I went to the Donkey Derby at Sundorne in Shrewsbury (apparently my Father wanted to watch something on TV without being disturbed). I came back, had my tea and sat down to watch my favourite programme, Dr Who. There was a football match on which went into extra time. I sat through extra time and my Father was getting very excited. The BBC then said that Dr Who was postponed due to the football match going into extra time!!!

PS. I am an avid football fan and still support the "Gods" in exile but at the age of 8 it didn't mean too much to me.

Sadly wasnt born till 68 so I just hear the tales from old folk.

One day I have to believe we will win it again and I will drink like nothing else

I was also 8 at the time.
We went on a coach trip to Weston-Super-Mare and I couldn't understand why my father wanted to stay home and watch a football game!

Now I would not miss an England game for anything.
