Early Entry at MK!!! We got up early, had cereal in the room and then got on a bus to MK. My DW took the stroller and baby for a day cruising the monorail resorts while I took the 2 & 4 yr olds to the MK. We arrived at 8:15, got our day tickets and went in around 8:40 (after a potty break!).

We rode the steam train from main gate to Toontown first to try and see Mickey. He wasn't home. Neither was Donald or Minnie, but a CM said Mickey would be at his house at 9:30. We walked over to the Pooh ride and got in line. Line was about 15 minutes long, so no reason for fast pass. Boys were a little scared of getting on the ride, but once moving enjoyed it. They did not like the thunderstorm or the psychodelic room at all. But did like the happy ending with the birthday cake for Piglet. We then went to Dumbo ride. My older boy was a little scared, but not my 2 yr old. We stood in line for about 10 minutes, then got on. Once it started, both boys loved it. We then went on Cinderella's Carousel which we all loved. From there we went to Small World, where my boys lost it. The sound of the fountains entering the ride sounded like another storm so I couldn't get them in. We walked out, had a snack and just walked around. (Shame since there was no line.) From there we had some fun looking for characters and taking pictures of the castle. We then went to frontier land for the Country Bears. After waiting 15 minutes to enter the theater, my oldest boy started crying again. Two minutes into his crying, the 2 year old started crying. Needless to say, I took both boys out so others could enjoy the show. We went back to the train and rode it to Toon town again.

We were told that Mickey was there in the tent after you went through his house. We got in line and went through his house, through his garded and arrived at the tent. I was shocked to see the serpentine gates to see Mickey. A CM said it would be about 30-40 minutes standing in line to see him. I initially thought no problem since my 2 yr old's only reason for wanting to go to Disney was to see Mickey and shake his hand. Unfortunately, directly behind us was a group of 4 high school girls with filthy mouths who kept saying things like "Mickey is lost" and "Mickey isn't really here" and "Mickey is just a f---ing person in a costume" among other things. I asked them to remember that there were really little kids in front of them who wanted to see Mickey and to please don't spoil it for them. Needless to say, they ignored me and continued on as teenagers are wont to do. By this time, my 2 year old was getting confused and sad. He kept repeating "Mickey is lost, Mickey is lost and isn't here, etc." There were no CMs anywhere near by to complain to either. I was very disappointed in both the wait times (it was already 30 minutes and we hadn't moved more than two rows closer, with five to go). So we left without seeing him.

If I had one suggestion to make to Disney, it would be to have several Mickey's around and available with the Fair tent for children under 10 only. To go to Disney and not see Mickey is ridiculous given that the DVD for trip planning shows him all over the place building up the kids' expectations that they will see him.

(Steps off soapbox)

Anyway, we then went to the train again. Took it all the way around the park and back to the main gate where we left to go on the monorail.

We were able to ride in the front seats with the engineer. The boys loved it, waving to every monorail that went by. We got off at the contemporary resort, hoping that we might see Mickey as the Chef Mickey bfast was just ending. No luck, but the boys were just as happy to ride on the monorail. We got back on, took it all the way around past the transportation center. We went around all the way again before getting on the monorail to epcot. We took the bus back to ASMo where DW and baby were waiting. 2 yr old, baby and I took a nap, while 4 yr old and Mom went swimming.

We had dinner at the FC, (burgers, chicken) eating outside. Went for another swim, then put boys in Toy Story PJs and went to arcade to play air hockey, pop a shot and cash in our tickets. After boys went to sleep, DW and I sat on walkway and had a couple of drinks. I went to store and bought 2 yr old a Mickey doll. He was still awake when I got back. I told him that Mickey stopped by the front desk of the hotel and left this doll for him and said he was sorry that he didn't get to meet DS. My DS took the doll, hugged him close and went to sleep. He now tells everyone that Mickey gave him this doll since Mickey was lost and couldn't meet him.

Overall, another fun day except for the teenage girls.

mouth teen......to bad that it had to ruin the kids time trying to see Mickey......I am sooooo sorry......we did love this resort and the food court made even my vegetarian son in law happy.....thanks so much for your vacation

Wow! Do you give parenting classes??? I'm impressed!!! Every parent of young kids should be given your report at check-in, then again at each park, and be forced to read it and sign something saying that they understood it!!!

Oh, how wonderful that you were able to make your son so happy. I love how you and your wife are able to share the duties so all the kids are rested and able to enjoy everything.

I'm so happy you were able to give a magical memory to your child.

Here's a little tidbit for future visits. On our first on-site visit in 2000, we stayed at ASM. Our just turned 4 (1 week prior) son, drew Mickey a picture. Mind you it was on the little notepad left by the phone in the hotel, drawn in pen and of course could only be seen for what it was suppose to be, by a parent.

He insisted on having it delivered to Mickey. We took it to customer service and he stretched up on his tippy toes to hand it to the very kind girl behind the counter, asking her to give it to Mickey. She promised him she would see him soon and give it to him.

When we got to our room later in the evening, there on the bed held up by 3 balloons was a signed picture in a frame (cardboard) with a note to our son that said "Thanks for the cool picture, come see me soon" Your pal, Mickey.

I will never forget the look on his face and cherish the moment forever.
