4 star hotel in I Drive

If you're planning on spending anytime on Universal's property I'd consider staying at either the Portifino Bay hotel or Royal Pacific resort. The Universal hotels are wonderful and the FOTL access is worth it's weight in gold. The Portifino bay also has a great pool area, wonderful restaurants and great service.

Vernon, why do you not recommend the Hard Rock Hotel? I have always wanted to stay there and wondered about your opinion.

Hi Kevin, I've just PM'd you with the answer, but I'll put it here as well.

I'm certainly not "dissing" the Hard Rock, it's a great hotel, excellent location and a fun place to stay but the OP's comment about another hotel of
Just checked out the Rosen, kevin, but it doesnt appear to be the most child friendly hotel around and was a bit concerned about the night club and the rowdy elemenst that might attract.
led me to believe the HArd Rock may be a little too lively for the OP and the other two would be a more refined experience and a better fit.

As I said, for other people the Hard Rock is going to be a great choice, but in this case it didn't sound to me like it's going to be the best fit for the group in question. I didn't want the OP to look up the Hard Rock first and then go "oh my word that looks loud and brash. I don't like that idea"

I tried to contact Virgin yesterday morning, and hung onto the phone for 92 mins (before giving up to watch footie) whilst waiting to be connected to a UK member of staff before giving up.

Havedecided to go for Crowne, or Rosenn (if they do it) if and when i can get hold of Virgin !!

Virgin only do the Rosen Plaza and Crowne Plaza, not the centre. Ring as soon as they open this morning, before the travel agents open.

Another thing, does "Devils and Dust" mean anything to you?, if not just ignore me.....

Hi London Calling.

Does Gates Of The West mean anything to you?

Kevin - are you ready for the ticket scramble?

Seriously - Have stayed at The Rosen Centre and the Holiday Inn. The Rosen is top notch and Kev's suggestion to book a fly drive is a good one. It is at the classier end of I-Drive near Sea World. The Holiday Inn is north of Sandlake Road on a busier stretch. The Rosen fully merits a 4 star rating while Holiday Inn is more a 3 star place. However, the rooms here (Tower) are bigger than many Orlando hotel rooms, including Disney deluxe. Add in a great pool and excellent location (You can walk to Wet And Wild) and you really wouldn't go far wrong here also.

Regards Barry.

Hi

I've never missed getting a ticket, there's ways and means if I don't get a good one straight away...Holding off booking my trip to Orlando untill I have a idea when the shows here are going to be, or seeing if there are shows in Florida, then I'll try to catch one over there.. As long as there are not too many songs about dead Mexicans....lol

We are going to Orlando in October for the 2nd time. This time we've booked the Holiday Inn Mercado. Anybody been there or know of it? Thanks.

Hi Susan, Holiday Inns tend to be pretty standard in their quality. Some are newer, some are older but in general they are a pretty reasonable mid-standard hotel chain. I've stayed in Holiday Inns many times and haven't found one that I thought was a bad hotel.

We have booked for our 2006 holiday at the Crowne Plaza. We chose this hotel after a lot of discussion and after many searches on trip advisor. Its a great site and well worth checking out for all orlando hotels. I hope we won't be disappointed.

HI London Calling

I would be grateful if you could let us know how you get on with Virgin. If they let you move at no extra charge etc. We too are going to Holiday Inn International Drive in May and are concerned that the rating has gone down and wanted to know what Virgin's policy is.

Good luck.

Susan

Hi

Mark n Sue - I spoke to virgin last week and explained that because of the rating drop I wanted to change hotels and the woman that I spoke to explained that would be fine, and then proceeded to put me thru to the appropriate person ( i was thru to new business) which seemed to take forever so I hung up.

Will try to get thru to them today as working from home, and have opted for Crowne Plaza.

Devild and Dust ...gates of the West, you have me intrigued, and also Kevin, what tickets you talking about ?

Hi London Calling

Just wanted to know if you managed to change your hotel with Virgin. If so, did you have to pay more for the Crowne Plaza? The Crowne was originally our first choice but changed our minds due to the room sizes at Holiday Inn.

Many thanks

Susan
