$400-$580 Car Rental end of Dec???

I have tried everything and I'm not sure what is different about what I'm trying and all you people getting rates of $140-$180 for about the same number of days. Can anybody help? Is it where I'm renting, the period being over the holidays, something else I'm doing wrong?

Dates: Dec 29, 1pm to Jan 5 8pm. That's 8 days by my count, right?

I tried a bunch of others including the Hertz Delta code, but on that site, it wouldn't even rent me a car at all saying "no car at that rate" even for a Jaguar. This is crazy. Thanks for any help.

I got a good rate with Thrifty - $160 approx. for dec 31-jan 8 using code AU02. Looked it up on Mousesavers and it worked. It was for an economy size for $79 a week and it's good as long as you book by Dec 31.

If you want to go through national go to mousesavers.com and get the AMEX discount code. Many people have used it and say you dont need to pay with it if you want to pay with another method. I have a 6 day rental with that code for 12/28-1/02 for $177.00 all taxes included.

Your big problem is that this is the busiest time of the year in Orlando and they may just be VERY short on cars which allows them to raise the rates.

I would go to Mousesavers.com and just try everything she has listed. You might also try L&M.

You don't say what type of car you are trying to rent. Your rates look like maybe a mini-van? If so, check out Budget. They have been showing really good rates on their 12 passenger vans lately.

I got one of those vans for 8 days for 234.01 including taxes and fees. A mini-van would have cost me almost $500.

all i can say is keep checking your rates, i check them 4 times a day and for the last 3 weeks nothing now today it dropped another 20 bucks i am going a bit earlier then you 12/10-29th good luck

We used the Thrifty code for that time period too and got the special rate. It was the cheapest by far!

Thanks! We found a good rate at budget (this was for a car, not a minivan and we didn't care about size since to be honest, we may only use the car for the first 3 days staying off-site and we will never drive more than a few miles). We found good rates with budget using the BJ's discount codes and a better rate using the thrifty code listed here and moussavers.
