAT news!

The website Stitch Kingdom has reported Disney trademarking "Let the Memories begin" of course both the site and I have theorized that "Memories" is going to be next years theme, the prove more evidence the next day I saw an ad for the Vacation Planning DVD that said something like "Want to make Memories, just push play." could that mean a new DVD along with a new adventising campain, park decorations, and hopefully an new castle show and parade.

Interesting. On Facebook today, Walt Disney World asked, "What do you remember best about your first visit to Magic Kingdom?" I wonder if they would use some people's responses to promote a possible Memories theme.

October 1st, 2011 marks the historic 40th anniversary of the Walt Disney World® Resort, and we will be celebrating! :banana:
Does anyone know the official activities offered by the Walt Disney Company?.

I got it! I got it!

"what do you remember best about your first visit to the Magic Kingdom".....clean bathrooms. We lived in Jacksonville (with my former husband) when WDW first opened. Everyone we knew....and maybe even some we didn't know....found their way to our doorstep so we could take them to WDW.

I remember commenting on....."trash is picked up before it hits the ground" and "how can they keep bathrooms so clean with so many guests".

Maybe they will just keep the bathrooms clean for the 40th!:thumbsup2

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

ok, ok clean IS very important to me...and I will admit the bathrooms are not as bad as they were a year or so ago when then were basically sewers. but you know what....the rest stops on the Jersey Turnpike are clean....and they are not new.

sigh...ok, beating a dead horse here.....sorry.

Let the memories begin? Uh, well, O.K......

Well I hate to be heckled :mad: , but I agree that is funny ;) , I hope they don't replay the Remember the Magic promotion by mutating the castle into some hidious pastery.

If I may add to this, there will also be a new castle stage show. Of course they'll almost definitely advertise Star Wars 2 as part of the 40th celebration too (even though it's coming in May and the 40th isn't until October).

Not sure what else, if anything as of yet. At this point they really can't do any attractions, but I would think something fairly simple would be to add a 40th tag for Reflections of Earth. I can very easily see this happening, but who knows.

The other thing is, the D23 Expo is RIGHT before the 40th. They may just try to get off by announcing a few things there and just have people be happy from that and b/c of that, they'll think they don't have to do as much for the 40th. Just throwing that out there as a possibility, not saying it will happen.

Sad news, Disneyland is getting this awesome parade: http://thedisneyblog.com/2010/07/30/soundsational-parade-coming-to-disneyland-in-2011/

It hasn't been annonced what WDW is getting, I have a weird feeling their going to give us Disneyland's Parade of Dreams, at least its better than that recycled to oblivion __ a dream come true parade, but who knows what secrets Disney could be keeping from us ;) .

WOO HOO.....we are talking about another DL in 2011 to checkout World of Color. New parade would be icing on the cake (NOT the big pink castle cake, however!!!)

I so hope this is running by the first weekend in march....:)

WOW - I can't believe it has been 25 years since the pink cake castle. It seems like yesterday to me.

Fourteen years, DS turned 5 at Disney the first time we took him, he will be 19 in September, so the pink nightmare was 14 years ago!

I was 4 when the castle was turned into cake, I even remeber the commericals that showed it as a cake.

That year was my DD's first visit to WDW and she thought the castle cake was how it was SUPPOSED to be. Granted, she was only 4 at the time and we quickly showed her pictures of how it REALLY is! :lmao: She thought the castle cake was beautiful! Mom, not so much.

LOL! WOW is all I can say. I never got to go to WDW until I was 32, so I missed this piece of work through a child's eyes. I waited until my 11 year old got home to ask his opinion. He got his first glipse of the castle at age 4. We both agree that the cake is something to behold, be we cannot decide what to official make of it. If I was a 5 year old girl I would have thought it was awesome, and maybe where King Candy of Candyland held court. Now, I just want to see the castle at Christmastime with the icicle lights:).

We are planning on going in March 2011 for my 40th birthday too, so I am hoping WDW does something. More new parade floats or a whole new parade and castle show at MK would be great. I'll cry if they every change floats at AK (I am a sucker for those animal floats), and I am just plain happy to see the flower festival at Epcot. HS is changing the HSM show so I'll just be happy with whatever they come up with.

Anyone know anything about something called the Florida Project at Epcot Sept 9-11, 2011?

Wondering if this is part of the 40th Anniv?

I am booked for a trip to be down there for the 40th. I hope they do something. we are booked for SEPT 25th-OCT 2nd. Do you think if they are if they are going to do something. Am I better off changing my trip to a week after OCT 1st?I would be upset if there was some sort of special events starting after we leave. whats your thoughts on this?

Hello Minnie Mommy Mouse !,

UUUUUUR - UUUUUUR, Slow down the car here a bit on being there in March 2011 for Your 40th Birthday Expecting to see anything from Walt Disney World's 40th Anniversary Period. Your best bet of catching the better part of something from The 40th Anniversary of WDW before October 1st is in September.
Have a great 40th Birthday at WDW if you all are able to make it happen.
With that said ..... Happy Planning.
