SUNDAY 20th May 2001
SHOPPING & MGM
Cast list: -
Me (Shaun) - Wallet opener, chauffeur and bag carrier
DW (Alison) - Chief planner, navigator and mother
DD # 1 (Alexandra 7) - Cautious, shy and parking lot number guru
DD # 2 (Laura 5) - Daredevil, chatterbox and sleeper
Ok, time to put yesterdays experience out of my mind and on with the day!
No alarm set but we wake up naturally by 09:30, well, all that is except for Laura who really struggles. We head over to OPR, I really like this walk in the morning, and enter the food court. Its PACKED! -
Where did all those people come from and why are they all eating so late? uzzled:
We join the scrum for food and Alexandra has cereal and fruit salad, Laura has fruit salad, DW has croissant, muffin and yoghurt and I have Mickey head with bacon and a banana about $20 in total.
Back to room and drive off to Buena Vista Outlets Mall. I get Reebok running shoes, trainers for Laura but Alexandra cant find any that she likes Why on earth not? there must be about 2000 pairs in stock!! Women huh!
Pop into Character Shop, but its not as nice as the one in the Premium Outlets Mall. Laura picks up a Mickey beanie for $3. (what is a Driedle?)
I take girls off to the food court while DW shops for girlie things! 2 new bras for $11 M & S beat that!
Alexandra still sad that she didnt get anything in Reebok or Adidas and said she wanted to try Nike. I'm not sure about Nike but shes really trying my patience! so its back to Premium Outlets Mall!
Boy, am I suffering! -
Guess what? She didnt like anything there either! I give up, so we head back to CBR for a quick swim. DW packs a bag and we take off for MGM for dinner at the Prime Time Café, for which we had a PS made in UK before we left home.
Arrived at MGM at about 4:25 and got FP for Millionaire for after dinner and met with some more characters more autographs and pictures!
MGM seems fairly quiet which makes a change for us! Prime Time Café is busy (standing room only in waiting area) - so grateful we have a PS! We grab a beer and drinks at the bar after being served by a grumpy CM. We are served by Auntie Ellen and sat at one of the Formica breakfast bars watching some old B/W TV.
Contrary to previous posts, the food was EXCELLENT IMHO!
Ordered a pitcher of beer to share and Auntie Ellen persuaded us to have some delicious onion rings to go with the beer. Good decision!! Then I had meatloaf, DW had Uncle Giovanni's pasta, DDs had the obligatory chicken strips, fries and sweetcorn !
We just HAD to try Smores for dessert but it was a bit sickly for me though. Total bill came to about $65.
Overall it was good value and good fun, plus we all got told off for putting elbows on the table and me for not eating my green beans! DDs were dragged off to help sing Happy Birthday to someone on another table. DDs drew pictures for Aunt Ellen and she stuck them on the wall by the entrance DDs were very impressed. We stayed there about 1 ½ hours and were not rushed out. -
We left and went on the Backlot Tour , although Alexandra was very concerned about Catastrophe Canyon. In the end they both enjoyed the ride which we were pleased about.
We went over for our FP for Millionaire this was really good, very atmospheric and authentic. It was about 8:50pm by the time we got out.
We went to TOT and babyswapped the girls. Laura was in two minds all the way but decided against it in the end. I went first and Alison waited with the girls downstairs. When I came back down Alison went back up in the lift to find .
(AlisonB here)
NO-ONE EXCEPT CMs!!! -
They all really teased me - saying that the lift would be uneven and may flip over etc and to watch for ghosts. Good job I wasn't a nervous rider, but it was a little bit unnerving, I was very grateful the ride didn't break down! At least I had my choice of seats - I chose middle and front - and the ride at night was superb! Such a wonderful view as the lift doors open, I'll never forget it! I bet not many others can claim to have done TOT completely alone!!
(Bonzo back again!)
After this the park was shut and we wandered back to the car (with Alexandra's help we managed to find it!!!) and stopped at OPR on the way back to the room to buy milk, beers, crisps and other essentials!! Got back to the room at about 10pm and crashed out.
Tomorrow: Magic Kingdom, disaster at CBR, and Typhoon Lagoon.
