I read somewhere about a stopover at Freeport in addition to Nassau and Castaway Cay on the 4 day cruise.
Is the stopover at Freeport a normal stop or is it only done on
certain trips

This is our first cruise - not until Sept 2005, but I like to know all my options.

I enjoy the disboards and the information you all provide.
Hopefully I will also be able to contribute.

Thanks for your help. :sunny:

There are two different itineraries for the four-day cruise; one includes a stop in Freeport, the other a day at sea. Both include stops in Nassau and Castaway Cay. I think it alternates, but you should be able to check the schedule on the DCL site.

We've only done the four-day that doesn't include Freeport, but everyone I've heard an opinion from says that the day at sea is better than a stop in Freeport.

No more Freeports stops. As of Dec. 31, 2003. Disney stopped putting Freeport on the Itinerary. :D Now all 4 days have a day at sea Wednesday.

Yes, the day at sea is now the only option & a beautiful one at that! :sunny:

I don't think this is probable, but DCL has been known to discontinue the Freeport stop, and then sign a contract with Freeport and begin the every-other-cruise Freeport itenerary.

Our cruise lost our day at sea to Freeport when this happened to us.... And, believe me... the day at sea is a MUCH better itenerary!!! (PM me if you want details on why...)

I think that, for now, DCL has stopped the Freeport itenerary for good. But, since 2005 is still pretty far away, I just wanted to give you a heads up.... never know!

PS: We also cruised in September.... got a GREAT rate, an upgrade to a verandah, good weather (only one rain...) and had a WONDERFUL cruise!!!

Enjoy your cruise!!!

We loved the day at sea too! If we had been on a "Freeport" cruise, we would probably have stayed on the ship.

I LOVED Freeport...I wish we could have just went there and skipped Nassau!

Any day in which people can get off of my ship so that I can enjoy it without THEM is better than a "Day at Sea".
I was looking forward to a "shipboard/prebooked-a-year-in-advance-so-that-I-could-have-a-Freeport-Stop" cruise only to find out that Disney dropped Freeport for 2004.
Now I have to put up with Everybody in my pool, lounge chair, buffet line, etc.
Oh, wait a minute.
Life ain't So Bad,
I'm still going to be cruising in...

Grand Bahama has a great beach---Paradise Cove. The owners there are great. They would pick you up at the dock and take you to the cove, supply snorkel gear, bar b q lunch and let you stay as long as you wanted for $25. It wasn't really near Freeport, so the seclusion and GREAT snorkeling beach was almost like another Castaway CAy! So if they do have that on their itinerary when you go---forget Freeport and go directly to Paradise Cove.

I also loved the Freeport day, I thought it was more pleasant than Nassau. The kayak nature tour there was my favorite excursion of the cruise.
