Sooo… has anyone heard of any celebration Disney is putting on for Epcot’s 40th anniversary?

Seems kinda late to not have any mention of it at all, no??
Weird.

Each time we have been to Disney in the past, one of the parks always seemed to be celebrating something. I think is just part of their marketing effort to have something about Disney to advertise.

I’m just going with my experience with the 35th

Commemorative map & button…waited 90+ minutes at image works for a figment Funko pop (they were limiting 10 per guest people were going down the line saying oh you were just needing 2? Buy 10 and I’ll pay cash for the other 7) suffice to say I wasn’t even near the front when they sold out (though mouse gear was only limiting two Funko pops and my other party member got them + a Magic band)

Seems like they will be doing even less for EPCOT 40th then they did for MK's 50th. While there wasn't a lot done for the 35th, at least that was promoted for quite a while before t happened.
I wonder if they feel the parks are full enough, they don't need to do any special promotions?

Ummm, anything yet? We are 4 weeks away! Regardless, I will be in Epcot on 10/1/22 having my own celebration! Epcot is my favorite park and I will have fun reliving all the memories I have from the last 40 years... Dreamfinder and Figment, Communicore, Horizons, World of Motion, Wonders of Life, Energy, Sea Base Alpha, Maelstrom, Captain EO, eating at The Odessy and Alfredo's restaurants, and meeting the characters as they came off the omnibus by Spaceship Earth. Oh yeah, and enjoying my last day at F&W!!

Still have not seen anything about the 40th. We will be there mid month and hoping to see something. Unless they are waiting until the center construction is finished to celebrate.

I wouldn't expect much of anything. Making a last minute trip that weekend so plan on enjoying Epcot and celebrating by myself.

Very interested to see what they do, if anything. I'd expect a merchandise collection at a minimum. For the 30th, D23 did some special events but I haven't heard anything this year.

d23 tickets for an event on 10/1 went on sale yesterday and of course sold out in a blink of an eye. Did anyone get tickets?

Yes. It was surprisingly easy. No where near the logjam that was trying to get the D23 Guardians of the Galaxy tickets. The offerings are pretty lame - I mean, they’re including an LL for Living with the Land…I love LwtL, but really? Hopefully they have something interesting during the breakfast.

This D23 event seems very lacking. Seems the main point is the merchandise.
Agreed - they made sure to highlight the section that noted D23 members would not be privy to any merchandise that would not be offered to the general public, so even though part of the lure was seeing/buying the merch before the parks opened, there will be nothing specific for D23. I guess we can beat resellers, but I have yet to see something I really want. Don’t think I’ll waste my 30 minutes shopping.

they announced a line up of anniversary treats being offered at various points of the Thursday September 29th-Monday October 3rd range

Has anyone heard any info on whether the day of merch will have virtual queues like the WDW 50th did, and where the signups for queues will be located? The D23 announcement made it seem like everything would just be for sale in Creations.
