My DH and two sons visited VB, May 31st thru June 3rd. We had 2 Oceanview Inn Rooms.
This is our 3 stay at VB. What a beautiful resort.
Good news, lobby renovations were pretty much finished, just some painting and glazing of the walls.
The Oceanview Inn rooms is our new favorite. The rooms are spacious, but the Oceanview is the star. I spent so much time on our balcony.
The weather was beautiful, warmer by the pool but breezy and comfy at the beach. The temperature was between 81 and 85 the whole week, except Friday when the storm rolled in after 1pm.
The beach was nice, water just a slight chill but you could get used to it.
The sand replenishment has caused a major drop off. This has to be the only thing I thought need some work. They had a man made dug out gradual slop to make it easier to get down to the water, but get up from the lower area of the beach was a little difficult if you were in shape and young. Umbrellas and chairs are located on the top level and then it drops off about 8 feet.
We rented two chairs and an umbrella for 3 of the days.
The Wind Wave Market was pretty good. I had the make your own salad every day for lunch. My Hubby and sons after two days were looking for something else, so they tried Beach Bites that is right next door. They loved it, large menu, breakfast too.
I tried the Key Lime Dole Whip…delicious…Also, the Mickey Chocolate Bars with ice cream cone pieces and Carmel in it…Yummy!
We ate at Wind and Wave the 2nd night there. Very nice, we had the Scallop Fritters, large portion and yummy. We also shared the Apple Cider-Pork Belly. DH and I had the Bacon-crusted Salmon, it was really good. My one son had Pan Roasted Chicken. My other son a vegetarian bowel, it was okay.
We dined a Squid Lips the next night. You can not beat the setting over the water. I can’t remember whatever one had. We got a lot of appetizers. All good except the raw oysters. They were not cleaned well.
The last night we dined at Mulligan’s, we had never been there. It was pretty good. I don’t know if we will go back.
My DH and I had to leave Friday morning and head south into a storm for a wedding. My sons stayed another night. The made the best of the bad weather that came in. They dined at Wind and Wave again and had a nice dinner.
We also got Empanadas from the Green Cabin Room, they are really yummy. I got an over the top donut one morning. It was treat, but it was too much. A Cinnamon Roll donut, freshly iced with chocolate icing, candied bacon and Carmel drizzle. They warmed it first before the CM decorated it in front of me. Yummy but too much!
The pool was always busy, but I always found a chair in the shade when needed. The water was really warm. The CM do a great job keeping kids and big kids entertained. I watched the slide races one day, very fun.
The highlight of the trip was having the Oceanview, the weather and just how beautiful the resort is. We will be back.
