Which is the better deal??? I have a res for 4/7 for 1/27-2/2 at POR but we have to leave on 2/2 so it is really only 6 days. I like the cancel terms for the 40% room only deal so thinking of changing to that and just buying the MYW tickets when we get there. Which is the better deal????? So confused

Did you get a PIN code? I'm just asking because mine says it is 35% discount at a mod (which is what POR is). The 40% was for deluxe resorts. If you do have a 40% and are planning to only stay 6 nights (instead of 7) it is a better deal to do the room only discount than the 4/7.

You can always call and ask the CM to run the numbers for you, and if you want you can still add the tickets & the dining plan to the room discount (I have them on my ressie, with a 30% room only code for ASMu).

We already booked the buy 4 get 3 for January for 7 nights. After getting the 40% off I called and the 40% off was over $100 more than the buy 4 get 3 more.

I didn't actually run your numbers, but I think 40% is going to be better for you if you're staying 6 nights. On the 7/4 (but staying 6 nights like you said) you'll pay for 4 get 2 free so that's like 33% off I think. (note, I didn't factor in the savings on the tix with the 7/4)

Is there some kind of rule of thumb to this? I always thought the 4/3 deal worked out to being "about 40% off", but obviously this also maxes out on a 7-day trip. If you're going longer, a 40% off PIN has got to be better, right?

3 free with 4 paid is about 43%, and you are right staying more than 7 nights the 40% pin is better.

You will have to do *gasp* the math to see which is better.

(1) 4 Days Rack rate plus a 6-Day MYW pass.

v/s

(2) 6 Days at 40% off plus a 6-Day MYW pass.

Since the passes are the same price, the difference is between the room rates. Rack rate is $149 for the weekdays and $159 for the weekends. You would pay for Wed, Thur, Fri and Sat on the 7 for 4 deal.

(1) 2 Days @ $149 + 2 Days @ $159 = $689 with tax
(2) 4 Days @ $89 (40% off) + 2 Days @ $95 (40% off) = $615 with tax

The 40% off code is better.

Disney Visa holders received a 40% off deal at select Moderates and Deluxes for 1/1 thru 2/11.

Like you said though, if only staying 6 nights then the DV discount is definitely the better. One thing I'd add though is that if the OP is only buying tickets and not wanting to buy a dining plan that she'll save a few extra bucks by buying the tickets from Undercover Tourist rather than buying them upon arrival.

Another poster did the math for OP but those numbers included MYW tickets from Disney. Even then the numbers showed the 40% deal as better. With the UT tickets, it would be even that much better of a deal.

I had forgotten about the Disney Visa deal, since so many were posting about the other PINs that got emailed out in the last few days. ;-)

UT will save a few more bucks... I was just thinking about how they were thinking to just purchase tics at the gate upon arrival. I personally like KTTW cards, just easier to keep it all together for me, as I have enough stuff to keep track of when we travel. :lmao:

This is correct.
I am staying 10 days at Pop, I got an extra $100 off using the 40% pin.

Same for me as well. 4 get 3 was $175.00 cheaper than pin and buying tickets.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I believe we can add our tickets to the room only res before we get there or at least at the Resort put them on the KTTW card...right? I did it this way a few years ago and my memory is a bit foggy. Our last 2 trips were packages so it was all on there. Money is a little tight this year so not doing the dining plan or TS meals.

well I did it...changed to 40% room only ...if I buy tickets from UT it will save me almost $200 tottal....more Disney stuff to buy while there....yeah!!!! Now to find a good airline deal. Will be at POR 1/27 - 2/2.Never stayed there before so we are excited about that.

For anyone else "running the numbers", remember to keep in mind that with the 4/7 deal, they will take the rack rate for the MOST EXPENSIVE NIGHT during your stay (usually a weekend) and charge THAT for the 4 "paid nights".

If you are using a code for "room only", they will apply 40% off the rate for each individual night, then go from there. Room only codes will end up being a better deal if your stay is in a deluxe and includes a weekend that is priced higher than the weekdays. You can't just simply assume the 4/7 deal is "43% off", because sometimes it is not.

I disagree, they don't take the most expensive night, they take the average of the room rates for the 7 nights of your stay. Also, don't forget to add in the 12.5% tax onto the room rate after you get your number to use for the 4 paid nights.

Also, with the 4/7 deal, you save on the 3 days tickets as well- $9.98 pp for the 3 days.

I got the pin too, but my 4/7 deal is about $115 better for me at a moderate (CSR) in peak season rates.
