4 year olds and finger prints

We are going with a 4 year old. Can we just ask for his mom to scan her finger when we go to avoid any problems?

Hey whatever works for you. I have my ID ready so never have to drag it out. It's just st as quick for us. I think many don't know it's an option to opt out.

We just did this last week. It was hit or miss for all of my kids, usually it worked.

The really frustrating thing was on our last night my 3yo forgot his band, so I had dad and other kids go in while I went to GS to get a card for him. The cast member selected the wrong kid to reprint, but the light turned green to get in. We didn't notice until the fast pass turned blue on the 6yo's band.

So the accuracy can't even tell between a 3yo and a 6yo.

Our 7 night trip back in October with Park Hoppers (the only way we ever do it) it was nearly every other entry our DS (age 9) had issues. They finally took his picture "to help us get through easier" and after that, the next time we had an issue I told them they took his picture and that seemed to mean nothing, and they finally had DH use his finger for him. We had never had that big of an issue in past trips when he was younger and smaller than he is now. Maybe because the scanners are getting some age on them??

Kids aren't great about putting their fingers the same way on the scanner every time they go through. We've also been told that sunscreen can affect the biometrics on our fingers... I cringe to think what might be on little kids' fingers.

When we took our neice & nephew, 5 & 8, we had no problems with their scans at all. We also made sure they had their fingers pressed down, touching the "top" of the scanning window every time. A parent's finger pressing the kid's finger so it's easier to read might help as well.
