I will be going to DisneyWorld the beginning of December with my 4yr old niece and 14 yr old stepson.....I have been there lots myself but mostly as an adult neither of them have ever been, do you think I will have issues with them not agreeing on what to do????

Well there is a big age gap between the two. I am not sure how daring the 4 year old is or how tall. She may not be able to do some of the rides with height restrictions. If this is the case then maybe sitting down with them before hand and having a discussion about the trip will be helpful. They are both old enough to be patient and understand they need to take turns doing rides they like. If the 14 yo wants to do Rockin Roller Coaster and the 4yo needs to sit out then let them both know the next ride is is your neice's choice. My feeling is that most of the rides are made for all age groups. There are very few that the 4 yo can't do. I think you will be fine. The other thing you can do is bring walkie talkies and let the older boy go on a ride while you take the neice on one for her then plan to meet up after. With the walkie talkies it should be easy to stay in touch. Good luck.

my kids are 8 yrs apart so we've had to work aroudn the age difference every trip to WDW, USO and any other parks we've visited.
Since around DS turned 12 we let him go off on his own to do the rides DD can not.
He always have a radio with him, but we make a backup meeting plan just incase the radio isn't working for some reason (had that happen a few time, from batteries dying, to not being able to get a signal, or forgetting to lock the channel and it accidentally getting changed). When he was 12-13 we would only let him go off for a short amount of time, about an hour for each park. Now we spend an hr or so together in the AM, separate and the meet up for lunch. Spend another hr or so together and separate until dinner (or park closing time if it is early).

Are you the only adult going? If so, expect to spend a lot of time waiting with the 4 year old if she isn't tall enough for the rides with height restrictions. Using fastpass, you could probably do a few 'you go on space mountain while we hit buzz lightyear' rides. It sounds pretty tricky to me though, balancing the two extremes.

My children are ten years apart and we went when my daughter was 3, son 13 and also the next year as well.

We did alot of splitting up.

We might start out together and then split up or we would do different things in the same area and meet back up.

Now this was some time ago - (15 years ago) so there were no walkie talkies or cell phones to make meeting up easy...we would either meet at a bench or a restaurant at a certain time.

Now it is so much easier ... I still occasionally travel with younger ones as well as older and we use the cell phones constantly to keep meeting back up.

I will be the only adult going. My niece is 44" tall right now and we have 9 more months before we go. She likes to ride "big kids rides" at the fairs so hopefully she will do well at most things.
