40 inches seems to get you on a lot of rides...

It SEEMED like the only ride DS would not be able to go on is Indiana?

I think we'd skip Space Mountain & Matterhorn just bc I don't think he's ready.

Any idea how to get my 3 year old to grow 5 inches in 2 weeks. He really wants to go on splash mountain.

Just kidding.

LOL! Umm..Herman Munster boots?

DD was 44 in at 4 & she was SO close to Indiana - so we might do the kid swap there if the line is short enough - I don't want poor DS to sit through a line for nothing! :(

My 6 year old son isn't even 44 inches. I make short kids. And I am tall.
Do you think these come in toddler sizes?

Unless the line is nice and short (I went on it with a, hmm, 10 minute wait? maybe 20, but it takes 10 minutes to walk through the line, even when empty, it seems), combine the Swap with Fast Pass to maximize your time and shorten the wait for the too-short kiddo.

And be sure to take the little one on something, or get a snack, don't make my mistake and just SIT there waiting.

Matterhorn's height is only 35 or 36 inches!

DS went on that this trip, he's over 3 but just under 40 inches. And...he didn't like Matterhorn very much. :( Didn't like Gadget's coaster, either, b/c it made his tummy "feel funny".

I canNOT wait until DS is 40 inches so he can do Star Tours! I don't even know why there's a height restriction on it, but I won't argue, but I've considered stretching him, LOL.

When I was 11 ('88) my aunt took my 2 yo cousin on Star Tours - on her lap!!! I don't know if she just slipped through or they weren't strict back then or what. I remember my g-ma was embarassed that she ignored the rules.

I don't think DS is ready for Matterhorn. I think we could do Thunder Mountain & Spash Mountain but roaring yetti's in a jerky bobsled may be a bit too much for his imagination - no nightmares allowed at DL!! ;)

Jen - What's funny is DH & I are incredibly average at 5'5" & 5'10" - but my DD is 1/4 inch from 5' & my DS is tall too. For some reason I breed tall children!! I think those shoes would trip the poor child!!

When DD was 3, we took her on the Gadgets Go Coaster and she loved it......the first day! The second day she went on the Matterhorn and then absolutely refused to go on Gadgets again. Even though I explained over and over that "you loved it yesterday and went on it twice"! That did not matter. The Matterhorn had ruined it for her.

This year I have learned my lesson and I will only take my DS2 on the Matterhorn on the last day if I think he is up to it.

DS8 would love to have those shoes!!!!

My 4 year old is 42 inches and for the life of me I would never take him on the TOT! :scared1:

LOL I hear ya! My 3 yr old will be close, but possibly still an inch under. The only ride I was hoping she'd be tall enough for is Soarin'. Seems like the height restriction is a little high for that? It's the same as Splash and BTMRR and those are way rougher. :confused3

Watch out for Soarin'. I hadn't been on it so I was just going with what others had posted. I wish I knew that at the end there are fireworks that go off in your face. That scared my niece so much that I thought she would refuse to see the Fireworks on friday evening. It would have been nice to at least warn her about them.

I recommend going on any ride first if you can and check it out before so you can decide if your child is up to riding!

alex2kmomy - I think my DS would do Splash Mountain well (his much more cautious sister loved it at 4) only bc it's ONE drop as opposed to several twists & turns like on the Matterhorn & Space Mountain - plus they're dark & have yetti's!!

Brer rabbit seems so much less scary than a yetti!!! :lmao:

Oh, I'm not so much worried about him.

I was skeptical about sending DS7 on it last year (he was 6yo at the time), so the idea of sending my baby on it just gives me chills! :scared1:

If he does go on, I will of course be required to buy the photo of it. Hoping Daddy will take him on that for the first time... :rolleyes1

We took DD(3) on splash and she cried. It's a little dark and loud inside and I only remembered 3 of the 4 drops before the big drop so I couldn't warn her about the 4th and the tears started. She LOVES thunder mountain though but also hates Nemo (dark and the mine explosion scared her, she cried) and Fantasmic! We did buy the photo though since I figured it'll be a while before I hear "Momma, I wanna ride Splash Mountain" again (she wanted to after seeing it on the Disneyland sing along songs DVD but not no more)

Edit: Her 40" got her on Splash and Big Thunder but she was too short for the 40" requirement on Soarin'. We would always tell her we'll see if you can ride because we weren't sure if their 40" was the same as the other 40".

How strange! I was thinking my DS3 would love Soarin'! Guess I won't count on that one until they measure him. Thanks for the tip!

At 4, my dd went on everything except Indy, which she was not tall enough to ride. She loved everything, and even went on ToT several times with dh (I was too scared). The next year, however, she had a much more developed sense of fear and was afraid of Splash (after riding in the very front on the 3rd or 4th round). She went on Screamin' last year for the first time at age 6 but she didn't want to try it again!! We'll see what happens when we go next week--she's now 7.

Oh, and I know it's a terrible, dishonest thing to do, but when she was 5 we had her wear her tallest shoes, which were platform flip-flops that we'd stuck in our backpack for the purpose, and she got on Indy. She was just a little shy of meeting the height requirement in her tennis shoes. I have to admit that she didn't like Indy (scared of the big snake--she has a big fear of snakes) and we were stopped about 4 times while going through the line for various CMs to measure her. I don't know if they didn't notice her shoes (covered by jeans) or just chose to let it pass, but it really wasn't worth it.
