In case you've missed this, you can go to the Disney Store website and they have 40% off selected costumes. Also, if-- after discount-- your order is $75, you receive free shipping.

I don't know about you all, but I can CERTAINLY spend $75+ at disneystore.com! Also-- there's a coupon code (HALLOWEEN2004) for an additional 10% off.

What a great way to outfit our kids (and ourselves???) for pirate night and dress all those little princesses for their onboard photops! Also, not a bad way to stock up for Christmas before our January cruise...

I got that e-mail yesterday about the sale.

I am thinking about getting DD the Mulan costume - for dress up not Halloween. But I don't think I can order $75 to avoid the shipping charges. Hopefully the 10% discount will off-set some of the shipping charges.

Does anyone else buy the Disney Princess costumes as "toys" for their girls to play dress-up?

I just bought the Jasmine costume for my DD for a Christmas gift. As far as I know the Disney Store is the only one that carries Jasmine outfits for dress-up, and I decided to buy it while it was on sale.

FYI, I took a print-out of the disneystore.com sale price listings and the store gave it to me for the same price (19.99).

Tre3-

Really? The DS matched the on-line price. Our DS will not do that and I have heard that many other DSs don't do match prices.

You are so lucky. The Jasmine costume is really nice. I got it for DD for her birthday a few weeks ago. I think it runs big, so you may want to check the size. I got DD size 6/6x in hopes her being able to wear it for a long time. It was huge on her, swallowed her right up- too long and waist too big. I took it back and got her the 4/5. She is a tiny 6yr old(not quite 40lbs yet).

Thanks for the info.

i also got the jasmine costume yesterday.....i got the 6/6x too....my DD is a big 5 yo 47 lbs and 45 " tall......
so i hope it fits her  really not much time to send it back to exchange for a size before halloween.

I just wanted to add to this. I bought a few things on Friday with my bank card visa. Well, over the weekend I was charged 3 times by Disney! When I called Disney to see why they charged me three times they said it was for authorization and the money would eventually fall back into my account. They said they always do this with bank cards. Which, this wasn't the first time I've ever bought anything online-- this has never happened before to me. I was charged a $30 insuffecient funds charge from my bank. I know that if I want something from Disney I'll either pay by check or not buy at all. I had no idea this would happen. Disney was not very cooperative with me. They acted like it was no big deal! I had other transactions going through and now I'm messed up at the bank. If you're going to buy from Disney with your bank card, please be careful!

LilMamiBella,

Oh man... I would be pissed. They only extra charges I have ever got we for $1.00 from them. No the whole amount and especially not 3 times. There is no reason for them to do that. I would call back and try to get someone higher to complain to.

I also only use my bank card.

I bet the bank will refund the fee. they don't offer it on their own, but if you ask they almost always will. At least mine does, even when it was my fault. I had a lot of problem for a while that were the banks fault and of course they refunded fees. Then I did it on my own and was charged, they refunded it with no problem.
(Bank of America)

I think the yahoo you spoke to on the phone was full of B.S. I seriously doubt that this is normal procedure.

I was so excited that the deluxe Cinderella costume was finally on sale. I didn't want to pay $84. Between the sale price and the code I paid less than $60. Now I'm worried about the Jasmine costume I bought for dd at DS. I got it for her for Christmas and bought the 6/6X size. She usually wears a size 6. I guess I'd better check it so I can return it if it seems too big. BTW my Disney Store won't honor the on-line prices. I also ordered the Snow White costume too.

Yes, this happened to me too...I was buying my APs last year and using my Disney Club discount and the CM rang it up wrong and said she had to start over, well, because this has happened to me before (where they authorized and held my bank money before; at Filene's) I told her to use my regular credit card this time. While she was trying again, I asked about my bank card and she said not to worry that it didn't go through. Well, of course it did and I was out $1018 for a month!!! It took them a month to put it back into my account. Luckily I called my bank right away and they put the money back and waited for Disney to put the money back. BUT because I called and complained, they put a stop to my charging privileges on my Debit Visa and didn't tell me so it took a couple weeks for me to realize why I was getting declined! My card continued to work as a ATM card at my bank but NOT as a Visa card. I ended up having to get new cards once I realized what my bank did. Let me tell you I wasn't very happy with the Disney store.

Other stores do this too like Filene's but they usually only hold it for 7 days but it's still very upsetting and frustrating. So debit cards are great excpet when something goes wrong and they already authorized your card but tell you it hasn't been charged because it really has been.

Just an FYI...

This situation has never happened to me before...I've never been charged extra..
But, I'm glad to say that Disney has cleared this up with my bank and my bank is also going to refund the $30 charge too! Thank goodness!

I got Chinese takeout a few weeks ago- total $12.13...well the new girl (an Amish girl working at the Chinese restaurant) charged my card $112.13! I had to wait for 4 business days for the funds to be "unheld". I also had to walk her through my refund, on their machine! I was glad I worked at the bank and have a good understanding of these things, because most people would have been through the roof. It was the most expensive Chinese takeout I've ever eaten!! Sorry this is not disney related!!
