4 day wonder Dec 16 2007

Sorry it took me long to get back to you. Wouldn't you know it, I didn't have one picture with a child with the floaty things. Must have seen some picture posted here with them. Old age I guess! LOL!

We will be cruising with all of you as well (Dec. 16-20). This will be our 2nd 4 night cruise. Our first was last summer. Our son will be 11 and last summer he wanted to be in the Oceaneer Lab all day and night. Our daughter will be 7 and loved her club as well. This is understated, they would be most happy to live in the clubs. The staff(s) were great, so complimentary about our kids behavior and really seemed to know the kids. Our kids loved the meals and it was great family time. Give the meals a try with your kids.

Hi, CHBC! Thanks for posting. My children are very close in age to yours and I've been wondering how they will like the clubs. I've read some like it a lot others, not so much. It is nice to know that older kids specifically enjoyed it. How did your kids like the shows? I was hoping for dinner and the show together as a family, but other than that I'd leave it up to them if they want to be with us or in the clubs. I'd love to hear what your experience was with the shows. Thanks!

I hate to be a party pooper = but after visiting a site called cruisebruise.com or bruisecruise.com = whatever - i cant beleive any of us post things about us on these cruises - ages of our children - state rooms - all that info is terribly damaging if others who wish to cause harm to anyone on a cruise wants to do so - even the pictures - once you think about it - its really scary - i dont want to spoil anyones adventure - i think in a world full of honest people - this would be great - but i wont take any chances with my own children - enjoy your cruises!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am sure wdw will be a great time for all!!!

You need to be aware of your surroundings and where your children are at all times on the ship...just as you are at home. Being aware that things happen even at sea allows you to keep your guard up. We have participated in big DIS groups for all 5 cruises and wouldn't have it any other way. We have had secure websites with all of our information on them. This has helped us keep track of each other as well as allowed the kids to see who they would be with on the ship and email kids their age. They have made friends before we even boarded.

The kids loved the shows. The Walt Disney Theatre is beautiful. We saw the Hercules show and it was so much fun. Pain and Panic were two hilarious women (I think panic gave us directions at the emergency drill-scary). Some jokes were geared for my husband and I, and the kids got some of those jokes too. We laughed and laughed. The Golden Mickey's is an "oscar" type show with musical bits based on several movies. It was great and a special night. We missed the disney dreams show but plan on catching it next time. The Disney U graduation ceremony was a special treat. The kids were happy, I was beaming from ear to ear. It was a special way to celebrate kids and highlight the fun they had in the clubs/cruise. I was terrified to go on a cruise, I seemed to forget all about it once on board, until I was watching Dead Man's Chest in the Walt Disney Theatre. I realized-oh no I'm on the open seas, my husband got me a rum (good rum) and coke. This followed a day at cast away cay (what a day!), seeing the flying dutchman, Animator's Palate and a pirate party. What better place to watch Pirates! I was ready to plan another cruise.

Wow, chbc, that is just what I wanted to hear! Since we've never cruised before, I am a bit nervous about what it will be like and how the kids will do. It is so nice to hear from someone who has been there with kids - male oldest/female youngest around the same ages as mine. Relieves some of my fears, although I do realize all kids are different. Who knows maybe they will even be at the clubs at the same time! I'd suggest a meet of some sort, but colleensauctions post :sad1: kinda ruined that for me! I guess we'll just have to see if we don't run into each other. Thanks for your reply!

So glad to be of help. Our children will be in the clubs at the same time, the kiddos have know idea we have planned this cruise but that hasn't stopped both of them from periodically talking about their next cruise and they plan on being in the club/activities. We will have fun meet and greets. We are all about the same age. I am learning how to do these post things. So glad to have helped you in some small way, as I have read all these posts for years and should have given tips or help, but did not know how this post stuff works. I'd like to figure out how to put our Boardwalk on and that trip ticket thing. For now I'll try a smilies.princess:

Hi, as I stated in an earlier post, my family will be on this cruise. My daugher's are 11 & 4. Not sure if they are going to love or hate the kids clubs, so do you need to book the clubs 90 days in advance or just play it by ear when you get on the ship. If you do need to prebook, is it easy to cancel if they hate it or what??? Any info would be helpful. I can't wait for this trip!!!

As far as the club, you can register on line, it saves time on the ship or in the port. Disney already knows the number of kids/ages, etc so there will be room for them, not like with Palo where you have to book to get the reservation. Just a piece of advice, if you register on line you have to pick a password, pick something you will remember three months down the road or write it down. Guess who forgot once???! I always register my son. Our first cruise he was 8 and went so daddy and I could have alone time. He liked it ok. The second cruise he had a buddy so that was good. The last cruise it was just him and I. He didn't want to go so the rule was if he behaved at dinner he didn't have to go. he's not in to organized things and HATES anything that has arts or crafts. Basically once they are registered you can take them all day long, one hour, none at all. Its real flexible. My son did see some things on the new email DCL sent regarding the clubs that had to do with magic and said he would try that. So we shall see. Grandma is coming so if we want to get away she can watch him too. LOL. Hope that answered your questions.

I think I will go ahead and prebook. I'm sure my 11 yr old will love it, meeting other kids etc. My 4 yr old... not too sure about her, she is such a mommies girl. I was really thinking about using it for her if we wanted to go to the Straw market in Naasu or something, but now you got me thinking about dinners, as well. The cruise isn't until Dec, and my dd will almost be 5 so she will probably and hopefully sit at dinners better than she does now, but I guess the kids clubs are an alternate choice. Well just have to see how it goes. Thanks for all the info.

Hey, all! I was wondering if you all have been thinking about excursions yet. I've been reading some of the posts on Nassau excursions and it has got me thinking...

I know the weather can be so iffy - one week coolish and another hot so I can't decide what type of excursions to do. The Caribbean Queen or the catamaran snorkeling excursions sound like something our family would love to try, but I'm worried my thin southern blood might be in for a shock when I hit the water.

In Castaway Cay, I think the parasailing sounds awesome! I'm not sure if my daughter can do it though and I wouldn't do it without her. She is the true daredevil of the family and would be the one to get me up there. They say you have to be 8 which she is but then later on it says the minimum weight is 90lbs which she is no where near. I sent Disney an email asking if we went tandem if she would be all right since two of us would well succeed that minimum! :scared1: Haven't heard back yet.

I would love to hear what the rest of you are thinking about doing on the islands! :goodvibes

I was thinking about the stingray one they have at Nassu, but I'm kinda worried about the travel to and from where ever it is they have it (I'm not really into wild & crammed bus rides from hell). I also am kind of limited, because my youngest dd will still only be 4 when we travel, so she is too little for a lot of the excursions. I really wanted to go snorkeling, but I guess I'll have to send DH with our older DD. I think my oldest DD would love the parasailing too, but my sister who went on a Bahama cruise a while back did this with her friends and said it was only fun during the take off and landing, and that it was kinda boring flying around up there. So I just really can't decide. I too am just reading up on the boards of other peoples experiences on the excursions. Good luck!

Well I am not sure about Nassau. We did the Astrada (sp?) Gardens in 2004 and I loved it. DS had a heart attack when the parrot went to land on his arm (which they are supposed to do) and DH had to do it. Last time since it was just Ds and myself we didn't go off the boat. We had a great day, going to the pool, taking a nap(ah the benefits of having an older child who you can bribe), and watching a couple of movies. My mother who will be 83 has never been to a foreign country so it would be good for her to see something but it won't be parasaling! LOL! We have to get through baseball and the end of 5th grade before I can even think that far! LOL!

At castaway cay we did the bike rental last year and just loved it. However, it was like 100 so we didn't use the full hour. I figure even if its warm when we go it won't be like a summer day and we could ride for a long time. Its so nice because Disney has it set up like a landing strip (you know the whole theme thing with a story) so you don't have to worry about cars like you do on the street.

Also the beach on castaway cay is to die for. I always get a pina colada and I don't drink much (like only on the cruise) and its soo hot outside I down it and then I fall off the hammock. That's kind of my recreation! I will be looking foward to seeing all the Christmas decorations too.

Hello everyone! My family and I will be on this cruise. It will be me,DH, DS(6) and DD(5). Actually my son will be 7 when we cruise! This is our second cruise and we are very excited. We went on a 4 day last June. We stayed at the Raddison last year, but we are thinking of staying at the new Country Inn and Suites this year. It looked really nice and has gotten some nice reviews here on the board. We have early dining this go around. We had late dinner last time and that worked out fine for us. We are usually pretty flexible. My kids would not stay in the clubs last time, but I hope that they will this time. I really want to try out Palo and the spa this time. I am so excited to find this thread!!!! :goodvibes

Hello! I hope you get to try out the spa this time too. The thought of the spa keeps me going some days. My husband would go to the spa while the kiddos were still sleeping and I then I would go. Sometimes they would still be sleeping when he got back. The spa is so wonderful. I love both the dry and steam sauna. The rainforest shower. I need to be on that cruise now!! There is a dressing room to get ready in, an array of tea in the morning, it is a great way to start the day. I do hope your children will like the clubs. Ours had so much fun there and still talk about it. Our DD just turned 7 and she can't wait to go back to her club. Oh and Palo was a special meal for us. The service, food and atmosphere was all I could ask for.

For any of us spending time at WDW, my husband made Candlelight Processional ressies yesterday. At 4:00 am he made the call.
