Hello, everyone! I remember reading about a person who rented/provided a wheelchair golf cart that was for 4 to 5 people. The neat thing was it would also accommodate a person in a wheelchair. Does anyone remember this? If so could you direct me to the right person? At some time if I find this person, I want to schedule a trip for our family at Fort Wilderness. I think our special needs child would have a hoot going looping with us!

Thanks in advance for all replies!:goodvibes

Can the person transfer easilly? Or are you looking for a wheel chair shuttle?

No, unfortunately she is wheelchair bound. (Getting too heavy to lift). The picture I attached is similar to what I remember....

I am following in, as my DBil is also wheelchair bound and my DH comes home from Disney trips that we take him with us with a sore back from lifting. We have stayed at the Fort with DBil in a HA Cabin and loved it and did not need a golfcart, but the more we go the more relaxed our trips get and we spend more time around the Fort. DH and I always stay at the Fort. Its our second home!

I just hope someone sees this post that remembers who I am talking about. Although the golf carts are not "necessary"... they are part of the fun when staying at Fort Wilderness!:woohoo:

I do remember some posts about building a golf cart to accommodate a wheel chair. I do not remember posts about a rental one.

1) What you pictured is a "common" adaptation.
2) This is the standard 3-bench (extended) golf cart.
3) They just remove the second row
. . . add a ramp
. . . add some tie-downs
. . . add some grab bars
4) But, have never seen one for rent.
5) Not even at GKTW, where chair-bound kids are common. *

I am wracking my brain to try and remember if I actually saw this in FW or read about it online.:confused3

Try asking this question on the disabilities thread.
If not, call Kenney (at Tee Time golf cart rentals). If he doesn't have one, I am sure he'd be happy to direct you to someone that does.

I was trying to figure out if transfer was possible. But this was the route I was going to suggest based on the response.

And for known reasons I did not see the picture....work blocks some of the image hosting sites.
