40% Coupon at Deluxe Vrs. possible Free Dining

Hi - sorry if I don't do this right, this is my first post. My question is - can you use a discounted room and still take advantage of the Free Dining if it happens (and I know that is a big if). I have a coupon for 40% off a deluxe - I currently have a moderate booked (Port Orleans) in September. Animal kingdom is available during that time and would actually be slightly cheaper with the coupon, but if free dining happens, and I could take advantage of it (I have a disney visa) that would be cheaper.. now if I could do 40% off a deluxe and take advantage of free dining I would be thrilled but that sounds too good to be true. Anyone with info or past experience with this? I have three really small kids who will be turning 5 (the week we go) 3, and 1 and money is tight! This will be their first trip. Thanks in advance

Disney never allows two discounts. IF they offer free dining it would be a choice btw that or dining.

Oh ok, thanks. The customer service person seemed to imply that I probably could use the coupon and get the free dining if it is offered.

The meal plan for your family isn't a huge expense: 2 kids under 10 @ $10 per day and the youngest doesn't even qualify for the meal plan. So you feed your family of 5 for under $100 per day-- that's a sit down dinner, counter service lunch, and light snack as breakfast. That includes lots of the character meals, the Fantasmic dinner package-- it's a lot of bang for the buck! I know that when we went upstate for a lakeside vacation last summer, a typical dinner bill was in the $80 range---Disney can't possibly be any cheaper than that, and that's just dinner!!

And you're upgrading to a deluxe AND you're saving money!!! This is already a great vacation, and it's still 7 months away!!

hi - thanks everyone. Took the 40% of my current reservation at POR. I didn't know I could do that. The second CM I called told me he could. If the Free dining comes up, and saves more money, he said just call back and change your discount code. Thanks!
