4 nights at Paradise Pier or 5 nights at BW Park Place

Never have stayed on property at DL. Just myself and 20 year old daughter. Will be out there Memorial weekend- I know it will be very crowded. How far is it walking from Paradise Pier Hotel? It seems like it might even be further than the BW Park Place right across from the street. If we are there for only the 4 nights, wont have real down time to enjoy the pool and such. Dont really need the extra amenities because there are no little ones with us....whats a girl to do????

The deciding factor for us has been the access to early entry. If you won't make full use of early entry, I would stay offsite. We have a 2 hour time change and are up early anyway, so knew we would fully use the early entry, so we stayed at PPH.

The walk from PPH to the parks is quite reasonable cutting through the GC.

If early entry to DCA is important to you and you are willing to pay a lot more for it then consider staying on site.

If not, then stay off site just as close, if not closer, and save money and use that money towards dining options.

Personally, I'd go the extra night and stay off site. From my experience in January, I found that the room at the Castle Inn I had stayed in previously was actually nicer than the club level room at the PPH. DLH or GCH would be a much harder decision for me. I'd also need to weigh the hotel vs. motel factor into the equation. I do like having bell services and a restaurant (if I choose to use room service) available. But, for me, an extra night would weigh heavily into the "stay off site" side.


If walking distance is a factor for you, again, I'd go with BWPPI. It is much closer to the entrance. That being said, the walk from PPH is not bad, especially if you are heading into DCA. You just cross the street and go in through the GCH entrance.

I've done both, PPH is definitely longer, though I wouldn't say it's that noticeable when you're walking it. And I did have a room right near the front of BWPPI. How often will you go from the park right to the room? Going to PPH you can pass through DTD, GCH, stop for dinner. If you've never stayed on-site, I think a holiday weekend is a great time to try at least a split stay. You'd get access to EMH on your check in day and check out day. If you start the trip off-site you might find you're ready for some down time by the time you switch.
